Nine

Alyarra walked steady towards the library, as she had heard from the other ladies that the Prince Aemond was heading there after court. She wanted to speak to him, as he seemed to be ignoring her for some odd reason. The lady wished to speak with him, as that was what she enjoyed the most.

As Alyarra reached the library, she was faced with Ser Criston Cole standing at the door. An unsual sight as he was not Aemond's knight, but Alyarra assumed maybe the Queen was with her son.

"Lady Stark, how may I help you?" Ser Cristonn asked as Alyarra gave him a kind smile and motioned to the door.

"I ask to speak with the Prince Aemond, my fine knight. I heard he was in the library." Alyarra stated as Criston made a face. A face that the lady could recognize as smug.

"He wishes to not be bothered, he is in a lesson." Criston stated as Alyarra frowned. A lesson? The girl looked at the door and almost as if she willed it, the door opened to reveal Aemond.

Alyarra smiled at him widely but her smile faltered as she noticed a noblewoman walking behind him. She could recognize her as Lady Edwina of House Celtigar. Why were they together in the library?

Aemond stood in front of Alyarra and looked down at her slowly, a stoic expression on his face. Alyarra gave him a curtly nod as he looked at her expressionless.

"Lady Alyarra. For why do you seek me?" Aemond asked coldly as Alyarra's heart beat in her chest rapidly. She did not understand this, she did not understand any of it.

"I wondered if I could speak with you, my prince." Alyarra said, almost whispering. She was not insecure, she never had been. But standing there in front of Aemond as he stood with another woman, it made her feel as insecure as a woman could.

"I find myself rather busy at this moment." Aemond answered and before she could even process what he said, he was off walking down the hall. Edwina Celtigar looked at Alyarra with a smug look in her face and moved away, following the prince down the hall.

Alyarra stood there in shock at Aemond and the entire situation. Ever since yesterday he had been ignoring her and now she finally confirmed that he was giving her the cold shoulder for some reason she did not know.

Alyarra composed herself quickly, looking at Criston who seemed to be holding in a laugh. What a vile ugly man. Alyarra thought.

The lady turned on her heel and walked the opposite direction of where Aemond went with Edwina. She walked rapidly, wanting to reach her chambers as quickly as possible.

Had she done something to upset the prince? She certainly did not, she was sure. Alyarra had been nothing but kind and warm to him, so this coldness from his part was unwarranted. Alyarra walked hurriedly amd suddenly bumped into someone, making her tumble to the ground beneath her.

Alyarra huffed in annoyance as she looked up to see Aegon standing over her. He was always around somehow. The boy laughed at the lady and held his hand out for her to take. The lady took it and stood up with his help.

"You almost took me out, my lady. You should watch where you're going." Aegon said in a teasing manner as Alyarra stayed quiet.

"Are you alright?" Aegon asked as Alyrra shrugged her shoulders and sighed. "I just want to lock my self in my chambers right now and have nobody talk to me." Alyarra confessed as Aegon frowned.

"What is wrong, Alyarra?" Aegon asked as Alyarra shrugged her shoulders. She adjusted her dress and took a breath. She wasn't going to confess to him.

"Nothing is wrong, Aegon. Nothing at all." The girl replied sarcastically as he eyed her intensely and then motioned down the hall. "I was going to the pit to see Sunfyre, would you care to join?" Aegon asked as Alyarra thought it over.

In one hand, she knew that if Aemond found out he would probably not be joyous over it. But on the other hand, Aemond had just proved he cared little for her. He was even spending time with another lady of the court. The lady smirked slightly at Aegon and nodded her head.

Aegon couldn't help the smirk that crawled into his face as the pair walked together down to the dragonpit.

As they reached the pit, Aegon ordered for Sunfyre to be brought out and soon enough, the dragon crawled in front of the pair. The keepers held him back as the dragon growled at the two. Aegon did not seemed fazed though. He approached his dragon easily, "Lykiri." And the dragon calmed down instantly.

