A Little Too Curious

Sabre sits outside of the house, holding the two blobs that got kidnapped yesterday to comfort them, as they're still a little shaken up.

The rest are excitedly meeting the people of the village, who are just as excited to meet the blobs. The two village Leaders being a bit occupied, one blob sleeping on Violet's head and another clinging to Yellow's leg, they're not really paying attention to the shenanigans their people are getting into with the little ones.

One is handing out cookies it has to everyone they see, another with pink-and-green hair is trying to eat a Blue Steve's finger, which isn't painful at all and the Blue Steve just finds it hilarious, a brown-haired blob with bunny ears and a blue-and-green hoodie runs up to the two Leaders and hugs them, a black-and-white one is handing out flowers to Violet Steves that are surrounding them, a black-haired one has just pounced on a Red Steve (who had recently joined the village), clinging to his leg, and Sabre chuckles as he sees a blob attempting to race a Yellow Steve.

Time then exits the house, sitting down on the bench on the porch next to Sabre. One of the blobs that was on Sabre's shoulder, looking a bit grumpy still from the previous day, moves over to Time's shoulder and smushes itself into his coat's collar.

"Guessing these two are still a bit off, huh?" Time asks as he pets the blob that's nuzzling him.

"Yeah, they didn't handle that incident well, but they're recovering." Sabre replies as he lets the blob still on him, who's curled up into a little ball.

Time takes a piece of bread he was holding and tears off a piece, handing it to the small blob on his shoulder, who happily takes it.

"Well, at least they're doing better. And it seems the rest are having fun." Time smiles.

They both look on as more of the blobs play with the Steves of the village. A few are playing with Orange or Yellow Steves, two of them even watching as a pair of Orange Steves paint, one giving the one it's watching a small ribbon to add to his craft that he's working on. An Orange Steve laughs as the moth-blob repeatedly headbutts his leg. A white-and-blue blob is hanging out with a few Violet Steves, another blob snuggling in a Violet Steve's hair. Another blob is also giving flowers, white tulips to be exact. A blob with cat-like features is helping a Green Steve plant a flower in a pot outside his house. The one with orange eyes and the one Sabre recognizes as Artemis are wiggle-dancing in a part of the street, a few Steves happily watching, some 'Aww'-ing at the tiny show. Another walks up to the Violet Steve group and starts handing them assorted flowers.

Sabre and Time smile, being surrounded by a few of the blobs. Some start climbing on the two. Sabre has to stop one from hopping away with his satchel, for a moment, but then it's back to playing with the village people. After a while, Squirrel has hopped out of Sabre's arms and plays with a group of Green Steves, nuzzling into their legs as a greeting and then hopping around them in a mini game of tag.

Eventually, things calm down, and the Steves have to get back to their daily jobs. The blobs happily play with each other, in the meantime.

Sabre is too busy talking with Time and other people to notice a large group of the blobs go out of his sight, heading near the forest. They play with each other, just like the rest, when they hear a rustling sound come from the bushes nearby.

The blobs turn around to see two figures hiding in the bushes, although they're too far away and covered in foliage to see who or what they are. The figures, realizing they've been spotted, quickly run into the forest. The blobs talk amongst themselves, confused.

"Who the heck was that?" One blob asks, who had previously been on Time's shoulder earlier.

"I dunno Keira, do you think they were just passing through and saw us?" Another says, trying to see into the forest.

"They looked sus, we should follow them." One that looks like a cream-colored cat blob says, being held up by a black bloc with a purple face. They both have bows matching each other.

"Yeah, they might be bad guys! Let's follow them!" A cat-featured blob exclaims, holding up a stick with its tail.

"Adventure!" The bunny-eared blob with a green-and-blue hoodie from before says.

"Wait, guys, I'm not so sure about this." A cat-featured blob with tri-color wings says. "What if it's dangerous?"

"Uh, yeah, I agree with Crystal." Another blob with white wings says. "We should at least tell someone first. Like Sabre."

"Yeah, Sabre needs to know." Another blob says. "What if it's Vo-"

"ADVENTURE!" A bunch of the blobs say, interrupting the two.

The group of blobs then rush into the forest, some holding sticks, while the ones that were trying to think about it hesitantly chase after the group.

—————————————————————————————————————

"We've been walking through the woods foreveeer!" One of the blobs says, as they move a small branch out of their way.

"You guys are the ones that wanted to investigate." Another blob says.

"Aw, c'mon, don't give up now!" A third adds. "We must be close!"

As if on cue, voices are heard up ahead. The group of blobs slowly and quietly make their way to a spot behind some bushes, and peek through.

