THE SKY RAINS THE OCEAN

Do you remember when we thought that it was the ocean raining from the sky and how we feared that the mysterious creatures of the sea would fall from the dark clouds looming over us. It things like this that I can only recall when I am left to my wondering thoughts; and it's been particularly easy to do that now that you are gone.

But I must ask even if you cannot hear my words; why did you leave us to watch cigarette smoke with bored eyes and look painfully at one another after seeing that your empty space has been filled with the memory of you?

A boy with an addiction to cigarettes ponders about his friend who is miles away and embraces his persistent guilt to distract the loneliness that is slowly killing him.
