Chapter nineteen
Chapter nineteen
Several hours later, neither princess nor former prince made any progress. Alibaba couldn't get his full djinn equip to work yet, while Amirah still couldn't activate her djinn at all. She was actually extremely bummed about it, and purposely didn't stay long after the training session was over. Although she also had other reasons for leaving abruptly, the main one being memories of the night before with Sinbad.
Sinbad acted rather normal and professional besides only using her first name when addressing her. Amirah didn't mind much, but it made her feel strange. The only other people that called her just by her name were Armakan and Sharrkan- no one else. Not even Zaahira or any of the generals.
Amirah pushed her thoughts of the king aside, realizing she wasn't quite sure where she was. She was on the island's shore, walking along the beach, but getting back wasn't something she knew how to do. Accepting her fate of being on the shore for a while, she looked out at the sea.
It was just as vast and beautiful as every other time she looked at it, but now it carried a sense of fear with it. The waves lightly splashing her feet reminded her of her captors; the mystery of what lies beneath the waves causing her to wonder where they'd taken her. She didn't want to hate the ocean, but until the mystery was solved she wasn't sure she could trust it for anything.
Amirah sighed and sat in the dry beach sand, pulling out her fan. She frowned at it, looking it over, "Why won't you work with me, Antheia? Did you change your mind? I'm not suited to be a king's candidate, is that it?" She hoped for a reply. Nothing. Annoyed, she tossed the fan into the sand beside her.
She raised her head, looking up at the sky where the sun was almost completely set, the stars beginning to shine. She took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. Continuing to watch the sky change, she began to sing- something she hadn't done since she first arrived in Sindria.
"Doushite sora wa konna ni aokute,
nani mo kanashimi wo shiranu you ni
Itsumo tamerawazu ashita e to kuzureochiru..."
Amirah trailed off, her eyes drifting to her metal vessel beside her. The eight-pointed star on the handle was glowing brightly. Picking it up in confusion, Amirah tried singing again, wondering if that was the cause.
"Inochi wa tarinai mama umarete kuru no ne
Itami ga mitasu mono mo aru no ne
Kakeochita kokoro ni anata ga furete..."
Sure enough, the fan shined brighter. As Amirah marveled at the fan, the light slowly faded. Why is she reacting to my singing...? Shaking her head, Amriah decided to continue:
"Sora wa takaku kaze wa utau
Yume wo miteta
Yorokobi e to
Hito wa itsuka tadoritsukeru
Kodomo no hitomi de anata wa shinjita
Soba ni iru yo
Kooritsuita mori no nukete
Sono hitomi ga sekai no nageki ni,
mayowanu you ni..."
Amirah stumbled to her feet, her fan glowing white and beginning to change shape. Before she had time to process the information, her fan extended into a long, silver, staff. The ends were lined with gold, and an intricate pattern of leaves and flowers trailed its way around the staff, carved into it. The princess was at a loss for words, gawking at the weapon in her hands.
Speaking of her hands, Amirah gasped at golden gauntlets on her forearms. They covered from her wrist to just before her elbow, and had the same floral design lining the ends. Another shock was that the tips of her fingers were colored a shimmering gold that wouldn't rub away no matter how hard she tried. "So...this is a weapon equip?!" It was nothing like she thought it would be.
"Ah, there you are! I was looking for you," Amirah looked up to see Sinbad walking towards her.
"King Sinbad!" Amiriah smiled, meeting him halfway. She had no room for embarrassment or anything like it; she was far too happy. "Look! I did it!"
Sinbad was surprised as the princess ran over to him. There was a child-like excitement in her eyes that he'd never seen in her before. It reminded him remarkably of Zaahira. Amirah was practically bouncing with excitement as she showed the king her metal vessel. Sinbad smiled, "Congratulations. Have you tested out what it can do yet?"
"No, I only just got it," Amirah shook her head. "How do I attack with it?"
"Well," Sinbad wasn't sure the time to train was at night on a beach, but he couldn't say no when she was so happy. "Try and focus your magoi into the staff." He took her free hand and placed it on the staff in front of her other hand, then aimed the staff at the ocean- just in case.
"Ok..." Amirah stared intently at her staff, willing it to do something. She tried to imagine her magoi flowing into it- whatever that meant. A few moments later the staff vibrated, and a ball of energy shot out of it at intense speeds, launching into the ocean. The recoil caused Amirah to jump back, joyfully chirping, "I did it! I did something!"
The staff was still vibrating rapidly, making Amirah's hands feel a bit numb. She turned back to Sinbad, readying her staff, "Spar with me, King Sinbad!"
Sinbad chuckled, "Alright, alright." He drew his sword, raising it to the princess. "Whenever you're ready."
Amirah smiled and instantly attacked, her staff colliding with Sinbad's metal vessel. Their weapons wrestled, the curved top of Amirah's staff catching the tip of Sinbad's sword so he couldn't move. Amirah pressed harder, feeling the vibrations of her staff hitting the metal of the sword.
Realizing the situation, Sinbad jumped back, pulling his sword away, "Woah!"
"What?" Amirah's stance faltered.
"You nearly broke my sword." Sinbad looked his weapon over carefully. The tip was cracked, but could still be repaired.
Amirah's eyes widened, "I nearly broke a metal vessel?! How?"
Sinbad gingerly sheathed his sword, then took a closer look at Amirah's staff. "Your staff is vibrating so quickly that it cracked the metal. You must be using Sound Magic."
"Like Zepar?" Amirah looked down at her weapon in amazement. She raised it to do more, but the equip vanished as soon as she moved. Frowning, Amirah turned her fan over in her hands, "What happened?"
"You used too much magoi at once, your body isn't used to it," Sinbad explained.
Amirah returned her fan to it's place in her belt. She clenched and unclenched her hands. They were completely numb, and felt like they were still vibrating. "I think I need to figure out how to keep the vibrations on the top of the staff...My hands are numb."
Sinbad nodded, "We'll figure that out in the days to come, for now you should get some rest."
"Alright," Amirah agreed, following the king as he led them back to the palace. On the way, she excitedly explained how she'd gotten her weapon equip to work in the first place. As they neared their rooms, Amirah added softly, "Also...thank you for the other night... But it was unprofessional of me, I won't let it happen again."
Sinbad gave her a closed-eyed smile, waving her off, "No, no, don't worry about it. I'm always here if you need me. Alright?" He opened his eyes, looking directly into Amirah's.
Their gazes held for a few seconds before Amirah clammed up, blushing and turning her head away. She muttered, "Ok..." She quickly opened the door to her bedroom and snuck in. Her blush deepened as she heard Sinbad laugh.
"Goodnight, Amriah."
"...Goodnight, S-Sinbad..."

Author's Note-
YukinoMusume see it's not bad or evil xD
Also I'm 100% original and used my fave ending from Fate/Zero as the song Amirah sang...(I love it a lot ok...also sorta fits? not really...)
English lyrics of what she sang:
"Why is the sky so blue,
like it does not know any sadness,
it keeps crumbling towards tomorrow without hesitation."
then "Life was born with something missing to begin with.
There are also things that are full of pain.
This runaway heart is touched by you."
(she didn't sing the next two lines in the song but then:)
"The sky is high with the wind singing
To the joy
Of having dreams
People will arrive one day
Such faith is in your childlike eyes
I am right by your side
We get out of the freezing forest
So that your eyes will not be deceived
By the world's grief..."
sorry this is long #BlameWattpad2k16 also some of the lyrics are a bit weird but I couldn't find better translations lmao
