57. My bitch

"So how about we talk about the band?" Murdoc looked over at Noodle and Russel in a confident manner. 2d was sitting beside him and fumbling with his fingers, he didn't feel mentally strong enough to look up. Their thighs were touching, and this brought 2d at least a bit of comfort.

"How can we talk about band when we don't even know you?" Noodle spoke up for the first time. Her accent was strong with every vowel she pronounced.

"Noodz, we're not going to be talking about the band." Russel turned to her softly. "We're not joining the band."

"Awe come on!" Murdoc cut into their tender moment. "At least give us a chance, will ya? As Noodle said, you don't even know us." One thing about Murdoc's language that particularly confused Russel was his use of pronouns. Murdoc used the word "us" when talking about the band, yet it sounded like he was referring to himself and the blue boy. Noodle and Russel exchanged glances.

"Ok. Then tell us about yourself." Russel sounded bored, and didn't acknowledge 2d as part of the band. Clearly, 2d didn't want to be there, so if he was in his right mind he wouldn't have joined the band. Murdoc smirked to this, and cleared his throat.

"My name is Murdoc Niccals, I'm technically a god around here." Noodle and Russel exchanged questioning glances before looking back at the narcissist. "No one messes with me unless they have a death wish." He chuckled darkly, to which, surprisingly, 2d gave him the side eye. Murdoc's brow twitched up ever so slightly as he made eye contact with 2d. 2d's head was still down so Noodle and Russel weren't able to tell that the two boys established a form of contact.

"Threatening them's not the way..." 2d scolded in a barely audible voice.

"Right," Murdoc replied, almost to himself, before quickly looking back at the two in front of him. "And this here is 2d." He gestured the blue ball of anxiety who was still secretly watching him. "He's my bitch."

"Wh-What??" 2d's shoulders jerked back in surprise and he turned to Murdoc as he sat up, revealing that he was slightly taller than the alleged 'god'. This was the first time Noodle and Russel heard 2d speak clearly. "I'm not your bitch!" He sounded offended, to which Murdoc just chuckled again.

"Of course you are." They made eye contact, but there was something in their eyes which the other two couldn't exactly understand. Murdoc looked at 2d knowingly, remembering all the things they did together and reminding the boy who he belonged to. 2d, on the other hand, had a more sour look. He looked like he was ready to argue with Murdoc, not about what they did together, but specifically about being called his 'bitch'.

"I. Am not. Your bitch, Murdoc." 2d was glaring at Murdoc by now, and sitting with his arms crossed.

"Oh really?" Murdoc spoke with his sassy voice. "What are you then?" He seemed amused by the situation, unlike the other three students.

"I don't know Murdoc, what am I to you?" 2d spat at the other boy, leaving him a bit shocked (he didn't actually spit, it's just an expression). 2d huffed and turned his head away in a pout. Murdoc raised both his eyebrows in surprise, only now realising that 2d could have been serious about this. Seeing as the staircase was now filled with an awkward silence, Russel decided to speak up.

"So..." His voice snapped Murdoc out of his thoughts, which were mainly focused on calming 2d down without having too much of a serious conversation when Russel and Noodle were around. "How did you two meet...?" Russel was a nice person, and he didn't like this awkwardness. He thought that maybe the question would help better understand the relationship between the two.

"Hehe.." A dark smirk once again appeared on Murdoc's face. 2d continued looking at the wall, wondering what Murdoc was planning. "Let's just say, I made a crashing entrance into his life." 2d's eyes widened. He quickly turned around to face Murdoc again.

"Did you just-?!" 2d couldn't finish his sentence, he was speechless.

"Yup." Murdoc proudly watched the The disbelief growing in 2d's eyes.

"Ugh! You're unbelievable!" Murdoc chuckled again, causing 2d's lips to curl into a pout once more. Russel and Noodle remained confused, but did notice that Murdoc really liked to mess with the blue boy.

"That's why you love me." Murdoc smirked. 2d's eyes widened and his heart skipped a beat.

