Make Them Whole ~05/08/23~

Jin stared at his reflection in the mirror in front of him, his breath hitched as he adjusted his tie. He was never one to dress all fancy, but knew of the occasion. He needed to look nice. For his parents. Alex looked at him from afar and smiled, walking up and clapping his hands on his nephew's shoulders.
    "Mijo, you look so handsome. Are you ready for today?" The older man asked, fixing messy black locks. The teen looked down for a moment, fiddling with the button on his suit coat before looking back up at his uncle.
    "As ready as I'll ever be... Are you sure I can do the honors...? After all, you're her brother..." Jin was nervous though he tried to hide it, Alex chuckling and pinching his cheek gently.
    "While that may be true, I feel it would be more special if it were you to walk her down the aisle." He winked, dealing a faux punch to his nephew's shoulder. "Besides, I have to stand at the end with your dad. I'm his best man, remember?"
    "Right..."

It was a beautiful day in May, the sun shining through the windows of a wonderful venue outside Beigoma City. It was the day Night and Hartz were to be married after putting it off for another year, deciding to focus on settling Jin into their little family before dragging him through a ceremony. Now, with things settled down and the time right, the couple could finally tie the knot and make the family whole. Jin looked back into the mirror and frowned, his shoulders drooping slightly as his thoughts nagged him. Alex frowned slightly, resting a gentle hand on the teen's shoulder.
    "What's on your mind, kiddo?" The NFL player asked, eyebrows furrowed in concern.
    "I don't... I don't know..." Jin honestly didn't know why he was feeling so down in the dumps. His parents were getting married! He should be happy for them.
    "Mijo, what's going on? You can talk to me..."
    "I just- What if they break up...? Would it be my fault...? They already had to put the wedding off because of me, I don't want them to break up because of me too..."

Oh,  Alex sees the problem now...

The poor thing was feeling guilt over something outside his control, and now he's worried to death about divorce.
    "Ay, Dios, dame fuerzas..." He mumbled under his breath, pulling Jin into a hug. "Look buddy, do you know how much your parents love you?"
    "A lot..."
    "Exactly. And you know how much they love each other, right?"
    "Yeah... They've been together since high school..."
    "Don't remind me..." Alex chuckled dryly, a twitch in his brow. Jin smiled slightly at his answer, laughing softly himself. "Nevertheless, and no matter what, they won't ever blame you for problems in their marriage. Your mamá and dad were beyond thrilled about taking you into their care, they won't do anything to ruin that trust."
    "Yeah, you're right..." The teenager took in a deep breath and nodded, his shoulders straightening as if a huge weight was lifted off them. "Alright, I'm ready..."

The two walked down the hall where the bridal party was stationed, Alex winking and wishing his nephew the best of luck before walking off. Jin stood nervously in front of the door, not exactly knowing what to expect on the other side as he reached out and knocked softly. He could hear the women inside chatting as footsteps approached, his abuela yelling in Spanish.
    "Alejandro Frederick, te juro que si regresas para causar un alboroto, voy a-" The door was pulled open as Alice poked her head out, her glare melting upon seeing her grandson standing there instead of her son. "Ah, Jin! Noche, should I?"
    "Let him in." His mother called out, Alice smiling and opening the door. The older Latina motioned him inside and the teen nodded, swallowing his anxiety and walking in.

The bridesmaids all gasped and fawned about how cute he looked, his mama's maid of honor pinching at his now inflamed cheeks.
    "It's so nice to see ya all dressed up!" Heavenly smiled, laughing as Jin tried pushing her hands away.
    "Are we sure this is the same kiddo? He looks so proper! Night, why don't you dress him up more?" A bridesmaid gushed, fixing the teen's hair.
    "Ay, let him be, girls. He doesn't like to be crowded." Night laughed softly, watching her bridesmaids groan at her protest. Jin whined in disapproval and broke away from the women, pausing when his eyes landed on his mother. Night was dressed in a beautiful off-the-shoulder wedding gown, her blonde locks done in an updo and falling down her back in a braid with a purple ribbon tied delicately at the end. Green eyes stared in shock at how beautiful his mama looked, tears filling his eyes.
    "Mama, you look... You look amazing..." Jin smiled, holding his arms out. Night smiled back and pulled him into a sweet hug, kissing his head.
    "Thank you baby. Are you ready to walk your mama down the aisle?"

