Chapter 3: Truth or Dare Part 2
Daphne's POV:
I skipped up to Sabrina's room. We were playing another round of Truth or Dare! Yay! Well, obviously, Sabrina wasn't excited, but then again, she wasn't that excited for most things.
Right now she was following me and Puck up the stairs. She looked very annoyed, let me tell you that.
I looked at Puck, who was racing ahead. He seemed to be super okay with playing the game. At least that was good.
Sabrina had complained a lot, and when I finally managed to force her to play, she had started giving me the silent treatment.
Oh, well. She'll get used to playing! And...she'll just have to deal with my Truths and Dares!
Sabrina's POV:
I could tell Daphne was thinking about me. Probably planning more stupid Dares. But...I was forced to play.
Otherwise... (Shudder)
I looked back and saw Charming following us. He would be playing this time. Thankfully, Mom and Dad were busy. Very thankfully.
Dad was mad enough when I had to kiss Puck to wake him up. If he comes for one of the later rounds of Truth or Dare...I really don't want to see his reaction!
We entered my room, and Puck instantly flew up to the ceiling, sitting there upside down. For some reason, there was no blood rushing to his face, his clothes were normal, and his hair wasn't hanging down. Fairies.
Charming sat on my bed, Red stood by the door, and Daphne bounced up and down excitedly.
I growled in frustration.
"Oh come on! Let's get started!" Puck exclaimed, impatient already.
"Okay, last time was really short because Granny needed us to help solve the case about that magic ring, but this time it won't be so short," Daphne declared.
I groaned unhappily. Very. Unhappily.
My little sister flashed me an evil grin. "We'll get to the more fun Truths and Dares in a few minutes. Anyway, Sabrina, you ask someone."
I turned to Puck, not wanting to pick Billy. "Truth or Dare?"
He grinned. "Dare, obviously."
I smiled. I had a good idea. I whispered it to him, and, when Daphne wasn't watching, told everyone else.
"Okay. Puck did his dare," I told Daphne.
She turned. "Wait, what? Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Can he do it again?"
I shook my head. "You should've been paying attention."
She growled. "Whatever. Okay, Puck, who do you pick?"
Suddenly Puck burst into song:
"Narwhals, narwhals,
Swimming in the ocean,
Causing a commotion,
'Cause they are so awesome
Narwhals, narwhals,
Pretty big and pretty wide,
They beat a polar bear in a fight
Like an underwater unicorn,
They've got a kick-ass facial horn,
They're the Jedi of the sea,
They stop Cthulu eating ye
Narwhals, they are narwhals,
Just don't let them touch your balls,
Narwhals, they are narwhals,
Inventor of the Shish Kabob!"
Daphne looked at me questioningly.
"What?" I asked.
"He just sang the narwhal song!" she exclaimed. "Didn't you hear?"
Charming and Red looked at her strangely. "Uh...no he didn't," they said.
Daphne rolled her eyes. "Whatever. I think I'm hearing things. So—"
But again, she was cut off by Puck singing.
She looked at everyone. "You guys didn't hear that?"
We all shook our heads.
I frowned. "Daphne are you okay? I hope you're not getting a fever!"
"I'm not!" she exclaimed. "I swear Puck just sang the narwhal song!"
I frowned even more. "Daphne, I'm gonna call Granny Relda."
She groaned. "I'm not sick! I'm fine!"
I raised an eyebrow, but it was super hard not to burst out laughing at Daphne's oh-so-confused expression.
She scowled. "Fine. Let's just keep playing." She turned to Puck yet again.
He looked at her innocently. "What?"
Daphne scowled even more. "No singing."
"But I wasn't singing!"
She groaned. "Forget it."
Red asked, "Can I do the truth or dare?"
"Wait, no," Puck answered. "I wanna dare Billy."
Prince Charming frowned.
Daphne jumped up. "Oh! Oh, yeah! We forgot to tell Billy what happened two days ago! So,—"
But Puck started singing the narwhal song again. Daphne waited patiently and then continued. I guess she was just too excited to tell Charming to care.
"So, Billy, it was soooo funny! Two days ago, last time we played Truth or Dare, we only got to do two Truths. Or was it three? Yeah, it was three. Anyway, on the last one,"—I flopped onto the bed and covered my face with my hands—"Red asked Sabrina if she loves Puck." At this Charming started laughing. "And–and when Sabrina said that she didn't love Puck, Red asked me why Sabrina wasn't answering truthfully. And then Uncle Jake said that Sabrina did actually love Puck, because of the true love's kiss thing when Puck ate the poison apple, and Puck was just standing there the whole time and then he started clapping and he said that this was hilarious, but then Goldi came in and said that Granny wanted us so then we had to go," Daphne explained quickly. Charming started laughing harder.
