Chapter 2: Home

As Ben walked into the Millenium Falcon he felt something leave him. It felt as if all his pain, suffering, and hate lightened a little bit. He felt free, calm, and happy. 'Happy,' he thought as he sat down next to Leia. Chewie came by and gave him a big hug, letting out a cheerful growl. "I told you he missed you," said Leia chuckling. She turned the ship on and left the ground. Ben listened to the familiar sounds of the ship starting to go at light speed. He could almost see him as a boy with his father. 'Father,' he thought, 'I have a father'.
Then the memory resumed, his dad being cocky, saying "You want to see her go at light speed!" and Ben replying 'Oh yes Daddy!' 'Well, hold on then,' Solo laughed.
Then the Falcon jolted to a stop, shaking him out of his memories.
He saw the two he had fretted would be waiting outside for him. Rey, the Jedi who gave him a scar that he would forever wear on his face came running towards him. He didn't know what to do, whether to avoid her or just stay still. But before he knew it, he was being yelled at.
"How could you just hurt your mother like that, how could you hurt us like that!"
Knowing that Rey was talking about Han Solo he froze.
"There is more to it than that, you know," he said.
Rey stopped.
"Very well. I guess you will tell us on your own time, you are our friend now. There's no denying it," she stated coldly.
"Thank you," Ben replied.
He didn't know what to say. Though Rey was yelling at him, he couldn't deny how beautiful she looked. Ben never really noticed it. Then up came Poe, who had a shocked smile.
"Well, I hope you can deal with her," said Poe, "she wouldn't shut up about how she was going to kill you if Leia was successful."
Ben chuckled.
"Where's Finn?" he asked.
"Still in a coma," Poe said bitterly.
"Oh, I'm sorry," said Ben.
Poe brightened. "But the doctors say he's recovering fine. How about we show you where you will be staying?"
Poe led Ben to his room. It had new clothes that were grey and had the Rebellion symbol on them. Ben changed and looked into the mirror and saw himself in grey. He collapsed on his bed. Tears streaked down his face, and he knew where he belonged. He was home.
As Leia walked into the room, she saw Ben with his face in his hands quietly weeping. She knocked on the door and Ben jumped. Leia sat next to him.
"How could I be so blind?" he said.
"It's not your fault, Ben, Snoke provoked you," she said with compassion.
"But I still feel the darkness," he choked, "and I feel the warmth of the light."
Leia paused. "If that is so, you must bring balance to the light and the dark."
Ben lit up slightly.
"I do?"
"Yes," Leia stated, "you are being called to neither. You belong with both, in the grey."
Ben's eyes shifted, then he looked up and gave a slight nod.
"Now come and eat, you must be hungry."
Chewie stuck his head in the door and gave an agreeing roar.
"Not you, you big hairball!" continued Leia.
They went to the banquet hall of the base, and Ben ate with his family for the first time in years. He felt a presence with his force, looked across the room, and saw him. Luke Skywalker was walking towards them.
"Well," Luke said, "seems that Leia is more capable of things than I thought."
Ben let out a nervous laugh
"But I sense neither dark or light from you," Luke stated.
"I am neither light nor dark. I am in the grey," Ben said, remembering Leia's words.
Luke gave a satisfied nod. Ben felt happy things fill his mind as he thought, 'I'm home'.