The tears already clouding green eyes finally fell down pale cheeks, Night pulling back and cupping his cheeks.
    "Baby, what's wrong?" She asked sweetly, trying to brush them away. Jin tried to open his mouth and answer yet no words fell, leaning into her soft hands. The mother felt tears of her own in her eyes as she moved her hands slightly, trying to dry his tears. "Baby, are these happy tears?" Her son nodded slightly as he let out a soft sob, trying to smile at her and finding it difficult. "You promise?" Another nod.
     "I-I'm just... So happy for you..." The teen cried, Night's heart clenching with happiness.

The two had been through everything together, starting from when Night found him at his lowest. They have watched each other grow in the past couple years and shared a wonderful relationship as a mother and son. She smiled and brushed her fingers across his cheeks, wiping away his tears and kissing his head.
    "How did I end up with such a great young man as my son?" Night asked as she gave him another hug, pulling back and taking a deep breath. "Are you ready?"
    "Y-yeah... Yeah, I'm ready..." Jin nodded and sniffled, rubbing away the remaining tears and taking Night's hand gently. The bridesmaids all looked at each other and smiled, Alice pulling out her phone.
    "Get together, ladies! Let me get a picture." The older woman smiled, motioning them together. Jin looked nervous as the rest of the party moved to stand next to Night, thinking they all wanted a picture of just them and started moving away. "Ah, Jin, vuelve al lado de tu mamá."
    "S-sorry..." He squeaked, standing back next to the beautiful bride. Night giggled and kissed his forehead, everyone standing tall and smiling. Alice counted and took a few pictures and shut her phone off, slipping it back into her purse before clapping her hands together.
    "Okay! Ladies, it's time to get into position! Make sure you have your flowers and get out to the groomsman taking you down the aisle. Night, you and Jin stay here until I come get you. Let's go!"

Everyone cheered and grabbed their bouquets before exiting the room, Alice kissing her daughter and grandson goodbye for now. The time was finally coming for the wedding to begin, and now Jin was feeling less nervous about it.

~~~
Music played sweetly as bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the aisle to the head on ceremony, when Hartz stood nervously. The whole day felt surreal even if they were planning it for some time, trying to keep his breathing steady. Two-colored eyes scanned all of the attendees' faces and found a mix of overwhelming happiness in each feature, looking at his twin brother as he broke away from the girl he came down the aisle with. Phi winked at him and stood off to the side with Alex and the other groomsmen. The music faded as the start of the entry music started to play, causing the young groom's heart to leap, his eyes trained to the door as all the guests stood.
The double doors opened not long after and showed off the bride, standing with her arm linked into Jin's. Night looked ahead and found her husband-to-be already tearing up, looking down to her son and taking a deep breath.
    "Ready?" She asked softly, Jin looking up and nodding.
    "Yeah..." He breathed, the two staring ahead and starting their walk down the aisle. Time felt as if it slowed as they did, Hartz biting his lip as tears threatened to overflow and fall down pale skin. His family, his family, was finally going to be whole. All one piece for years to come. He finally had one...
    "Who offers this young woman to be married?" The officiant asked as they finished their approach, Jin swallowing the lump he didn't know he had.
    "As her son, I offer my mother to be married..." Jin said, keeping his voice steady as his eyes found his dad's. The teen smiled and squeezed his mama's hand, carefully passing her off to Hartz, Night kissing his head.
    "You did great honey, thank you..." She smiled, stepping carefully up on the small stage after passing her bouquet to Heavenly. Jin nodded and sat next to his abuela in the front row, tearing up already with how perfect his parents looked together. They really were made for each other...
"Dearly beloved, we gather here today to link these two souls in holy matrimony."~
