The Shining Object

All of us woke up in a slump. Nobody felt like doing absolutely anything at all.

"Come on Jay. You have to get up. I'm not gonna give up on this." I said, trying my best to stay strong for their sake. It was hard, of course.

Jayson finally sighed and climbed out of bed, obviously not getting enough sleep from last nights encounter.

"What's the plan?" Jayson asked as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.

"I'm not really sure as of now. The best thing we can do is talk to Crystalline or Maricana about where they could possibly be." I answered.

"Do you have an idea?"

I shook my head. "Not at all."

The air became heavy with tenseness, and in a moment I broke it.

"Come on, lets make sure Nathan is up."

———————

Nathan was definitely up. We found him outside punching a tree. "What the hell...?" I mumbled as Jayson nudged me.

"Just leave him alone for now. Let him take his anger out alone. If we bother him, we'll become the tree."

He was right to say the least.

I decided to get Felipe up, since Natsuki was already fixing some pancakes, bacon, and biscuits for all of us.

"Breakfast will be ready in five baby." Natsuki said sweetly.

"Huh? Oh thanks sweetheart. I was gonna make sure Felipe was still up." I said.

Natsuki nodded and continued fixing the food, and I could tell she was definitely worried about the others. Especially Sayori, knowing their strong friendship with each other.

Also with her being the only other Doki still alive...hopefully.

I knocked on Felipe's door and called out his name. "Felipe? You up buddy?"

No answer, as half expected. I slowly opened the door, and he didn't seem to be in his room.

Dawson eventually came wandering out from the couch where he fell asleep last night. "Is everything okay?"

"I can't find Felipe anywhere. Have you seen him?"

He frowned, as if he was trying to remember something important.

"I could've sworn I heard the door open and close sometime really early in the morning..."

I rubbed my face and cursed under my breath, which Dawson heard.

"I'm sure he's fine. Let's not tell the others right now. They're already stressed out enough."

Dawson agreed. "You're right. It's not the best idea."

Natsuki later announced to the house that breakfast was ready and ready to eat. We walked back to the living room and turned on the tv, only to be pummeled by news reports.

"Oh jeez, what is it now?" Jayson asked.

"Just some crap about suspicions rising about some guy going around..."

I trailed off, seeing where the last location was where they last saw him.

It was the same alley way that we met Sonath.

"So the police are aware of him. But what good is it going to do?" Dawson asked.

"As good as having the police on our side in this fight."

Nathan soon came back in and slammed the door behind him, probably not intentionally.

"What's going on now? Any news on Hannah and the others?"

I nodded towards the tv, and he quieted down to listen.

The female reporter was simply talking about buildings catching on fire for no particular reason, and fire fighters not being enough to stop them in time before they burned to the ground.

It only made me worry even more. And since the disease hit, there haven't been enough people overall.

Then they showed several locations where smoke was rising and making the sky turn black once again.

"We have to do something Noah." Natsuki said with fear in her voice.

"What can we do? We don't know where anybody is!"

She looked at me as if I was stupid. "Talk to Maricana!"

I looked back at the tv, and then at everyone's desperate faces.

I didn't have a choice did I?

"You're right. I'll be back."

Felipe's POV
—————————

I tried my best to stay calm, but it was definitely impossible when the unimaginable happened.

When I was asleep, my head began to hurt, so I went to the bathroom to wash my face.

It didn't do any good whatsoever.

I resulted to pain medication, but that didn't work either. I then tried to go for a walk, and something was leading me towards towns, so I followed it.

The strange feeling led me to the lake, and I parked Noah's truck on the bank and hopped out.

I noticed something shiny in the water, and curiously led me to go to it. So I kicked my shoes off and rolled my pajama pants to my knees and stepped in.

I couldn't even speak even if I tried, and the shining object kept me from talking.

The blue object was a small glass orb, and it's power spoke a ton to my heart.

Then the orb began to shine so bright that I was forced to shield my eyes away from it, and in an instant it stopped.

The orb was gone.

I looked everywhere until a small blue light caught my attention.

The orb was stuck to my left hand, and I couldn't get it off. Then I looked back to the water.

I help my hand out and twirled my wrist in a circle a little bit. The water followed my motions.

Then I took both hands and extended my arms above me to full length with my wrists bent, and a huge wave of water rose from the lake.

I was mesmerized by the sudden power I just had gained.

I was a waterbender.
