Chapter 2
I tried to get some more sleep, hopeing that when they killed me, they did it while I was asleep, even though I was too weak to feel it. It's been a half hour since those two families came to look at us slaves, and the whole commotion in front of me went off. I sighed as I closed my eyes, and shsifted again, hearing the chains rattle in my cell. The boy across from me, stopped trying to get out, as he lied in the back of his cell, watching me. He sighed in frustraition as the sound of the door opened, and the guard that was in earlier, walked down the hall. He sighed as he stopped in front of my cell, and took out a pair of keys. He was holding a chain that they used at their leash, and a bag of blood under his arm. He stuck the keys in the keyhole as he jiggled them, and the bars opened, moving to let him through. The guard walked up to me, as he put his things down next to him. "Alright, let's go see a family that is thinking of taking you home. Behave while your with them, and hope you'll get out of here" the guard said, as he clipped the chain to the shackles that are on my wrists, and puled me up. He took the bag of blood as he wripped it open, and plopped it into my mouth, letting me drink it to regain my strength. Once the bag was empty, he yanked on the chiain, which was their way to get us to stand. I stood up as I felt weak, and almost fell back over, but ended up catching myself.
Once I was back on my feet, we slowley walked down the hall towards the door to get out of this section. It's been a long time since I left this partof the prison, so it felt weird to be out of the cell. I dragged my feet across the cement floor, going the slow speed with the guard, as we passed the rest of the prisoners. I looked at the rest of the kids in the other cells, seeing little kids huddled in the corner like I was, watching us as we passed over them. Other older kids, ran up and banged on the gate trying to bust out. They were yelling to get out, and for me to make a run for it. I would've ran for it, but I was still too weak, and had no motivation to do so. If only they knew how long I've been here, and that I grew to give into the vampires. If these kids did as they said, and just sat back, they'll probably survive until their 16. Though, it was probably better for them to bang until they did something, and die early rather than knowing your going to die at a young age anyway. I stopped when I saw a young boy at the age of four or five, lying back in his cell just like I was. Blood was stained all around him, and onto his wripped up clothes. He coughed as blood dripped out of his mouth and onto the floor, while he lied there. I heard the big door opened, as the guard pulled on my cuffs. "Hurry up" he said, as he pulled me into the white hallway, and locked the door behind us. He guided me down the hall, with me limping right behind him.
We took a turn as we stood in front of a hallway, with a glass door at the end of it. It looked like a little waiting room through the glass door. I saw the lights on, with a little chair sitting in front of the door. A nob to connect the chain sat on the floor in front as it got closer. Voices came from the room, as we got closer. The guard opened the door, as he sighed. "Alright, take as much time with her as you need, then let me know what you think once your done" he said, as I sat in the chair, an he connected the chain to the hook on the floor. I looked up at him as he sighed. He looked at me in the eye, as his red eyes darkened with anger. "You behave, even though your too weak to do anything. Be up and honest with them, and if I hear that your not good, well" he said with a slight chuckle. "Your times almost up anyways" he said, as he turned to the family. "We advise you not to take any blood, but take your time, and let me know your desision when your done" he said as he walked out, shutting the door behind him. I looked at the door, then looked down at my hands, as I moved them towards each other. The chains rattled against each other, but not that loud like in my cell. I sighed, as I heard an upbeat, chipper voice. "Hi" it said as I looked up. I saw the four vamps that staired me down earlier this morning, sitting on the oppostite side of the room. The one with the blue hair shifted as he spoke. "Do you know how to talk?" he asked, as I looked up at him. I stayed quiet at first, as I nodded. "Yeah" I said, silently and weakly. I wasn't trying to be shy, I just didn't have the strength to do anything. The one with the long brown hair turned towards the vampire that spoke. "She's defantly not going to last here" he said sounding worried about the situation that I was in.