I scowled. Seriously. It wasn't that funny!
Puck looked at my angry face and started laughing too.
I frowned at everyone.
After Daphne had started breathing normally again, she said, "Okay. Puck, who do you pick?"
But...Puck sang the narwhal song again.
Daphne screamed angrily. "How can you guys not hear that?!?!"
We all frowned and I put a concerned expression on my face. "Daphne seriously, I think we should take you to a doctor."
My little sister growled. "Puck! Who do you pick??"
Puck scratched the back of his neck. "Well, I think I'll pick—
Narwhals, narwhals,
Swimming in the ocean,
Causing a commotion,
'Cause they are so awesome
Narwhals, narwhals,
Pretty big and pretty wide,
They beat a polar bear in a fight
Like an underwater unicorn,
They've got a kick-ass facial horn,
They're the Jedi of the sea,
They stop Cthulu eating ye
Narwhals, they are narwhals,
Just don't let them touch your balls,
Narwhals, they are narwhals,
Inventors if the Shish Kebab!"
Daphne let out a very girly shriek and ran out of the room.
***
When she came back 15 minutes later, Daphne said, "Okay. I'm calm. Everything's fine." She let out a deep breath. "Puck, who do you pick?"
Daphne looked like she was ready to punch him if he sang again, but Puck's dare was over.
"Uh, I'll pick Mr. Charming over there," he replied, grinning.
Charming groaned unhappily.
"Hey," Puck complained. "You wanted to play Truth or Dare with us!"
"Only to see you and Sabrina get embarrassed!" the prince answered.
I felt my face get red. "That's not fair! There's other funny stuff in this world! Not that I'm saying that me and Puck getting embarrassed is funny, and we shouldn't even be embarrassed, 'cause I don't like Puck!" I turned to the fairy. "Right, Puck?"
"Uh, yeah..." he muttered.
I frowned. Does that mean...? I cleared my throat when I saw that Daphne had seen the look on Puck's face. "Anyway, let's get back to playing the game!"
Daphne smirked.
I glared (it felt like that was the millionth glare I had given her today).
Puck sat on the windowsill, trying not to look embarrassed.
"Okay!" he exclaimed. "Charming, I dare you to go kiss Snow White. Now."
Charming turned pale. "Wh–what?" he stuttered.
Daphne's smile was wide. Freakishly wide. "Yeah, Billy! And, it's not such a big deal! You've kissed Snow before!"
"Still!"
I had to admit, this was gonna be funny.
"Or we won't do any Puckabrina dares or truths!" Daphne said.
Instantly my smile vanished. "Puckabrina?" I asked.
Daphne smiled sheepishly. "Yours and Puck's ship name," she replied.
I was fuming. "I told you we don't like each other!" I yelled, and once again asked Puck, "Right, Puck?"
All the fairy did this time was look away.
Daphne shot me a pointed look.
After an awkward few minutes of silence, I cleared my throat. "Um...isn't Billy gonna do the dare?"
Charming glared. I had a feeling we'd all be glaring a lot while playing this game.
Red's POV:
I looked out the window as we drove over to the William Charming Elementary.
Snow White had gotten her job at the school back, as had all the other teachers. Mr. Charming was probably gonna be made the mayor, but for now, the little town of Ferryport Landing was mayor-less.
Most of the Everafters had left, but there was still quite a few that were staying in Ferryport Landing permanently. Including me. Unless Daphne's family left, too. Then I would also leave. I hadn't been enrolled in school yet, so Mrs. Grimm had said I could just skip for now. Sabrina and Daphne didn't have to go today either, but I didn't know why. Something about interfering with the plot...?
Ms. White was in the middle of teaching her class when we interrupted. She looked over with a bright smile. When she saw it was us, the beauty glanced at her students. "Keep working on that math!" she exclaimed. "I'll be right back!" Ms. White looked at us when we were out in the hall. "What can I do for you?" she asked.
I noticed that Puck had leaned over and whispered to Mr. Charming, "And you can't tell her it was a dare."
Mr. Charming scowled.
"Umm...I think we'll leave you two alone." Jake ushered us into the classroom. 20 heads turned to look at us.
I wilted under their gazes.
Puck grinned and waved until Sabrina slapped his hand.
