Chapter Ten

The squid girl sat up. A blue cape was laid over her.

She tried to stand up, but slipped, for the land she was on was one block by two blocks wide.

She had fully recovered, and her cut had stopped bleeding. She was able to glide through the water even though she had fallen.

But then she stopped, and looked at the cape still in her hand.

She rocketed to the surface, and looked in the direction she had come from.

There was the stranger, standing on the island. His hair blew in the wind. He was looking her in the eyes.

She just stared, not knowing what to do.

Then still clutching his cape, she dove backwards into the water, and was gone.

----------

"He...." She was about to enter the portal. "He saved me."

She stopped, only inches away from entering the squid demention.

She closed her eyes, and remembered the exact words of the squid king.

"It must be annihilated." A tear welded in her eye, and disappeared in the water.

"They were going to kill me." She thought. "An innocent child, newspawn to life."

Then she thought of their plans.

"They only spared me to use me as a warrior." She bubbled in anger. "A slave."

She looked up, holding the cape to her chest.

"The man. He SAVED me." She looked at the cape. "The one... Destined... to...." She held the cape close. "...Kill him." She held her head down, her eyes closed.

"Sky." She brushed the cape to her cheek

Her eyes burst open, determination across her face, and eyes.

"No." She clenched the cape in her fist. "It won't." She sprung from the bottom, and burst through the surface of the water. Her hair flying, water splashing.

She took one last look at the blue and black portal below. Then swam away.

She would never return.