The vampire with the blue hair cleared his throat as he spoke again. "Do you remember your name, or what they call you here?" he asked as I looked up more, and tried to keep my focus. "Skylar, I think. They refer to me as human. My cell is 195." I said, not even knowing anymore. The vampire nodded. "Nice name for a human your age. Do you have any parents that know your here?" he asked, as the other three watched me with curiosity. I sighed as I lowered my head, to look at the floor. "My family died, when I was young, I was only a kid when I first came here" I said, trying to bring my tone up, but I was too weak to even do that. The vampire with the one blue eye, and one red sat straiter in his seat. "Do you remember where you grew up?" he asked, as I nodded. "I grew up on an apple orchard. My family was poor, so we sold apples to survived. We also made baked goods to sell for more. We grew the apples on our own" I said. "So you know how to take care of plants and guardens?" the blue haired vamp asked. I nodded as I sighed. "Yeah, but it's been a while since I did it. I don't see gardens anymore." The room fell silent, as I tried to keep my head up, but I ended up resting it on the arm of the chair. I was sitting on my chains, which made my head hurt more. The brown haired vamp looked at the others. "She could help me with the guarden out back" he said, as they talked amongst themselves. The others nodded. "That's what I was thinking. But she's gonna have to get stronger before anything" he said, as they watched me. "One last question for you. What do you think when it comes to leaving this place?" he asked. I shifted to look up as I sighed. "What's the point. I'm almost 16. This prison keeps kids up till their 16 then they get killed anyway. I'm probably going to die here" I said, not even caring about getting out.
The four vampires looked at me in shock as the one with the green hair spoke. "Ruki, this place...is like..where we grew up" the vamp said as the rest nodded. "I know. I think this is worse" the blue haired vamp said, as all the attention fell back on me. "Is this your first time out of your cell?" he asked, as I nodded. "Yeah, I grew up here. Never got out of it until now" I said, as I sighed. The blond haired looked at my chains and sighed. "Those must hurt. I bet they've cut into you by now" he said, not as a question, but I answered him anyway. "It hurts when I move around. Their also heavy. I haven't got then changed since I grew last." I kept quiet as I started to feel weaker by the minute. I closed my eyes, as I reopened them, trying not to pass out on them. I looked at them, as they watched me and spoke amongst themselves in a low tone. I didn't know what they were saying, but I knew they were talking about me, because they kept glaring at me. Finally, they started to get up one by one, as they started to walk from the area. "Thanks for your time" The blue haired vamp said, as they walked out of the room, shutting the door behind them.
I continued to lie in the chair, as I waited for my next thing, which is probably back to the cell until I die in the back room. I waited in silence, lisenting to the ticking of the clock on the wall, as I tried to stay up. The silence started to scare me, seeing that I didn't know what was going to happen with me. Finally, the guard unlocked the door, and came back in with a few things of blood. "Alright, I guess your going to survive after all" he said, as I looked up in confusion. He was also holding the chain to guide me into the room. He walked over to my seat as he put the stuff on the table. I looked over to see what he had better. Lying on the table was a little chain, almost like a dog's leash. Next to the chain was a key, just one that went to the cuffs. Next to that sat a bag of blood, bigger than the ones he usually let me have. He sighed as he took my cuffs, and disconnected it from the chain, then hooked the leash one onto it. He took the bag of blood, as he ripped a hole in the top. "Alright, here we go" he said, as he put the hole into my mouth, and forced me to drink the whole bag. I didn't flinch, but it woke me up enough to realize what he was doing. My eyes widden in fear, as we got about halfway though the bag. I felt sick to my stomach about the amount I was consuming. I shifted my head, as he pulled the bag away. I coughed a bit, feeling sick from the blood. He huffed as he put the bag down, trying not to make it spill. "Come on, your almost done" he said, as he pulled a head rest, out of the top of the chair. He took the bag in it's positon as he pinned me down to the chair again. He put the bag back in my mouth, as he forced the rest down my throat. "It'll get you strong enough to get out of here, then you'll probably need more" he said, as he squeesed it. I looked at him in fear, not knowing what's going to happen. When the bag was empty, he pulled it away as I gasped for air, and leaned forward.
