Twenty Three

"What do you mean you were wed in Winterfell?!" Alicent asked, clearly enraged by the news that Aemond brought forth at the dinner. Aemond's eye flickered between his mother and his grandsire. Otto had a happy grin on his face, clearly amused at the news.

"It means what it means mother. I am now married to Alyarra by the faith of the Old Gods." Was all he stated as Alicent looked at her father and then back at her son. She was dumbfounded.

"The faith of the Old Gods?! Why would you do such a thing? We follow the Seven! You know this well." Alicent exclaimed as Aemond simply shrugged.

"That was the will of Cregan Stark, mother. It was what he wanted." Aemond said coldly, making Alicent frown in confusion at his words. "He couldn't wait for us to plan a proper celebration? What is wrong with him? I will have to write to him. This is inexcusable." Alicent was furious.

"Isn't this what you've wanted all along? For the Northern army to be secured for us? You should be thanking me instead of berating me. I have gained a powerful ally to your cause." Aemond was stern in his voice, but not disrespectful.

"The boy is right, Alicent. What this rogue Aemond has done is invaluable for us." Otto weighed in as Alicent rolled her eyes.

"He could have waited! They were betrothed either way... The North would have sworn fealty to us sooner or later." Alicent said coldly as Aemond shrugged.

"It was Cregan's will, and my own will to a certain extent. I see no issue in this. The Princess Alyarra will be a good wife to me, and a good addition to our family I am sure." His voice was serious. There was a conviction to it.

"Why would you marry in such haste, Aemond? I wanted to take part in my son's wedding. I wished for you to marry under the guidance of the Seven Gods." Alicent asked, the questioning only made his patience wear thin.

"I already told you. It was what Cregan Stark wished for." Aemond repeated, a bitter tone taking over.

"But why? Gods you are not saying anything valuable!" Alicent complained as finally Aemond snapped.

"Because I deflowered her, mother. Is that what you wished to hear? I made her mine before marriage and Stark found out." Aemond's voice was dark and loud. Alicent gasped as she stared at her son in pure shock.

"You did WHAT?! Aemond Targaryen do you understand what you have done?! You have defied the Gods, you have destroyed that lady's innocence and virtue." Alicent scolded him. Aemond kept a straight face as he listened to his mother.

"Nothing has been destroyed because she is my wife, and nobody knows what we've done." Aemond stated. "The Gods know!" Alicent hissed, making Aemond want to roll his one eye. He wouldn't though, he was a respectful son.

"It matters not mother. All is well. I am married to the woman I love, and she loves me. She will make a great princess, and our house has gained the strongest ally there is. This situation could not be any better." Aemond said as Alicent took a breath.

"Aemond is right. We could not wish for a better outcome. Think with a cool head Alicent. Who cares about a wedding? Think of what we could do with the Northern army..." Otto pressed on as he walked towards his daughter. Alicent eyed her father and then her gaze found her son. She was inmensely disappointed in him, but her father was right.

"We will hold a celebratory feast for the wedding. I wish to be able to celebrate my own son's nuptials. And a coronation shall be held for Lady Alyarra before the court." Alicent ordered as Aemond shrugged.

This was not a trouble for him. If he could, he would hold a thousand weddings just to be able to relive the day that Alyarra Stark and himself became one.

"You can go." Alicent stated. Aemond made his way out of his mother's quearters and hastily made way to his own chambers. Which were empty. It seemed Alyarra had gone back to her old apartments.

-

After she scrambled out of the Queen's apartments, Alyarra made haste to her own. She wished to see Catherryn, so much had happened in the last days and her best friend knew nothing of it. Alyarra burts into her chambers and then hurried to the back of her bedchamber, where Catherryn's lady-in-waiting own quarters were.

Alyarra knocked and the door opened to reveal Catherryn. The lady squealed and engulfed Alyarra in a hug, excited to have her friend back in King's Landing. "Alyarra you're back! So soon?!" Catherryn asked as Alyarra took a breath.

"Catherryn... you have no idea everything I have gone through." Alyarra breathed out as Catherryn pulled away, look of worry clear on her face.

"What happened? Is your brother alright? Is the babe okay?" Catherryn questioned as Alyarra nodded her head. "Yes, Cregan is fine and baby Rickon is healthy." Alyarra responded, making Catherryn sigh with relief.

"Thank the gods... Then what is wrong? Is it the Lady Arra? Was the funeral terribly sad?" Catherryn asked as Alyarra took a breath, bringing her fingers up to pinch her nose in stress.

"Yes but aside from that... I'm... married." Alyarra dropped the news. Catherryn brought boths hands up to her face, covering her mouth in clear and utter shock.

"You're married?! What do you mean?! You married Prince Aemond?!" Catherryn asked in blatant shock. She could not believe her ears.

"I did... We were married in Winterfell." Alyarra answered simply. Catherryn was shocked at the news. Wasn't Alyarra saying that she didn't want to marry him just a few days prior? What is the gods name is happening?