I smiled. Daphne had told me all about 'Puckabrina.' Apparently my best friend was obsessed with that 'ship.' I glanced at the two again and remembered the time in the camp when they were arguing and I asked if they were in love or something.
Daphne had gone nuts with laughter. I had been confused then, because they acted as if they were in love, but they said they weren't.
But I guess now I'm more 'modern'. I glanced down at my clothes. Instead of wearing the red cloak I had worn for as long as I could remember, I was wearing a long-sleeved red shirt with a silver wolf on it (quite ironic isn't it?), black leggings, and red gym shoes. Wow. I looked so different than my fairy-tale form or whatever. But now I think I should get back to talking about what is going on now.
As the kids stared at us, Daphne smiled brightly. "Hi, guys!" They waved, but they were more interested in the glaring contest going on between Puck and Sabrina.
I leaned over to Jake. "Umm...how long have they been doing that?" I asked.
"A full two minutes," he answered, laughing.
I raised my eyebrows. "O-kaaay..."
Just then, Ms. White walked back in, her face flushed. She cleared her throat. "Okay, class, let's get back to work." She smiled at all the children, and all of the boys looked at her dreamily.
I giggled as one of the boys stood up to say something but ended up tripping over his feet because he was staring at Ms. White.
We went back out into the hall, and we saw Mr. Charming standing there, looking even brighter red than Ms. White. I kind of hoped that would be Sabrina and Puck one day.
"So, Billy, how'd it go?" Daphne teased.
Mr. Charming just shook his head and led everyone to the car. The very loud car.
When we had started driving, Daphne shouted again, "How'd it go?"
"Ugh, no I would never kiss a frog!" he answered.
Daphne replied, "But you have!"
He responded, "I have never eaten horse manure! Why would I do that??"
This conversation went on until we got to the house.
Puck happily raced upstairs. "Back to Truth or Dare!" he cried excitedly.
Sabrina grumbled something to herself and climbed up after the boy fairy.
I smiled again.
Puck's POV:
I flew up to the ceiling and sat upside down. I enjoyed watching how upset Sabrina became whenever someone mentioned a certain subject.
It was hilarious.
I wonder who Charming's gonna pick?
The dare Sabrina had given me had been fun. Especially when Daphne had screamed in frustration and run off.
I glanced down. Sabrina was standing under me. "Get down from the ceiling!" she exclaimed.
I shook my head, not missing how Red and Daphne and Charming were smiling. "Nope."
Sabrina must have noticed, too, 'cause she shouted, "PUCK!"
I floated down.
The way she had shouted my name reminded me of when she'd first woken up and found her hand handcuffed to mine.
Before my mind could elaborate on the already half-formed plan, Red quietly asked, "Um. Who is Mr. Charming going to pick?"
Charming looked around. "Hmm...Daphne, truth or dare?"
Sabrina's sister squealed happily. "Dare!"
I saw Sabrina wince.
I guess she's gonna be picking Truth...
Charming smiled. "Let's see...Daphne Grimm, I dare you to...say 'because I like Pinocchio' at the end of each of your sentences. And you have to do that for the rest of today!"
Daphne shot the would-be mayor a death glare. "I refuse to say anything!" she exclaimed.
Red tapped her shoulder to remind her.
"Because I like Pinocchio," she added, mumbling.
I clapped my hands delightedly.
Daphne turned to Sabrina. "Well, since I need to take revenge, truth or dare, Sabrina?"
Sabrina grinned, probably thinking that Daphne wouldn't dare to come up with a dare that she didn't like. But I could almost see the gears turning in Daphne's mind; and I liked the plan they were forming.
"Dare!" Sabrina exclaimed.
Daphne grinned even wider than before. "Well then, Sabrina Grimm, I dare you to say 'because I love Puck' after each of your sentences until Puck or I say you can stop."
Then the little girl smirked triumphantly.
Sabrina's mouth opened in an O. "Say. What?" she asked. "You didn't just say what I think you said, right??"
I smirked, too. "Oh, she sure did."
The blond girl scowled at me.
I shrugged. "It's true."
Charming was laughing so hard, it looked like his jaw would fall off.
"By the way," I asked. "Why does Charming find this so funny?"
"Because," Daphne explained, "as you know, he was in the future also, and when we got back, Sabrina wouldn't agree to a deal, so he threatened to tell you what happened in the future, and then me and him started singing the k-i-s-s-i-n-g song."
Even I frowned just a little at that.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I love seeing the annoyed looks on Sabrina's face, but...I don't know, it's hard to explain.
