our stories started out simple.

evil vs good. the devil vs god.

but then our narrative changed.

our stories changed as we did.
our monsters became more real,
with less explanation for them
and their actions. evil wasn't all
self explanatory anymore when
seemingly good people did bad
things , and the public began to
change once again. we needed
to pin it to someones, to some-
things,  that fit the profiles.

our demons became literal
monsters. the rapists became
dr jekyll and mr hyde , our
serial killers , Frankensteins.
our devil became dracula.

they had teeth, and claws.
lived in the dark and preyed
on the weak, the pure.

until we evolved more,
and got more complex
once again as time past.

our monsters began to walk
like a man in the 70s. choking
babysitters , stabbing cops.
they came as nightmares with
sick twisted humor. the boogey
man was everywhere , and
it could be anyone.

until, finally. we are
where we are today.

no longer good and evil.
no longer monsters as man,
or man as monsters. we are
one. stuck in our own heads.

we fall through dark places,
whisper among trees , and
over all symbolize and ruining
society. we can't put the blame
on the devil forever, or the
monsters he created.

because at the end of
the day. god is the one who created us, and we're the
worst monsters of all.
