Chapter 20
Sabrina's POV:
"Well that makes it official," I grumbled. I turned away from the door and to Daphne, who had walked up behind us. "I need to talk to you."
She looked a bit nervous, but she followed me up to my room.
"So," I said, closing the door. "What's up with the alicorn?"
Daphne fidgeted. "Okay, fine. I'll tell you. But you can't tell anyone else."
"Got it."
"Okay, so I took the Orb and went through one of the tunnels in Puck's room, which led to an private island resort and I met this guy there named Dan and I told him about the Orb and then he said that he might know how to make it work and he explained this whole thing about magnetism and we waited until a storm and then all this stuff happened with the Orb, but then it was gone and there was a bright light and instead there was this." Daphne took a deep breath and pointed to the necklace.
"So...a necklace appeared?"
"No..."
"Then what?"
"Uh, well, I'm gonna sound like a little girl."
"You are a little girl," I pointed out.
She scowled at me, but at the thought of whatever the Orb had turned into, she started grinning happily. "Well...it turned into an alicorn." Her grin got wider and wider.
"No way."
"And she can turn into this necklace."
I raised my eyebrows.
"I'm serious! I just haven't figured out what she does, exactly." Daphne frowned. "And I don't see how she's the answer to all our problems."
"She can fly," I reminded her. "And she has magic."
Daphne nodded. "True," she mused. "Do you want me to show her to you?"
"Uh, sure." I still found this hard to believe, but oh well. Now Daphne could prove that the alicorn was real or not.
"But...maybe we should go outside. Celeste is pretty big."
"First of all, you already gave her a name? And second of all, no way! It's way too dangerous outside! We just got a freaking letter from the Scarlet Hand!"
"Celeste will protect us," Daphne said matter-of-factly.
"Yeah, right." But I followed Daphne down the stairs and out of the house anyway. The rest of our family freaked out, but Daphne told them she had the Orb and that it would protect us.
Dad looked particularly skeptical, but he let us go.
We stood outside, me glancing around nervously. Daphne slipped the alicorn necklace over her head and laid it on the ground. She then murmured some words that were incoherent to me, and stepped back.
"...Well?" I asked after a few minutes passed.
She raised a finger. "Give it a minute. Celeste likes sleeping, and that's why Al and I had so much trouble getting her out of the Orb."
"Ah," I said, like this was perfectly sensible.
We waited a couple more minutes. I was opening my mouth to say we should go back inside when a shining light emanated from the necklace.
"See?" Daphne said triumphantly.
I rolled my eyes but watched intently as the light got brighter and brighter.
A sudden flash made me shield my eyes with my hands and turn away. When I looked back, the sight almost made me topple over.
Daphne grinned. "Isn't she so pretty?" She ran up to the alicorn and hugged her around the neck.
"What..." I managed.
"I can also talk with her with my mind," Daphne added. "It's really cool!"
Celeste was huge, probably bigger than any horse. She had even bigger feathery, silvery wings and a spiraling horn. There was a smaller one directly behind it that shimmered like the rainbow.
"Why...why does she have two horns?" I asked weakly.
Daphne shrugged. "I have no idea."
Celeste looked at me with her bright green eyes, and I was painfully reminded of Puck.
"That's my sister," Daphne told her. "I was thinking that maybe we could show you to the rest of our family so that all of us can figure out what to do."
Celeste's eyes turned black, with a small reflection of a scarlet red hand in them. Then they turned completely black.
Daphne nodded and turned to me. She explained, "Celeste's eyes reflect what you wish for the most."
Celeste she was still turned toward Daphne, and now one eye slowly changed to green and the other to blue.
Daphne fought a smile. "Yup, you got that right!"
I glared at her.
Celeste's eyes changed again, but I couldn't see them as well.
Daphne frowned. "No way! Nuh-uh!"
"What?" I asked.
Celeste snorted and pawed the ground with her hoof.
"Nothing," Daphne said a little too quickly.
"Are you sure about that?" I asked, smiling.