Alyarra could not help but be amazed at the bond that Aegon had with Sunfyre. The dragon did everything and anything his master ordered. Dragons were almost like people, they understood their masters perfectly. "Come, he wants attention." Aegon told Alyarra as the girl walked towards the dragon slowly.

"Give me your hand." Aegon demanded as Alyarra obeyed. The boy brought the girl's habd to the dragon's snout. The beast tilted it's head down, almost as if surrendering to her touch. Alyarra smiled as she looked uo at Aegon who was staring at her.

"He is such a good boy." Alyarra boasted as Aegon laughed vividly. "Oh come on, he is not a mutt. He is a mighty dragon, I'm sure he takes offense to you calling him a good boy." Aegon teased as Alyarra chuckled.

"But he is so good!" She chirped as Aegon raised a brow. He grabbed Alyarra and pulled her away from the dragon suddenly, "Dracarys Sunfyre!" Aegon yelled as suddenly an engulfing ball of golden flame left the dragon's mouth.

"Why did you do that?!" Alyarra beat on Aegon, hitting his shoulder as the boy threw his head back in laughter. "You should have seen your face!" Aegon laughed as Alyarra rolled her eyes, her heart still beating hard from the scene.

"You scared me Aegon!" Alyarra shrieked as the boy continued laughing. Alyarra glared at him playfully but as he continued cackling, she couldn't help but join in.

The pair seemed to greatly enjoy each other's company. Aegon thought the Lady Alyarra was the most beautiful girl at court, and he found her to be a good companion. He was glad that he finally had a chance alone with her, away from his brother.

On the other hand, Alyarra thought that Aegon was a joy to be around. He made her laugh whenever he had the chance, and he always seemed to be there whenever she felt down. She appreciated the prince, and truly considered him a good friend.

After spending some more time with Sunfyre, the pair left the dragonpit and walked together through the halls of the Red Keep. As they walked down a hall, they came face to face with Catherryn who looked happy to see her superior.

"My lady Alyarra, the Princess Helaena has ordered me to fetch you. She wants to know if you would enjoy reading with her this afternoon." Catherryn said as Alyarra nodded her head happily.

"Of course she does." Aegon whispered, an annoyed tone apparent in his voice. Of  course his good for nothing sister wife would interrupt the pair. Aegon thought.

"I would be most joyous to join the Princess Helaena. I will see you later on, my prince." Alyarra said curtly and walked away from the prince.

Catherryn and Alyarra walked side by side on the way to the Princess Helaena's chambers. "Say Catherryn, what do you happen to know of Edwina Celtigar?" Alyarra asked as Catherryn frowned in confusion.

"Not much. I heard she had joined court a few years ago. She is in search of a husband of high standing, as we all are." Catherryn told the lady as Alyarra nodded. Of course she is.

Why was Aemond giving her the time of day? She could not find herself understanding. But ultimately she decided to forget it. If Aemond wanted to give his attentions to another lady then she would pour her attentions elsewhere. Somewhere they were desired.

"Why don't the other Ladies give me the time of day? I feel ignored by most of them." Alyarra asked frankly as the pair reached Helaena's chambers. The two stopped in front of the door as Catherryn gave the girl a small smile.

"Well they obviously are envious of you. Most of them were sent to court to capture Prince Aemond's heart, and not one has even gotten his attentions. But as soon as you got to court, he seemed pretty interested in you." Catherryn pointed out as Alyarra sighed.

"Wel he is all theirs. The prince seems no longer interested in me." Alyarra spoke truthfully, making Catherryn frown.

"Whatever do you mean?" The lady-in-waiting asked. Alyarra pressed her lips together and shrugged her shoulders, looking at the knight stationed outside of Helaena's chambers as if asking for him to open the door.

The doors opened to reveal Helaena sitting by herself reading as two maids coddled two small children. The Princess looked up from her book and gave the lady a small smile, motioning her to come over.

