Nightmares ~03/13/22~~

Jin did not grow in a good household when he was younger. On the outside, his family looked normal and happy, but that was the cover story. On the inside, it was much worse. Abuse, heartache, all caused by one individual.

Jin lost his mother at the age of ten to a 'spontaneous' house fire, a gas leak that got too bad to the point one small spark would ignite it. That was the story at least. After her death, poor ten-year-old Jin was forced to live with his father as he was the next in line to raise the child. Oh how that was awful. Jin was plucked from school to stay home full time, to take care of his father as his own personal slave. All while being viciously beaten, not being fed, and forced to stay up for days on end to clean the house.

Five years that all went on until a now fifteen-year-old Jin finally had the courage to leave, bloody and exhausted, overly baggy clothes and no shoes. When he left, it was the chilly month of October, running aimlessly just to get away. When he was at his lowest, someone decided to help him. To take him in and keep him warm. He's forever grateful to the woman that saved him, she now being his adoptive mother.

Night remembers the day very clearly, of course. That was the day she decided to become a mother under adrenalin. She doesn't regret it in the slightest since this poor baby needed her, feeling it was her duty to take him. The teenager adjusted quickly to living in her care, finally warm and loved by someone who actually cares about him. The mental and physical scars healed with time. For the most part. Abuse has a way of hanging on for the longest time, in any form. Jin's just so happens to be nightmares, very vivid ones at that. A lot of times he’s able to handle them himself, not wanting to bother his new mother with his issues. She might get rid of him if he does… As mentioned, Jin is normally able to handle the nightmares, whether they wake him up or in the morning, he wakes up with his face drenched in tears.

No matter how bad they got…

Jin stirred slightly in his bed of his new home, trying his best to shake the nightmare that clamped down on his subconscious. It was one of the same ones he’s dealt with before, it never meant it was less terrifying. It faded with time and his body stilled, rest finally seeming likely after so long. Happy trees, beautiful sunsets, his adopted mother preparing dinner in the kitchen, the teen felt himself smile at the calm atmosphere. The sense of normality brought ease to his terrified body, a soft sigh passing his lips. The dream shifted slightly to the mother and son sitting at the dinner table, eating peacefully and carrying on a wonderful conversation. All before a knife came out of nowhere, piercing Night in the back harshly. Blood splattered onto a black clad assailant and soon another stab was placed, burying deeper into his adoptive mother’s back. The teen couldn’t move, frozen in place and forced to watch the murder, his mother collapsing dead on the table. Tears poured down ghostly pale cheeks as the assailant smiled maliciously at him, a slight familiarity in the glowing green eyes..
“You’ve always been a disgrace, Jin… You don’t deserve a mother.” A scary dark voice hissed, the teen’s eyes widening in realization. His father… The deadbeat he called his father chuckled as he cleaned the dead woman’s blood from his knife, strolling around the table. “You can’t escape me, you know that you pathetic worm…”
“N-no, please… J-just leave me alone…” The horrified teen pleaded, speaking when a gloved hand grabbed a fistful of his black hair. His head got pulled back roughly, bleary eyes looking fearfully at the man he once knew, his knife gleaming in the light.
“Disgrace… You’re the reason your mother is dead. Both of them.” His father laughed maniacally, lifting his knife up and bringing it towards his son’s neck.
“N-no, please…! I’ll be good, I promise…! I’ll be a good-“ Jin cried uncontrollably, not being able to finish his pleas when the blade sliced him across the throat-

Jin sat up with a heavy gasp and a cough, his hand shooting up and holding his throat tightly. He breathed heavily and cried, shaking horribly as sweat dripped down his forehead. That was new… He threw his blankets off and grabbed his security blanket, leaving his room and pattering down the stairs. He sniffled and looked at the closed door in front of him, furrowing his eyebrows and knocking softly. He heard soft footsteps and the knob fiddle, the door opening and his mother standing there. She was okay-
“Jin? What’s wrong, are you okay?” Night asked softly, concerned when she saw the tears coating his cheeks. Jin took in a breath and started crying, pushing into her arms and sobbing into her chest.
“I-I thought you were gone…!” He sobbed, Night’s heart breaking the more he did. “I-I watched you die, I-I thought it was real…!”
“Shh honey, calm down, it’s okay… It was only a nightmare, I’m still here.” She tried to calm him, pulling him into the room and closing the door. Jin whined and coughed, sitting on his mama’s bed when she helped him.
“I-I didn’t wanna bother you… I-I didn’t want you to leave…” He hiccuped, slowly laying his head against the pillow.
“Baby boy, I’m not going anywhere. I’m your mother, it’s my job to help you through these problems.” Night kissed his head and tucked him in, getting in on the other side.
    “… I-I thought I could handle it myself…”
“How long have the nightmares been bothering you baby?” The mother asked, looking at him. Jin bit his lip and curled up, brushing a hand under his eye as she looked at her.
    “… A-a couple months…”
“Oh honey…” Night sighed, reaching forward and petting his head. “Don’t you ever be afraid to come to me for help. I’m your mother, it’s my job to help you.”
    “P-promise…?”
    “I promise…”

Jin moved over and ended up in her arms, his mama kissing his head and turning off the light. Darkness enveloped the room and a gentle hand brushed through his messy black hair. The teenager yawned softly and nuzzled into her chest, cuddled up and closing his eyes. Night put him to sleep rather quickly which made her smile softly, kissing his head and letting out a breath before letting herself succumb to the beauties of sleep…~