"In Winterfell?! Alyarra what in the gods name?! Weren't you just saying that you despised him the other day? And now you married him?" Catherryn asked in clear shock.

"It is very complex. I am not sure I am able to understand it myself." Alyarra told her lady as Catherryn huffed in pure shock.

"Well congratulations?" Catherryn asked in a jesting manner. Alyarra smiled at her and then there was a knock to her door. Catherryn moved swiftly to open it, only to reveal Aemond standing there.

"My prince," Catherryn curtsied as Aemond gave her a curtly nod. He made his way inside the chambers, approaching his wife and grabbing her hands in his.

"You are to sleep in my chambers from now on princess. We are married, and I have lovely plans for tonight and the rest of our nights." Aemond spoke seductively, making Alyarra smirk slightly up at him. Their eyes were locked together, and their faces only inches apart.

Catherryn coughed, as if to remind them that she was standing in the room. Alyarra stepped away from Aemond and smiled at her lady.

"I will see you tomorrow Catherryn." Alyarra said, right before Aemond sweeped her off her feet and threw her over his shoulder easily. Alyarra kicked and laughed as he brought her all to his chambers, that now would be hers too.

Aemond set her down gently on his large bed, giving his beautiful wife a small loving smile. "I had a bath prepared for us." Aemond stated as he began unbuttoning his doublet. Alyarra smiled, and hastily started working on her dress.

The pair were like eager rabbits, each of them scrambling to the bath chamber and getting into the tub. It was pure marital bliss. They were so in synch, so perfect in the way each of them moved and loved each other.

Aemond had never felt this way with anyone, ever. It was like Alyarra had bewitched his mind and his body. She was all he could ever think about, he felt strange whenever his body wasn't near hers. He needed her proximity each second of his days. He could not wait to spend his life with her, he wanted nothing more than to love and cherish her for the rest of her life.

"I am yours, Alyarra. Body and soul. As long as I breathe and as long as I live, I will be yours. You are my love, my goddess. My moon, stars, and sun." Aemond said as she leaned back against his chest. The words sent chills down her spine.

He leaned down so close that his lips touched her ear so he could whisper. "I worship you."

It was intoxicating for her, knowing that Aemond Targaryen was at her mercy. He was a prince, the rider of the grandest dragon in the world, a feared swordsman, a dangerous man, and he loved her. He worshipped her. He would do anything for her.

Aemond Targaryen was a beast of a man, in every sense of the word. And Alyarra Stark would be the only one able to tame that beast.

-

The next day, Alyarra woke up to find the bed empty besides her. The sun was shining bright and she figured that Aemond had already gotten a head start on his day. Alyarra dressed herself back up in her nightgown, and made it a point in her mind to ask for all of her dresses to be moved to her new chambers.

Alyarra exited to the living chambers, only to find about 10 maids moving around hastily, accompanied by Catherryn. The lady was giving orders to the girls, who were carrying all sorts of dresses and boxes into Aemond's living chambers. Alyarra was greatly confused, and gave Catherryn a frown as the lady spotted her.

"What is going on?" Alyarra asked as Catherryn smiled and made her way to the now princess, grabbing her hands in hers.

"You're a princess! That is what's happening. Prince Aemond had me woken up at the crack of dawn. Had me escorted to the finest tailor in all of King's Landing, and let me pick any and all dresses I deemed fit for you. And then he had every jeweler in King's Landing bring jewels in for you... I might have gone a little crazy..." Catherryn gushed.

Alyarra couldn't help the cheeky grin that crawled unto her face as she eyed the maids moving all the dresses and boxes in. It was never ending.

"And all of these girls?" Alyarra asked as Catherryn gazed at them and back to Alyarra.

"New maids for you. I guess one lady is not enough for a princess. They were all brought to me by Talya, sent by the Queen herself. Isn't this so exciting?! You're getting full royal treatment." Catherryn squealed as Alyarra pressed her lips together.

"Don't you think it a bit excessive? I only need one maid, and that's you. Why would I need ten girls at my service?" Alyarra asked as Catherryn shrugged.

"Just you wait to see the new knight they posted at the door as your protector." She added as Alyarra's eyes widened. Alyarra was shocked at all of this. But what was she expecting? She was a princess now.

"Help me get dressed." Alyarra ordered Catherryn as the girl nodded and moved to pick one of the new dresses she had brought from the tailors.

Catherryn picked an emerald green dress for Alyarra. After the new princess had a bath, she helped her put it on. Catherryn did her hair in an intricate hairstyle as she almost always did and then picked out beautiful jewels for Alyarra.

"You look radiant in this dress. Truly. You make the most beautiful princess." Catherryn said lovingly as she rested her chin on Alyarra's shoulder, looking at her through the looking glass. Alyarra gave her best friend a sweet smile, bringing her hands to hers.

"Thank you Catherryn. What would I ever do without you?" Alyarra asked as Catherryn shrugged. "Be a disaster probably." She jested making Alyarra chuckle.