"Lady Alyarra, I am glad you decided to join me today." Helaena spoke quietly as Alyarra nodded her head kindly.

"Of course I came, my princess." Alyarra answered kindly as Helaena smiled and looked at her children. The princess stood from her seat and walked to the toddlers, grabbing the girl from the maid's grasp.

"Lady Alyarra, this is Jaehaera. And that is Jaehaerys. My children." Helaena introduced the babes as Alyarra smiled at the cute toddlers in fromt of her. The lady moved to the maid that held Jaehaerys and grabbed his chubby hand.

"Pleasure to meet you, my prince." Alyarra jested as Helaena smiled softly. "They are the cutest, Helaena." Alyarra gushed as the princess smiled.

"Two dragons and a wolf. The wolf won't survive." Helaena said suddenly as Alyarra frowned. What does that mean? Alyarra wondered. She had already gotten used to Helaena's rare sayings, but they never ceased to surprise the lady.

"How has your day been today?" Alyarra asked the Princess, changing the subject. Helaena shrugged as she handed Jaehaera back to her maiden.

"I went to court and came back to read." The princess answered as Alyarra pressed her lips together. The lady pitied the princess quite a lot. She was almost always cooped up in her chambers with the children.

It made Alyarra feel guilty when she spent time with Aegon, as that was time that he could be spending with his children.

"How about instead of reading we stroll the gardens? It would be fun, don't you think?" Alyarra asked the princess as she looked at her children.

"Oh I don't know, the children get fussy whenever they go to the gardens." Helaena contested as Alyarra looked at the maids.

"Will the both of you be ever so kind and care for the children here whilst Helaena and myself stroll the gardens?" Alyarra asked as the maids both nodded their heads.

"Of course my lady." One of the maids answered as Alyarra gave her a nod and turned to Helaena. "Come on, I know you love the outdoors. Let's go..." Alyarra urged the princess who looked at her children and then at Alyarra.

Helaena smiled at the lady and nodded her head once. "Alright but we have to be back soon, as it will be time for their feeding." The princess stated as Alyarra nodded her head yes.

"Come on!" Alyarra encouraged Helaena, grabbing one of the princess' arms in hers. The pair walked alongside one another and although they were in silence it was a good comfortable one.

When Alyarra first got to King's Landing, she had grown weary of her time spent with Helaena as she had found it to quite boring, but as days passed the princess had opened up more to the Lady of Stark. And although they spent a lot of time in silence, it didn't mind Alyarra.

The two girls walked alongside one another in the gardens, appreaciating the flowers. It was something that Alyarra loved to do, as her favorite thing was to take in all of the colors as Winterfell lacked them.

"I have always wanted to visit Winterfell, look at all the snow and ice. I am sure Jaehaerys and Jaehaera would love to play in the snow." Helaena spoke quietly as Alyarra smiled widely.

"The Targaryens should come visit Winterfell soon. I am sure my brother would love to host all of you, our castle is plenty big." Alyarra spoke as Helaena gave her a small nod.

As the girls walked through the gardens, they were being watched from afar.

Aemond stood at a balcony in the Red Keep, staring down at Alyarra and Helaena walk together with their arms enterwined. It was a rare sight as Helaena did not like anyone touching her, so Aemond was intrigued as to why she allowed Alyarra to hold her arm.

Aemond felt a subtle joy inside of him, as Helaena looked happy as she walked with Alyarra and he had always wanted his sister to be happy.

Aemond had left the Lady Celtigar right after Alyarra saw them together. He pretty much had only wanted the girl to see them together, so she could feel the jealousy he felt whenever she was with his brother.

He did not care for the Lady Celtigar, not one bit. He did care for Alyarra, but it enfuriated him that she seemed to enjoy spending time with Aegon. Because who even likes Aegon?

He didn't have anything intelligent to say.

Once again, Aemond found himself with the Lady Stark on his mind. Something he had grown accustomed to, as she was everything that ran through his mind these last few days.
