An Eccentric Issue

The first morning with the small creatures being known to the world is a surprisingly quiet one. Well... quiet for everyone else.

In the house where Sabre and Time live, the home is filled with the sounds of excited squeaking. Time is happily cooking desserts and such for all of the little blobs, making sure none accidentally get into trouble (he had to catch one from falling into a batter bowl after the poor thing lost its footing while on a shelf). It's been relatively easy for him other than that, mostly making cookies while some other desserts line the counter as well.

A few of the creatures are playing in the living room rather than gathering in the kitchen. Early that morning, two of the Orange Steves in the village had dropped off a welcome gift to all of the creatures; a box of various plush animals. A blob with grey dragon's wings is hugging a wolf plush. One with white hair is cuddling a cream-colored teddy bear. One similar-looking to a bee with a white mask is excitedly playing with a plush axolotl. A black one with orange eyes sits on a sheep plush while doodling with an oversized pencil and eating a cookie. A white one with black hair is playing with a chicken plush. A mostly red one is hugging a bunny rag doll. Another white one, but with a yellow hoodie and yellow hair accents, hangs onto a bird plush that looks similar to a canary. One with purple and blue hair and white wings hugs a pig plush.

Time smiles when he sees all of the creatures playing with their new toys. He thinks it's adorable. He goes to take a small recipe book out of the pocket of his coat, but he's met with the sight of one of the blobs nestled into his coat pocket.

"What the- When did you get in there, little buddy?" Time chuckles. The creatures replies with a squeak.

Sabre then comes down the stairs, having been awoken by the noise and the smell of baked goods. He sees Time and most of the blobs gathered in the kitchen, and smiles. He's glad that his little people don't have to hide anymore. The blobs moving out of the way as he walks, Sabre goes over to Time as he's trying to get the creature out of his pocket.

"Oh, good morning Sabre!" Time greets him.

"Morning Time." Sabre says. "Uh, what's going on?"

"Oh, one of the little guys climbed into my coat pocket somehow and doesn't want to get out. I need to get my recipe book though..." Time says.

Sabre giggles as he watches Time struggle to get the blob out of his pocket. Soon enough, a bunch of the creatures start climbing all over Sabre again, just like always. One blob, which is mostly yellow with bits of black and wearing a blue mini-hoodie, climbs into Sabre hood. Sabre extends his hand to the creature and pets it's head.

"Hey Artemis, what's up?" Sabre asks it.

To anyone else, it would've responded with a small, chill-sounding series of 'Meep' sounds. However, Sabre has a bit of a gift with these little ones.

"Not much, what's up with you?" A small, high-pitched voice says, coming from the blob.

He doesn't know why, but he still has the ability to understand all of the little creatures. He's also confused as to why a lot of them started calling him 'Sky Dad' a while after achieving his current form. Sabre isn't really interested in dwelling in the past right now though, he's happy just listening to the tiny conversations happening around him.

"Can I play with the sheep plushie too?" "Sure!"

"Hehe, I'm never getting out of this pocket."

"Lavender, you can't eat fertilizer!" "Why not tho?" "...Are you kidding me right now?"

"Can I help Time bake?" "You can try, but I don't know if he'll get that's what you're trying to do."

"Hey, does anyone want my other chocolate chip coo-" "WHO SAID CHOCOLATE?!"

(This is you guys' cue to start making RP convos lol)

As Sabre looks around, however, he realizes something's off.

"Ha, got you!" Time says as he carefully takes the creature out of his pocket, which has a defeated look. It squeaks a little, then clings onto his hand. "...O-kay then?"

Time then notices Sabre's worried look.

"What's wrong, Sabre?" Time asks.

"Something's up..." Sabre says, and then he starts counting all of the creatures.

"Wh- There's no way you're counting all of them, dude." Time says, as he tries to get the blob clinging to his hand off gently.

Sabre stops counting, and now looks a little more worried.

"There's two missing- Where's Squirrel and Keira?" Sabre says, getting up. The blobs that were climbing on him get off, concerned.

Suddenly, a figure runs past the window, carrying the two missing creatures in small jars while they fearfully squeak. Sabre and Time recognize this figure.

"PROFESSOR!" Sabre yells as he jumps out of the open window in the dining room.