"Wh-What??" He could feel his cheeks heating up, and Murdoc's possessive eyes, locked in his, weren't helping. "I-I don't..." 2d's breath hitched. "Why would you think... I-I..." 2d whimpered. As his arms begun to tremble he decided that he had enough, and tucked his knees into his chest, quickly curling up into a ball. His face remained hidden.

"It's so easy to frustrate you, 2d." Murdoc laughed and raised his hand to pat him on the back. Once he was done, he left his arm on 2d's back, using his fingers to play with the material of his shirt. He turned back to Noodle and Russel to continue the conversation, leaving 2d to his thoughts about the meaning of the word 'love', and why it kept popping up whenever Murdoc was around. "So, where were we?"

"Murdoc, why do you keep bullying the poor kid?" Russel asked, not too pleased, as Noodle just observed.

"What? 2d? I'm not bullying him!" Murdoc defended himself half heartedly. "We're just joking around, aren't we, 2d?" To this, the blue boy only released a grumble under his nose.

"'Only joking around' my ass." He mumbled. He clearly wasn't referring to Murdoc's stupid jokes, but to something more, and Murdoc knew it.

"Yeah, whatever he said." Murdoc stated, fully aware that Noodle and Russel couldn't hear what 2d said. "We're actually best friends, y'know?"

"Doesn't look like it..." Russel whispered, gaining a swift nod from Noodle.

"Anyway, enough about us. How did you two meet?" Murdoc asked.

"We met in canteen." Noodle replied. Russel wasn't so happy that she was interacting with Murdoc, he didn't want her to be exposed to his toxicity.

"Yeah, last weeks of school before Christmas break, when you two were gone." Russel added.

"Ah, right. When 2d had a fever." Murdoc's words caused 2d's mind to return to that time, and be flooded with pro-Murdoc thoughts. "So Russ, what happened to that whole thing of yours where you said there's no good people to hang around with 'round here?"

"There still aren't." Russel stated. "Noodle's the most decent person I've met."

Then you clearly haven't met 2d... Murdoc thought.

"Russel nice person too." Noodle smiled up at them. Murdoc assessed the scene in front of him, the two seemed to have gotten close. Maybe this would help him make them join the band, since they'd feel safer together. Same as 2d didn't like going anywhere without Murdoc.

"So Noodle, I heard you had some sort of memory issues..?" Murdoc asked, wondering if that would have an impact on her performance in the band.

"Seriously man, where do you hear all this stuff?" Russel cut in.

"Sources." Murdoc quickly replied before turning to Noodle and expecting an answer.

"I don't remember past." Noodle stated. "I remember being here, England, but not home, Japan." She explained.

"And do you still forget things nowadays?" Murdoc asked.

"Nop. Perfect memory." Noodle grinned, her green eyes were slightly visible through her fringe.

"That's good, I guess." Murdoc was speaking to himself. "At least you'll remember how to play the songs."

"How many times do I have to tell you that we're not joining the band?" Russel asked, his brows furrowed.

And so the conversation continued, leading the group virtually to nowhere, until the bell for lesson rang and the pointless conversation/ argument was cut short.

Only when Noodle and Russel stood up to leave, and after they waved their hesitant goodbyes, did 2d start to uncurl from his protective ball. Murdoc looked at him sadly and with a sigh, he was running his hand down 2d's back.

"2d, I'm sorry." He begun. "You were right, you're not just my bitch, you're someone so much more important." 2d looked at him, cheeks slightly red.

"Why are you apologising, Mudz?" He seemed genuinely curious. He just went through an entire trial in his head about why he shouldn't take Murdoc's jokes into heart. Murdoc knew how this sentence would have finished: 'why are you apologising if you don't care about me?'.

"It was meant to be a joke, but it looks like you took it seriously. I just... don't want to lose you over something so stupid..." Murdoc hesitated to make eye contact with 2d.

"Yeah, it really is stupid... that you thought you could lose me over this." 2d smiled, gaining a sigh of relief from Murdoc. The two looked at each other for a moment, the situation was really getting complicated. There was something between them, and it was getting hard to hide. It definitely wasn't nothing, and, eventually, they'd have to come out with it...
