It only has been a year since Wojira's attack on Ninjago City along with Nya's Sacrifice which the Ninja soon disbanded after it.

Kai became a very bad sensei which he would teach kids to obliterate their enemies

Lloyd, had became a window washer since he felt like it was his fault that they lost Nya

Jay, he had moved out to Dr.Julien's lighthouse

Cole had stayed as a Ninja

Zane had turned off his emotion meter

While Felix and Pythor along with the Ex-Resistance continued to help and Protect Ninjago and find out about the Vengestone situation.

But none of the Ninja or Felix were ready when an old enemy returns with a team of old villains along with someone that both Lloyd and Felix believed to have died years ago.
