A Race For The Universe
After watching the horrific show in Waco, I knew that we had to get Nathan the metal orb, and fast. Or Sonath will grab it before we'd have a chance to blink.
"What do we do Noah?" Dawson asked, a little nervous himself.
I honestly didn't really have a direct answer to that, but I knew I had to stay strong. Besides, we have earth, water, and now air with us. We just have to get metal before it's too late.
Heh, how hard can that be?
"Noah?" Dawson asked again.
"Huh? Oh sorry, I kinda spaced out there.
Um, we focus on getting the metal orb as quickly as possible. Anyone happen to have an idea on where it could be?"
Nathan quietly spoke up shyly, which surprised me. "I uh, read something before that metalbending actually comes from the heart and mind. Whatever that's supposed to mean."
I thought about it for a minute, then looked at Nathan again. "Did you read that or did someone say that?"
He quickly looked away then back at me. "I read it."
"Liar. Who told you?" Hannah asked sternly.
Nathan was quiet for a while, then spoke up again. "Fine. Pops came to me a couple of nights ago, the night Jayson got the air orb. That's all he said though."
I nodded, and Jayson spoke up. "Well that makes us sure that you're destined to become a metalbender."
Dawson shifted his feet as he looked at the ground.
"What's wrong Dawson?" I asked.
His head shot up and he looked around like nothing was wrong at all. "Huh? Oh I'm fine man. Why do you ask?"
He acted like he regretted asking that question, but sometimes I can read people like a book.
"You're acting sad, and I would like to know why. You're my best friend."
Jacob would've gotten jealous if he heard me.
He sighed, and looked around at everyone else who was staring at him in question.
"I still don't understand why I'm even here. Dad told me that I was destined to help, but I haven't even done anything." He said.
"Just be patient. If your father spiritually told you that you have a big role to play, I'm sure you do." Jayson said.
It was silent for a while after that, so I turned to Nathan. "Do you need time to figure out where to start looking, or do you already have a plan?"
He shrugged. "I haven't been told anything yet, so I guess I need a little bit of time."
"Alright. No rush, but don't take too long." I said.
With that, we separated into our little groups like we always have done.

Once I got to thinking for a while, I was wondering why Sonath didn't just blow the city up when he had the perfect opportunity.
Did he want us to look for the metal orb? I had no idea. I would really like to figure that out though.
"Noah?"
I almost jumped and I found Natsuki standing in the doorway.
"What is it sweetheart?" I asked.
She but her lower lip and looked at me with a mix of fear and concern. "Are you scared of what's going to happen soon?"
I wasn't about to lie to her. "Of course I am. If Sonath is surely more powerful than Kronos was, then I do believe chances of winning are slim."
Natsuki nodded. "Do you think we'll make it out alive though?"
I shook my head. "I honestly doubt it, but I have hope."
I extended my arms out, offering a hug, and she quickly took it.
"Noah, can you promise me something?" She whispered, almost in tears.
I got a little nervous. "Of course. What is it?"
"Please don't let me lose you. I can't take any more pain from losing Yuri and Monika. I don't need to lose you like I did them..."
I really didn't want to promise her that, but I felt like I didn't have a choice. So I had to take it.
"I promise."
But as we were about to kiss, someone came barging in frantically. It was Hannah.
"Sorry to interrupt your moment, but something's up with Nathan."
We followed her to her room at a light jog, and we found Nathan laying on their bed with his eyes closed.
"I can wake him up. What's going on with him?" She asked.
I walked over to him and simply stared at him for a long second.
"I think he fell into the dream kingdom." I said.
"And what's that?" Hannah asked impatiently.
"It's a place where I found my role in life throughout this adventure. It's where I met Spencer, and it's where I even met the true Monika."
I didn't really expect Hannah to know what that still meant, but she acted like she understood.
"Is he going to be okay though?"
"He should be." I said.
"Should be..." she mumbled.
Me, Hannah, Felipe, and Natsuki simply stood there in silence over Nathan as he breathed slowly and steadily.
"Would it be best to give him his privacy?" Felipe asked.
"Yeah, we should." I said as I led the group out of the dark bedroom.

Everybody else was sitting on the couch staring at the news. It seemed like everyone that has seen and heard of the incident where Sonath got hooked up with a little bit of drugs when he got the lightning orb.
The thing was, nobody new it was Sonath to begin with.
It felt weird knowing the truth about anything that comes on the news, but not being able to tell anybody without creating a mass panic.
"If only they knew." Jayson said, shaking his head in sadness.
"It'll be okay, we can stop this." I said, not really motivated, but I always had to try.
If I had to be honest, I rally didn't think that it was possible to win this war.
But like I said, I always had to try for them.
I looked around and all of a sudden, I heard this loud crunch come from the bedroom where Nathan was resting.
"Welp." I mumbled as I walked to towards the bedroom.
As I expected, I found him with a crushed up piece of metal that must've been the doorknob in his hand.
"I swear, I didn't mean to do it." He said.
We started laughing as he rolled his eyes and showed us the glowing grey orb on his wrist.
"Well Melton, you my friend, are a metalbender." Jayson said.
