Dreams Won't Hurt You
All the children try to run,
To him it's part of the fun.
"Hey there." Jimin greeted her as soon as she fluttered her eyes open.
Bee groaned; annoyed at the fact that his face was the first thing she had to see in the morning. She quickly grabbed the covers that were tangled between her feet and then pulled it over her head.
"Hey, is that the way you greet your boyfriend in the morning?" Jimin pouts and inched closer to her to pull the covers away. Eventually, he didn't have to do that since Bee rips the sheets away herself and furrowed her eyebrows at him.
"You're not my boyfriend." Her voice sounded even more annoyed it sounded a little like she was growling but Jimin wasn't fazed even by a bit. He was used to this. Coming over to her home and personally waking her up when her friends failed to do so.
From what he knows, Bee has been having sleeping problems, even once to a point where she became an insomniac but Jimin would always be there for her. When she was having one of her roughest nights, she had called him over and she slept in his embrace and it was that day that Jimin believed that she needed him more than anyone else.
"I will be one day. Only until you realize how much I care for you." Jimin chuckles and wraps his arms around her. Usually Bee would resist, but this time she doesn't bother and rests her head in his chest. She took in his scent and it managed to calm her nerves and a sigh left her lips.
"Did you have a nightmare again?" Jimin asks and he felt her nodding in his chest. He tightened his hold around her and rubbed her back.
"It feels so real. It feels like I've been there before but I just can't remember where." She says, "Every time I turn to look at the person standing behind me I end up waking up in the middle of the night, sweating and panting as if I've been running so hard. I get so scared... but the dreams just won't stop Jimin." She whimpers a little.
Jimin sighs and pulls away from her, looking down at her. She stopped speaking and they both stared at each other for a while until Bee was the first one to look away, a light pink rising in her cheeks so she covers her face with the palm of her hands.
"Stop it. My face is swollen and I have ugly eye bags." She pouted behind her hands. Jimin smiles and gently pulls her hands away from her face. Bee was still pouting and Jimin found her extremely cute and he couldn't help but to smile wider.
He tucked in the stray strands of hair behind her ear and then leaned in closer. Bee shut her eyes really tight but then felt a soft kiss placed right below her left eye, where she thought her eye bags were most prominent but somehow just by that small contact, he could make everything feel a little bit more better.
"It's ok." He said, "They're just dreams, they won't hurt you." Jimin assured her and she believes him, relaxing in his hold.
It was Daisy's lunch break at Cookies & Cream and she decided to hang out in the back with Bee to watch her roll the dough for the next batch of baked goodies.
Bee felt a little bit annoyed with Daisy just staring at her with her arms crossed over her chest. She was just staring with a little smirk raised in the corner of her lips. She already didn't have enough sleep and was just really tired so before she could lash out at anyone else, Bee decides to calmly ask Daisy what her problem was.
"What is it Daisy?" Bee sighs as she notices the little smirk on her stupid little face grow wider.
"So" Daisy starts and clears her throat before continuing her sentence, "How are things going with Jimin?"
Bee stopped kneading and slams down her rolling pin on the table before firing dagger glares at Daisy's direction. Daisy was obviously not intimidated by her best friend's unspoken threats since she was already quite used to them. If her fingers weren't covered with flour and butter, Bee would be massaging her aching temples at the moment, or if she wanted to, she could just strangle her friend right then and there.
It was already spoken of and Bee already made sure that both Neesa and Daisy understood that she still wasn't ready to be in a relationship. Jimin was a nice guy as well as a nice friend, she knew that he cared a lot for her, but even if she wanted him; it wasn't easy to accept him so easily to be a part of her life.
The reason was unknown, but she had always had this strange gut feeling whenever she thought about it and that was what made her keep away from being involved in any relationships.
"Can we please not talk about this now?" Bee actually sighs in defeat. Besides, she was still tired and her muscles were aching, and her percentage level of energy exertion was close to a zero.
Daisy complied and lifted her hands, indicating that she was backing off from the subject.