Celeste seemed to shake her head, which made me grin more.
Daphne scowled at me. "ANYWAY, Celeste, can the rest of our family see you?"
A moment later she grinned. "Okay. And then you can help us with the whole problem with the Scarlet Hand."
"So only you can talk to her telepathically?" I asked.
"What does tele...telepath...ically mean?"
I sighed. "And we're back to this again. It means talking to someone with your mind."
"Oh. Then yeah."
"So we're showing Celeste to everyone else?"
"Not everyone. We want her to be our secret weapon, don't we?"
Celeste snorted.
"I'm sorry," Daphne said, standing on her tiptoes to pat Celeste's back. "I didn't mean it in a rude way."
The alicorn still seemed a little offended.
Daphne turned back to me. "We're telling the rest our family, Snow, Bella, Toby, sadly Charming, the rest of the coven, the two pigs... y'know, the people that are planning everything with us right now."
"Okay."
"And once everyone has calmed down and stopped fainting, then we'll see what Celeste can do."
"Okay."
"But maybe we should wait till everyone gets here tomorrow." Daphne laughed. "It'll be fun to see them all pass out at the same time."
I smiled. "Yeah, it definitely will."
Celeste took the cue. Her second horn glimmered brighter and a moment later she was gone. A necklace with an alicorn figurine lay on the ground where she had stood just seconds before.
Red's POV:
I walked out of my room and down the stairs with Elvis just in time to see Daphne and Sabrina come inside. Daphne had a necklace around her neck that I didn't recognize. The object string onto it shimmered and seemed to glow, but I couldn't tell what it was.
"Red!" Daphne exclaimed happily. "You're in for a big surprise tomorrow!"
The glow had faded from the necklace, and I realized that it was a tiny alicorn figurine.
"What's that?" I asked, pointing.
She grinned. "You'll see."
Then she grabbed mine and Sabrina's hands and raced back up the stairs. She went so fast I nearly stumbled and fell down the stairs. Elvis walked up after us.
"Come on," she said. "I'm in the mood for watching IT again."
"Again?" Sabrina asked, confused. "And Daphne! That movie is RATED R!! You're nine years old!!! You're not allowed to watch it!!!"
"What's IT?" I asked.
Daphne gasped, completely ignoring Sabrina. "OMG. I forgot that you've NEVER EVER seen a movie!"
I frowned, getting more confused. "What's—"
"I'll show you." Daphne dragged us into Puck's room.
"Um," Sabrina said, "Daphne? Isn't this dangerous, with Erift and all?"
She shrugged. "I haven't seen Erift at all lately. Maybe he's gone. Now hurry up!"
She brought us to a tunnel with red curtains in front of it.
"Daph, does this possibly lead to a movie theater?" Sabrina asked.
"Uh...maybe." Daphne gave us a cheeky grin and pulled us into it. I heard Elvis whine and dive in after us, his paws scrabbling against the smooth stone floor of the tunnel. The walls were red carpet.
We skidded to a stop and hit some heavy red curtains with gold tassels.
Daphne stood up and spread her arms as the curtains slid apart. "Welcome to Puck and Daphne's Theater," she said proudly.
Sabrina looked at her expressionlessly. "So...you've been hiding this from me the whole time?" she asked calmly.
"...Yes?"
"I'm gonna kill you!"

11:00 PM
"Hey, Mom! Hey, Dad!" Daphne called as we walked downstairs.
No reply.
"Uh...hello?"
"Where is everyone?!" I whispered to her frantically.
"They're looking everywhere for you," Mr. Charming's voice said from the couch. "I decided to stay here and watch some TV."
"They called everyone?" Sabrina asked.
"Yup."
Maybe we got carried away watching all those movies, I thought sheepishly.
Daphne sighed. "Well then...we're in for some big trouble..."
Elvis whimpered.
A/N:
YES!! I finally finished the chapter! It's not even that long, and I don't know why it took me FOREVER! So how do you guys like Celeste?