"SABRE, HOLY- WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Time exclaims, but Sabre's already outside and chasing the Professor furiously.

"SABRE! CHILL OUT! IT'S ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF SCIENCE!" The Professor says, panicked, as Sabre starts to catch up.

"YOU GET BACK HERE, YOU WACK JOB, CHERRY-LOOKING SON OF A-" Sabre says, but doesn't have time to finish his sentence as he's caught in a whirl of lighting.

—————————————————————————————————————

Sabre stumbles for a second before catching himself, and sees he's inside Professor Red's lab. The Professor is in front of him, and doesn't seem to realize he's there. The Assistant is standing near a hallway.

"Okay, I got away." The Professor says, looking at the two blobs stuck in jars.

One of them is furiously squeak-screeching and attempting to break the glass, while the other looks a bit scared, but mostly disoriented from being jostled around during the small chase.

"Professor." The Assistant says, looking behind the Professor at a very angry Sabre.

"What?"

"Professor, he's right behind you."

The Professor slowly turns around, only then seeing Sabre behind him. Sabre has a look of pure, parental-looking rage (and he wonders why the blobs call him 'father' sometimes). A moment passes.

The Professor suddenly bolts into the hallway the Assistant is standing near.

"CRAP, HE WAS IN RANGE!" Professor Red exclaims.

"GET BACK HERE!" Sabre yells, giving chase.

Sabre keeps running after the Professor through twists and turns in the halls, as Professor Red keeps making turns to try and lose him. Sabre's doesn't give up, however. Through various more halls, Sabre goes after the Professor like a missile on a mission, his focus entirely on getting those two creatures away from the Professor and out of those jars.

Eventually, they reach the main part of the lab, just below the observatory. The glass dome for the ceiling above them filters sunlight onto the floor in which they're running on. The Professor keeps making circles around tables and other things, calling back to familiar memories. However, Sabre doesn't stop and recognize the deja vu of the situation, as he only focuses on the two jars in the Professor's hands.

"WOULD YOU STOP CHASING ME?!" Professor Red yells at Sabre, starting to run out of breath.

"GIVE THEM BACK!" Sabre yells back.

"THIS IS ONLY FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES, SABRE! JUST A FEW EXPERIMENTS, THINK OF WHAT COULD BE DISCOVERED!"

"HEY, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE COULD BE 'DISCOVERED' ONCE I CATCH UP TO YOU?! HOW FAR MY FOOT CAN GO UP YOUR SORRY A-"

"O-KAY, WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!" M exclaims as he hurriedly walks into the room, followed by the Assistant, as he heard the commotion from his house... which is reasonably far from the lab.

"MAKE HIM STOP CHASING ME!" The Professor says, then yells as Sabre almost catches him.

"I SWEAR, IF YOU DON'T GIVE THEM BACK RIGHT NOW I WON'T HESITATE, BI-" Sabre says, but is cut off when Professor Red throws a book at him. Despite it being a direct hit to his face, making his nose start to bleed, Sabre keeps chasing after the Professor. His look of determined rage, added with the unflinching response to his injury, unsettles M slightly.

"Sabre, calm down! What's going on?!" M calls out, but Sabre seems as if he didn't hear him.

"UH YEAH, HE'S NOT LISTENING, I ALREADY TRIED THAT!" The Professor says.

"I did as well." The Assistant says to M.

"How did you even manage to tick him off so badly-" M says, but he then notices the two jars in the Professor's hands, with a blob in each one. As the pair continues circling around a table, M is almost at a loss for words.

"Are. You. Kidding me Professor?!" M exclaims. "Seriously?! You took two of the creatures?! We literally just told Sabre there was nothing to worry about with them and they'd be safe- UGGGGHH."

M facepalms, not able to believe the Professor's actions in his cluelessness. Either that, or pure stupidity.

"You really are more trouble than he let on, huh..." M mumbles.

"CAN YOU HELP ME OUT H- OH FRICK!" Professor Red yells, but is interrupted when Sabre jumps over the table and is suddenly in front of him.

Professor Red quickly turns around and changes direction, Sabre following close behind. M follows after the two for a few steps.

"JUST GIVE THEM BACK, PROFESSOR!" M yells.

"NO! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT EXACTLY THESE THINGS ARE FOR SCIENCE!" The Professor answers.