There's an assortment of Chromatics gathered around an extinguished campfire, tents behind them, the clearing looking like a camp of some kind. Many crates are stacked near the tents, some being labeled, some not. The strange thing is that the crates all have different seals of different kingdoms, as if taken while on the way to where they're addressed. The blobs recognize these seals as a kind of labeling where shipments of supplies would be delivered to. The Steves in front of them are all wearing what seems to look like adventuring gear and tattered, dark brown cloaks with hoods, which are currently pulled over their faces.

The blobs all scoot down as the group of Chromatics begin to talk to each other, unaware of the small creatures' presence.

"Did you get that shipment that was on the way to the Orange Kingdom?" A Yellow Steve sitting on a log, whittling a piece of wood with his knife, asks.

"Yeah, I did." A Green Steve answers, placing a crate with a white seal on the pile. "It was pretty easy, the suppliers in that cart didn't put up much of a fight. Got stuff meant for the Guard, too."

"They're bandits." One of the blobs gasps quietly from inside the bushes.

"Shh, they might hear you!" Another blob whispers.

"What'd you do with the suppliers?" A Violet Steve leaning against a tree says.

"Eh, I took care of 'em." The Green Steve says, shrugging. "They were probably gonna snitch anyway, so had to do something."

"You killed them?" An Orange Steve, stepping out of a tent, asks.

"Nah, that would've been messy and I didn't have the time." The Green Steve continues. "Just shoved 'em in a cave and made a wall collapse. By the time they'll get out, we'll be already outta the area."

"Good." The Yellow Steve says, stabbing his knife into the wood he was just whittling. "Anyway, we need to get moving, so who's grabbing the cart?"

"I will." The Violet Steve says.

The group starts to walk somewhere, but the Orange Steve kicks a rock as they go. The rock flies through the bushes and hits one of the blobs, making them squeak. The bandits stop, looking at the bush.

"You guys hear that?" The Green Steve asks.

"No duh, it was loud." The Yellow Steve says as he walks towards the bush.

All of the blobs freeze as the Yellow Bandit shoves aside the bushes' leaves, revealing where they are. The other bandits come over and look at the small creatures as most huddle together in fear, while the ones that are carrying sticks defensively stand in front of their group.

"Check it, it's those things that were discovered a few days ago." The Yellow Bandit says, grinning.

"Yo, that's cool." The Violet Bandit says. "There's like, 50 of them over here."

"Hey, how much do you think some of the people back at base would buy one of these little guys for?" The Orange Bandit asks. "Since they're a new species, and all. Maybe they'd be useful for something."

"Or some big shot would want a new pet." The Green Bandit chuckles, reaching for one of the blobs.

Two of the blobs holding sticks stab at the Green Bandit's hand, and one of the blobs quickly bites him, making him flinch and pull his arm back. He clutches his hand as small dots of blood start to seep through his glove from the sticks.

"Ugh- Once they break 'em down first, obviously." The Green Bandit scoffs. "Make 'em obedient and all that."

"Could still be a good opportunity. Could get paid a fortune for 'em." The Violet Bandit says.

"So... take some of 'em?" The Orange Bandits suggests.

"Sure, let's take some. We've got some animal cages in the cart." The Yellow Bandit says, reaching out for a blob near him.

Pandemonium quickly ensues as the bandits start to grab some of the blobs, the creatures running around trying not to get scooped up. However, once they realize some of their friends weren't so lucky, the blobs move on to attacking the bandits. Despite not doing any real damage, they're determined to stop their friends from being taken.

Determination isn't enough, though.

"Someone come and help me out here?!" The Yellow Bandit says as he kicks away some of the blobs surrounding him, a blob in each hand as they try to bite him to make him let go.

"Bit occupied myself!" The Violet Bandit says as blobs start to swarm his legs, attempting to make him fall. He also has a blob in one of his hands.

As the Green Bandit kicks a black-and-white blob into a tree, making a 'crack' noise come from the creature, he looks surprised.

"Dang, these things have bones?" He wonders aloud. "That sounds like it hurt."

"Good. Teach 'em a lesson." The Orange bandit says as he swipes his foot under a few blobs, making them fall and become scattered in different directions.

A blob with moth's wings that have a clock design on each one looks up as the Orange Bandit stands over it, a cold stare on his face as he holds a struggling yellow-hoodie-wearing blob with white hair.

The Orange Bandit raises his foot over the creature on the ground in front of him.

"He's got hundreds, not like he's gonna miss a few." The bandit says.

A scream echoes through the forest.