"Feeling well enough to move" he said, taking another bag of blood. I looked up at him, as I sighed, cleaning my lips from the blood. The guard smiled as he shown me his fangs, then went back to the table. "Alright, I think your ready" he said, as he pulled out a little bag, and put the other bags of blood in it. He notted the bag, as he took the chain, and went back to the cuffs. He unclipped the one that kept me sitting, and hooked the walking one in it's place. Once he seen that we were ready, he tugged me out of the chair and we exited the room. We wallked through the hall into the lobby, where the family of vampires that I saw earlier stood. The guard sighed as the family gave him their full attention. "Ok Mr. Mukami. Here's a bag that contains blood. Almost like a starter package" he said, as he handed them the bag. He pulled out a key from his coat pocket. "This is the key for her cuffs. It works with both of them" he said, as he handed the vampire with the blue hair the key. Finally he gave the leash to him. "She's all yours. Just be easy, she might still be a little weak" he said. The vampires all nodded as they looked at me and sighed. "I think she might be ok for the ride over" the one with the blond hair said. The guard nodded. "We just gave her a lot more blood, so she should stay awake for you" he said, as he turned to me. "You behave for them ok" he asked, as I nodded. I didn't say anything but I made sure he had my attenrion. The guard nodded as he looked back at the family. "Alright, got papers and blood for the road. I think you got everything" he said, as the family turned to him. "Thank you so much" the blue haired vamp said, as he turned towards me. "You ready to go?" he asked, as I looked at him in silence. I felt my eyes water with tears, for the fact that I was going to leave this place, and hopefully survive. I didn't know what to say as a bunch of things drifted through my mind. Finally, I quietly nodded as I stood there. The guard turned to them as he spoke. "Alright, have a good day guys" he said as the family thank him, and we walked out of the bulding.
We got out of the building and started walking. I stopped for a moment as I looked at the outside. All I could see is darkness, and shadows everywhere. The moon was shining brightly, showing us enough light to see where to go, but to me it was still dark. It was true that the world was controlled by the dark creatures. The moon shined down upon us as we walked more on the gravel pathway. My feet hurt from walking barefoot on the cement for all these years. That's one thing they took from me when I came here. My ripped pant legs brushed my feet as I walked, and the cuffs still dug into my wrists. I trailed behind the blue haired vamp that was holding my leash, and standing next to the blond haired vamp. I silently looked up at him, as he looked down and smiled. "What are you thinking right now Skylar?" he asked, as I stayed silent. I looked back up at the blue haired vamp as he turned around. "She's probably scared. That place was all she knew" he said as he cracked a little smile. The blue haired vamp stopped as he looked at me. "We should probably do it here. Your going to call us by our first names. My name is Ruki and I'm the oldest. The one next to you is Kou, and he's the second son." I looked over at Kou as he cracked a smile, and nodded. Ruki gestered to the two behind me. He gestered to the brown haired vamp. "That's Yuma, the third son, and next to him is Azusa, the forth." I nodded at them too, but I still didn't have any words to say. I was still weak because I didn't get enough to fully be healthy again. I felt like falling asleep at any minute, but I knew we had to go wherever they were taking me.
When I looked back, I looked up, seeing the tall prison that towered over us. I watched as the dark shadows of the guards passed through the slits in the windows, and some of the other humans looking out the window with worry. I looked at one prisoner that mouthed the words run at me. I sighed as I heard the chains rattling up against me again. I turned to look at Ruki as he cracked a little smile. "You ready to go, or do you need another bag?" he asked, sounding more like my dad than my owner. I sighed as I started to walk, with the four doing the rest. I could hear the door to the gates that we exited as they closed, knowing that they were done with selling slaves today. I must've been the last one.
It took us a while, but we eventully gone to the woods and walked even further. My chains got heavier by the minute and ket digging into me, even though they didn't pull on them at all. I started to limp at this moment, as I slowed down on my walking. I felt more tired than normal, and started to not keep myself up. I stopped as I stood there, swaying back and forth a little each time. I felt someone bump into me, as Yuma spoke. "Woah, easy. You going to be ok?" he asked as Ruki and Kou looked back. I stood there as I swayed back and forth, trying not to pass out again. I stood there, as my breath and their voices echoed in my head. "Maybe it will be easier to carry her home" Ruki said, as he looked at me. "Wana try to take more of the blood?" he asked, as I gentaly looked up at him. I looked up at my vision started to fade again, and the pounding began to grow louder. "Are you ok?" Kou asked, as I felt myself drop, and my head smacked against the dirt driveway, making me pass out from the scene, not knowing what was going to happen, or what they'd do.