"I know we've talked about this already, but I'm not going to stop bugging you till you really resolve this problem of yours. Both Jimin and your sleeping problem, alright?" Daisy smiled. Bee knows that she's just trying to help but dear god was she an annoying piece of sh-
"My lunch break is over anyway. I'd better get back to the cashier before Neesa flips." Daisy says before waving a small goodbye over to her friend who just nodded and is already cutting out cute little shapes in the cookie dough.
Bee vaguely remembers that the last time she looked at the clock hanging on the grey walls of her kitchen, it was 5 PM and she was certain that maybe an hour or two have already passed by, but the clock still didn't budge by a second.
Wiping away the flour from her hands with her apron, she dug into her jeans pockets and pulls out her phone to see what the time it really was. Her brows scrunched up into the middle of her face and tried to comprehend on what was going on. The seconds on her phone began counting down backwards, and then the minutes and then gradually the hours until it became 3 PM and then 2 PM and then 1 PM.
Bee jumps in her spot when she hears the voice of a girl giggling right behind her. She swiftly turns around to see who was behind her, but only the sound of pitter-pattering of small shoes were heard of and echoed in the kitchen. Bee then hears the door open and watches a small figure running out of the kitchen.
With quick and long steps, Bee follows whoever it was out the door and out the front and she freezes in her spot when she finds the shop empty. There were no customers and Neesa and Daisy were nowhere to be found.
She soon realises that she was having one of her dreams again. Bee shakes her head, trying to wake herself up. Pinching herself and smacking her face with the palm of her hands, but nothing worked.
'Why can't I wake up?' she thought to herself, on the verge of tears. Having nightmares during the night was one thing, but during the day was horrifying already.
As she was figuring a way out of her dream, from across the counter, she could see a head bob up and down and noticed it was the same girl from her dreams. The girl walked on into the corner of the shop and Bee just stood there, watching the girl walk up to a table and then with much difficulty, took a seat. The little girl swung her short legs and hummed a song. The same haunting song that Bee was quite familiar to now.
It was her. It was definitely the girl that Bee had seen last time at the old abandoned house.
Bee made her way slowly to the little girl. Maybe she knew what was going on or maybe she knew how to get out of this dream. Bee doubted it but it was worth a try. She arrived at the table the girl was sitting at and sits down opposite to her. The girl with no face looked at her, or that was what Bee thought she did.
"Hello unnie!" the girl said. Bee was still confused about how she could talk without even having a mouth but she quickly shook off the thought from her mind.
"Hey there." Bee tried to sound as friendly and less nervous as possible, "W-What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to play with you unnie." The girl said and Bee assumed that the little girl was excited by the way she lifted up both of her arms and then clapped them in the air.
"But umm, I'm quite busy right now. Why don't you play with your other friends?" Bee says and watches the girl slowly hang her head and she stays quiet.
"Besides you unnie, I only have one friend." The girl sniffled, "And I don't like playing with him." The last sentence came out as a whisper.
Bee knew and it was obvious who the little girl was talking about. Him. The one she was so afraid of the other night in the abandoned house. Bee definitely hated this feeling, but she was too curious to even question her own fear.
"Who is he?" Bee asked. The little girl lifted her head a little, she was shaking, but it looked like she was about to tell.
"When I'm alone or playing by myself, I-I call him The Slenderman." the little girl shook even more just by the name and Bee placed her hand over the little girls hand on the table to give her comfort. It seemed like it worked a little, because the girl took a deep breath and started talking again, "H-He wouldn't like it if I told you his real name though."
"Why? Why doesn't he want me to know?" Bee asked and her question seemed a little hasty and it startled the girl making her pull away her hands from under Bee's hands.
"Because you've met him before. This dream you're in right now, it's all his doing. He created this all just for you because he wants you to remember." The girl blurted and she starts sniffling again.
Again, Bees's brows furrowed and she bit her lip. Some secrets have finally been revealed but her mind was still hazy and nothing fit into place yet. Things just weren't making any sense anymore.