M turns to the Assistant.

"Can you try and get Sabre to stop?" M asks.

"I'd prefer not to risk being damaged." The Assistant says.

"Oh, screw it." M says, turning around and heading back towards the entry hallway. "I'm getting Light over here before this gets out of hand."

—————————————————————————————————————

Light could hear the chaos before he even stepped foot in the lab.

"Has he been chasing him the entire time...?" Light wonders aloud as he and M enter the lab.

"Likely. Sabre was pretty, uh... furious about it." M replies. "He got hit with a book, and he still didn't back down."

As they reach the main room, Light and M see Sabre chasing the Professor around in circles in the upstairs observatory. Light is surprised at the silent rage of his friend, occasionally being broken when Sabre yells back at the Professor once he says something in an attempt to get him to stop.

"...I'm going to be honest." Light says, watching the chaotic two above him. "I've never seen Sabre this angry about something."

"Really?" M asks.

"Yeah... Have you tried getting him to calm down a little?" Light says.

"He's not listening to me, just keeps chasing the Professor." M replies. "Actually, how long has he been chasing the Professor? I left for a bit to go and get you before this got too crazy..."

"It's been 43 minutes since Sabre started chasing the Professor." The Assistant says, still standing near the hall. "He did not stop once."

"Oh, boy..." Light mumbles.

The Professor notices the two there.

"ARE YOU JUST GONNA STAND THERE AND WATCH?!" The Professor yells.

"JUST GIVE BACK THE CREATURES, PROFESSOR, FOR GOODNESS SAKE!" M yells back.

"NO! JUST GET HIM TO STOP, HE ALREADY BROKE DOWN A DOOR WHILE CHASING ME!"

"He what." Light says.

Earlier, while M was still out, the Professor had tried locking himself in one of the experimentation rooms hoping that if he was out of sight Sabre would give up. Sabre, of course, didn't. He saw which room the Professor went in and nearly broke the door off its hinges ramming into it. The Professor slipped out while Sabre was regaining his balance, and so the chase continued.

Light quickly goes up the stairs and into the observatory, where he sees Sabre still chasing Professor Red. He quickly tries to stop Sabre, but is just pushed away as Sabre runs past him.

"...Wow. He is dead set on this." Light says to himself.

Light then has the idea of using his spear to trip Sabre, so he has time to try and talk some sense into him. While the Professor runs past him again, Light quickly holds out the handle of his spear and Sabre trips on it, crashing to the floor. The Professor stands on a table on the opposite side of the observatory.

"Sabre, dude, calm down." Light says to Sabre as he gets up. "Look, I know you're-"

"CAN'T GET ME NOW, STUPID!" Professor Red yells across the room.

"Professor, you're not helping!" Light yells at him.

Suddenly, Sabre jumps onto the railing of the observatory, standing above the first floor below him.

"SABRE-" M calls out.

Too late.

Sabre jumps across the gap.

"SABRE-"

"HOLY-"

"OH FRICK!"

Miraculously, Sabre sticks the landing on the other side. Just as Sabre steps down from the railing, the Professor decides that maybe it's a good idea to just give up.

"OKAY, OKAY, JEEZ! I'll give them back!" Professor Red says quickly. He hands Sabre the jars. "Good lord."

It's like a switch flipped, as Sabre's expression softens as he hurriedly opens the jars and lets the creatures out. There's no longer a fiery rage in his demeanor. The creatures happily, although shakily from being bounced around so much, climb into his arms once out of the jars and squeak excitedly.

"Hey there, you two alright?" Sabre says to the blobs, who nod. Sabre then remembers something and looks behind him. "Oh crap- Artemis, you good?!"

The small yellow-and-black blob from earlier peeks out of Sabre's hood.

"That was awesome." It squeaks, but only Sabre understands.

Light walks over as Professor Red grumpily slinks away. Sabre looks up.

"I'm just... not gonna question what just happened." Light says. "Don't do that again, okay?"

"Hey, can you really blame me?" Sabre says.

"Eh, that's fair I guess." Light replies. "I'm just gonna get you outta here and then explain things to M."

"Alright, seeya later I guess." Sabre says.

"Later." Light says.

Lighting surrounds Sabre as everything shifts once again.
