Chapter Twenty

"Where are the snow samples?" Sir Seto asked without even looking up from his table. The Snow Girl had silently climbed down the ladder in hopes of not to be noticed.

"Well, um." She walked to the sorcerer. "I got ONE snow sample..." She held out the tiny kitten to him.

He turned to face her in confusion. With the cat one inch away from his face, he jumped back, causing the table to wobble.

"Ugh. Well, it's too late to send you out for more samples. I can get by without them."

The kitten tilted his head.

"Do you have any food for the cat?" The Snow Girl asked.

"Oh, um, yes. There is some steak in the mess hall by the bonfire."

She put the kitten down, and turned back to the ladder. The small kitty started rubbing against the sorcerer's legs.

"Do you have to do that, kitty? I'm fusing gun powder with red stone, so you may not want to trip me."

The Snow Girl giggled as she climbed out.

The Snow Girl walked with her back against the tent, trying her best to avoid the heat of the bonfire.

"Owe! Owe owe owe!" A little too close.

"What's going on over there?" A deep voice boomed. It was the general.

"Oh crap." She thought to herself. The one thing she didn't want to do as the newest recruit was draw attention to herself.

She leaned even farther back, hoping not to be seen. But the tent ripped, and she fell back into it.

"Ugh." She groaned, landing on her stomach. When she did a push up to get to her feet, she looked up.

Major Deadlox was lurking in bed reading a book. His jaw dropped.

"Oh... Hi. And uh..." The Snow Girl bolted out'a there in a hurry. Talk about first impressions.
