Chapter Two - An Unlikely Alliance

After crossing paths with one another, Scourge and Summer began navigating through the forest in search for the Temple they both apparently sought. At first, things were silent between the two. It was clear to Summer that Scourge was not one for conversation. It didn't take long for Summer to notice something familiar about Scourge. Though his alien appearance was unlike anything she had ever seen before on Remnant, there was something about the Sith Lord that seemed familiar to her. When night fell, Scourge and Summer set up a camp to rest for the night. As Summer got a fire started, Summer turned to face the Sith Lord.

Summer: What do you seek from this Temple?

Scourge: Answers.

Summer: Answers to what?

Scourge: Answers to questions I do not yet know. What of you?

Summer: I was sent here on an assignment. I guess you could say I'm here for the same reasons you are.

Scourge took note of Summer's words. His instincts made him question Summer's true intentions. However, Scourge sensed no deception within the young Huntress. Summer's eyes soon fell on Scourge's Lightsaber. Remembering the crimson blade of his Lightsaber, Summer was reminded of the Crimson Archangel Fairy Tale.

Summer: That's an interesting weapon you have.

Scourge: What of it?

Summer: This might seem like an odd question, but what do you know of the Crimson Archangel?

Scourge fell silent upon hearing Summer's questions. He was fully aware of the Crimson Archangel Fairy Tale. He knew that his encounter with the tyrant Minos spawned a Fairy Tale.

Scourge: It is simply a story.

Summer took note of Scourge's response. Her intuition told her that there was more to the connection between Scourge and the Crimson Archangel that he was letting on. But for now, she decided not to press the topic.

Summer: Are you a Huntsman?

Scourge: Is there a point to these questions?

Summer: If we're going to work together, then we should get to know each other.

Scourge: Do not let this situation fool you, Huntress. We are not friends.

Summer: You yourself said that fate brought us together.

Scourge was amused by Summer's words. While her questions annoyed him, Scourge found Summer's wit to be mildly amusing. Scourge stood up and approached Summer. Summer showed no fear as the Sith Lord towered over her.

Scourge: You are quite trusting to a stranger, Huntress.

Summer: A Huntress's duty is to help others.

Scourge: You do not know me or my intentions. For all you know, I could be an enemy. A snake in the grass, waiting to kill you when the opportunity presents itself.

Summer: I don't think you will.

Scourge then ignites his Lightsaber and points it at Summer in a threatening manner. Summer didn't flinch at the Sith Lord's clear threat. She simply stood silent and maintained eye contact with the Sith Lord. Scourge became curious at this.

Scourge: You show no fear. Your bravery is admirable, but it is limited by your trusting nature. As I said, you do not know me or my intentions. You say that I wouldn't kill you. So I will ask you this and I suggest you think carefully on your answer.

As Scourge said this, Summer remained resolute. She had no idea whether Scourge was serious about killing her or not. The way he conducted himself and the way he was currently threatening her showed that he was a dangerous individual. For all she knew, Scourge was going to kill her regardless of her answer. Despite the the clear threat to her life, Summer's instincts told her that Scourge was someone that can be trusted. After a tense moment, Summer looked Scourge straight in the eye and gave him her answer.

Summer: If you really wanted to kill me, you would've done so already. As you said, fate brought us together for a reason. I doubt it brought us together so you could kill me.

Upon hearing Summer's answer, Scourge took a moment to ponder on her answer. On the outside, Scourge showed no visible reaction. On the inside however, Scourge was impressed. While he found her trusting nature to be naive and foolish, Scourge found her wit to be intriguing. It reminded Scourge of the Hero of Tython. After a moment of tense silence, Scourge deactivated his Lightsaber.

Scourge: You answer....wisely, Huntress. Perhaps you are not as foolish as I thought. But that remains to be seen. Whatever lies within this Temple, perhaps it will grant us both the answers we seek.

Summer: We got a long day ahead of us. We should rest. I'll take first watch.

Scourge: No. I will do that. Unless you no longer trust me not to kill you.

Summer didn't even bother trying to convince Scourge to let her take first watch. With that, Summer turned in for the night. She didn't know what to think of Scourge. It was clear to her that there was more to Scourge than meets the eyes. As for Scourge, he became curious about Summer Rose. While he didn't consider her a worthy ally, Summer at least earned some respect from the Sith Lord due to her unflinching conviction. But for now, Scourge was content to having Summer join him in his search for the Temple and in turn, help Summer find the answers she seeks. In that moment, the unlikely alliance between Lord Scourge and Summer Rose had formed. What they didn't know was that this partnership would forever alter the destinies of both Scourge and Summer Rose.