Sabrina shook her head. I am definitely not gonna do that!"
Her little sister smiled. "Well, then, you'll have to kiss Puck every day!"
Sabrina scowled so hard I thought her face might fall of from the strain. That thought made me laugh, and, once more, Sabrina glared at me.
I laughed even more, 'cause now her eyes would probably fall out of her face. Okay, enough of that.
Again, Sabrina turned to Daphne and said, "I am not gonna do that! You can't expect me to!"
And again Daphne said, "It's either that or Puck's lips!"
Sabrina growled angrily.
Sabrina's POV:
Granny Relda called us down to eat. I promised myself that I wouldn't say a single word. I knew these dares were gonna get a lot worse. For me, at least.
Granny served us purple soup with bright green noodles. I didn't even bother to ask what it was made of, knowing that it would be disgusting.
Granny turned to me. "Sabrina, why aren't you saying anything? I would at least expect complaints about the food!"
I shook my head.
Granny turned to Daphne, but my sister was too busy laughing.
My grandma looked very confused. "Well, anyway, Henry and Veronica are done with trying to get Faerie started again, so they'll be here any minute."
I groaned. I had thought it couldn't get any worse, but now it was about to.
Daphne's POV:
When I heard that Mom and Dad were coming, I got a little worried. Supposedly, Dad hated Puck, because he and Sabrina liked each other. He didn't want another Goldilocks incident. If Dad saw any of the later dares that I had in mind...well, let's just say he wouldn't be very happy.
I tried not to talk too much, considering my dare, but it was hard! Like, how could I not talk?!
I quickly finished my bowl of soup. It had tasted really good. And right at that moment, I decided I didn't care about the dare; I would scream it to the whole world for all I care!
"Granny!" I shouted, because my grandma was in the kitchen and not at the table. "Can I have more soup because I like Pinocchio?"
Billy snickered.
I stuck my tongue out at him.
Granny poked her head into he room, a confused expression on her face. "Umm...sure, liebling..."
I looked over at Sabrina; she still hadn't said a word. She won't be able to keep that up forever! I thought. Let's just hope she doesn't say anything in front of Mom and Dad! Eek! Dad would be livid!
And...what does 'livid' even mean? 'Cause I just heard that somewhere, but I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what it means!
Oh, well. I'll ask Sabrina later. Ha! Then she'd have to tell me and at the end she would have to say 'because I love Puck'! Yay! But will she agree to tell me the definition of livid?
Anyway, I hope livid means like, angry or something, 'cause if it means happy, that's messed up 'cause Dad would NOT be happy!
Just then I noticed that there was another bowl of soup in front of me.
Granny asked, "Daphne, do you know why Sabrina isn't talking?" she asked.
I bit back a grin. "Nope."
Charming full out laughed.
Granny looked at us strangely, then walked back to the kitchen muttering something about 'troublemakers'.
Who, us? I thought innocently.
Sabrina was already starting to blush.
Wow, she blushes a lot these days!
Granny Relda's POV:
I could tell those kids were up to something. Playing some kind of game, I suppose. Kids these days were always playing those kind of games. But what worried me was that they weren't doing any research; even though the Scarlet Hand didn't really trouble us anymore, there were still mysteries and conspiracies going around. I hoped the children were behaving themselves.
Little did I know of what game they were playing.
Veronica's POV:
I wiped my hands on my jeans. It was time to get back home. After paying a visit to Scrooge, and trying my hardest to reunite Faerie, all the hard work had not payed off.
Henry stood next to me, in Central Park. I turned to him. "Well, I guess we should go back."
He agreed and we took the car we had rented and drove towards Ferryport Landing.
When we got there, we unlocked the house, at the end knocking three times and saying, "We're home."
Relda met us at the door. "Henry! Veronica!" she exclaimed. "You came early!"
I smiled and nodded. "What are the kids doing?"
Relda frowned slightly. "They're upstairs playing a game; heaven knows what!"
Henry scowled. "They better not be playing Spin the Bottle!" He shook his fist.
I smiled. "Relax, Henry. First of all, there's only one boy, so it would be impossible, and second of all, you know Sabrina and Daphne would never agree to that."
Relda smiled uncomfortably. "Well, they're playing something!"
Henry and I walked up the stairs to Sabrina's room.
Henry opened the door, and when Puck saw us, he exclaimed happily, "Yay! You're here right for the next round of Truth or Dare!"
A/N:
Did you like the chapter? Just saying, Henry's gonna be getting mad a lot in this book. But...oh well! That's just him!