"Well let us go down to the courtyard... I wish to see Aemond training." Alyarra stated as Catherryn nodded, the pair of them exited from the bedchamber and into the livingchamber. The ten maids were standing there, expectantly waiting for orders to be given to them.

"You shall be dismissed for the day... I do not have tasks for you." Alyarra said simply as the maids curtsied and scrambled away from the room. It would definitely be hard to get used to this new treatment. Alyarra and Catherryn exited their apartments, to find a young looking knight standing dutifully at the door. As soon as he spotted Alyarra he raised his arm up to his forehead in a knightly stance.

"Who might you be?" Alyarra asked as she eyed the knight. He could not be older than Aemond, and he was tall and skinny. Yet he had a rough look to him, like he had seen so much at his young age.

"Benjamin Peake, at your service. I am your sworn protector, princess. I will seek for your wellbeing at every hour of my day." The boy replied in a manner that almost sounded practiced. Alyarra gave him a curtly nod, her eyes not leaving him. "Enchanting to meet you, Ser Benjamin." Alyarra stated kindly. As Alyarra and Catherryn walked down the hall, he walked behind them like a looming shadow.

Alyarra and Catherryn then made their way down to the balcony that oversat the courtlooked, so they could watch Aemond train with his sword. Alyarra and Catherryn sat at the very front row, and Alyarra would stretch her neck eagerly to try and spot her husband in between the men and the knights.

Then gasps would be heard as Criston Cole stumbled backwards and into Alyarra's view frame. She smirked as she watched Aemond swinging at the knight like a mad man.  "He's feral." Catherryn breathed out as Alyarra nodded her head, smirking proudly as Aemond bested Criston in just a few seconds.

"He's perfect." Alyarra mused in awe, maning Catherryn turn to look at her. "Gods... whatever he did to you in Winterfell whipped you into oblivion." Catherryn told her, making Alyarra snap her head towards her lady.

"Sorry..." Catherryn whispered as Alyarra rolled her eyes. "Oh look! The Ser Jon is next to spar with Prince Aemond!" Catherryn squealed as she grabbed Alyarra's arm eagerly. Alyarra stretched her neck to see the fight happen, and she would gasp slightly as Aemond lunged at the more inexperienced swordsman.

Catherryn jumped to her feet as Aemond would attack Jon with his sword about a thousand times, never seizing in the way he swung his sword brutally. "Alyarra! He's going to kill him!" Catherryn hissed as she watched the pair spar. Her little hands moved to the railing, and Alyarra was scared that Catherryn was going to fling herself over the railing just to help her lover.

"He's not going to hurt him. They're just sparring." Alyarra answered as finally Aemond brought his sword to Jon's neck, ending their match. Catherryn breathed a sigh of relief and she took her sit once again next to Alyarra.

Aemond's one eye found the balcony, his eye locking with Alyarra's. He gave her a small smirk as he took on his next opponent, and then the next after him. Aemond was brutal. No knight of the castle could beat him, he was almost as good as the white cloaks. Alyarra was thoroughly impressed. Although she knew he was great as soon as he beat Cregan back at Winterfell.

Finally Aemond finished his training, and Alyarra made her way down the stairs of the balcony and into the courtyard. Aemond open his arms slightly as Alyarra walked towards him with a small coy smile on her face.

"My beautiful girl... How did you wake up today?" Aemond asked softly as he took her arms in his, his gaze going over her lovingly.

"Good. But you know I was quite surprised to see all of the new things you've gotten me. And all of the girls that are to be my new maidens? Isn't all that excessive?" Alyarra asked as Aemond shrugged. Nothing was too much for her.

"Excessive, my love? How could it? You deserve it all. And that isn't even the beginning of all of the things I shall give you." Aemond replied, earning a smile from her.

"And a knight to follow me everywhere? It is s lot." Alyarra stated whilst Aemond chuckled. "Well you are a princess now, Alyarra. And you need protection whenever I am not around, my sweet." Aemond responded as she nodded her head slowly.

Aemond leaned towards her, planting a tender kiss on her forehead. The people around the courtyard would stare and whisper at the display of affection but Aemond cared little for them. He would show her affection any chance he got, she was his wife now.

Alyarra was happy.

Their relationship had been a war, fought fiercely by both sides. Aemond had tried and choke her by becoming possesive and controlling of her. And Alyarra would claw at the attacks, trying to free herself of the chains even if her attempts were feeble. But war was over. And they would never go back there.

He wasn't trying to choke her anymore, and she wasn't clawing back at him. They were embracing their love for each other, their yearning for each other. They basked in the way they needed eachother.

But while Aemond and Alyarra basked in their newfound happiness, a brokenhearted prince watched from afar. He seethed bitterly as he watched the two. She was supposed to be his. And when did that prince ever take no for an answer?

He never did. And in his mind he convinced himself he was right, and he convinced himself he needed to break them apart.
