The Royal Blacksmiths

Lloyd's POV (Betcha you didn't expect this!)

"Ugh. Why musssst we sssstop if the next Fangblade is just ahead of ussss?" Skales asked Pythor. We were walking in this weird tomb thingy to find a Fangsword? I think that's what it's called. I wondered how Kaylee was doing, I hope she's okay and we can play some more pranks soon.

"What good is unlocking the Great Devourer with the four Fangbladesss, if we're not around to sssee it? Get the boy!" Pythor yells. I guess the Fangswords are Fangblades. Oh well, same thing.

"Bring the boy!" Skales yells and I am pushed forward. Pythor then cuts off my chains.

"Oh, you're letting me go?" I ask hopefully. Now I can get back to the Bounty and see Kaylee!

"Heh, only to fetch, my dear boy. Do step lightly." Pythor pushes me to the edge, where falling rocks marked a bottomless pit. "Bring me the Fangblade, and I'll let you go." Pythor smirks.

I begin running across, having slowly crossed the pit, dodging arrows and other really dangerous things.

"Oh!" I yell as an arrow nearly missed my head. "Woah!" I scream as the ceiling begins to cave in on me, as I finally reached the Fangblade, a stick broke, releasing huge amounts of rocks into the room, pushing me to the middle of it. I chuckle softly, thinking about how Kaylee would probably have tried to escape with her powers or sass Pythor. I couldn't wait until I see her again! I step up on the stairs thing, only to find out that it was gone. "It's gone!" I yell and I could hear some sounds of disappointment across the rocks and stuff. "Do I still get to be freed?" I asked.

"No!" Pythor snaps

"Ugh!" I pout. I was so close!

Kaylee's POV

"They got the first one, but there are three more, and we just need one to stop Pythor. They have a map, and we don't, so the question remains: how are we gonna find them first?" Nya points to the screen, where the 4 Fangblades were.

"I still can't get over the fact that you were the mysterious Samurai. Is anyone else blown away like I am?" Jay looks at Nya lovingly.

"We're over that. Can we move on?" Kai says, impatiently.

"Someone's a little hot under the collar." I tease.

"It appears his impatience is because he has not found inner peace and unlocked his full potential like you and I have, Jay." Zane reasons.

"Great observation, Mr. Roboto, but Cole and Kaylee haven't found it either." Kai snaps.

"I got it!" Cole cheers, holding a picture album.

"You've unlocked it? Oh, why am I the only one!?" Kai moans and I punch his arm.

"I still haven't gotten my True Potential yet idiot."

"No, I figured out where I recognized the Fangblade from. I have a picture of it." Cole reports.

"Oh, haha, is that it? Heh. Good." Kai sheepishly says. Cole opens the album to show a gold trophy with the Fangblade embedded in it.

"That's it!" Jay points to the blade.

"Back when I grew up, there's this pretty big competition where every year the winner gets the Blade Cup. My dad won it multiple times." Cole explains.

"You never told us your dad was an accomplished athlete. What sport?" Zane asks.

"Oh, h-he's a, uh...a blacksmith." Cole stutters.

" Nothing wrong with that. My father was a blacksmith, too. But I've never heard of a competition—" Kai adds.

"That's because he's not a "blacksmith" blacksmith. He's a...Royal Blacksmith." Cole flips a page to show his dad with a music quartet, all holding the Blade Cup.

"That's your dad?" Jay asks, trying not to laugh.

"But how did the Fangblade become a trophy?" I ask.

"Well, supposedly, the Blade Cup was made by this guy who collected priceless artifacts. His name was something like, uh, Dutch...no, Clutch. Clutch Powers! Anyway, it gets passed on to each year's winner." Cole says.

"Who has it now?" Zane questions.

"I don't know. I haven't talked to my father in years." Cole looks down at his shoes.

"Well then, we'll call him up," Kai says enthusiastically.

"You can't! He thinks I'm in Ninjago City training at the Marty Oppenheimer School of Performing Arts. He wanted me to follow in his footsteps. But when I couldn't sing or dance, well I...I ran away. When he sees I can't dance, he'll know I've been lying in all the letters I've been sending him." Cole stops Kai before he reached the phone.

"He doesn't know you're a Ninja?" I say.

"What? You gonna crack some joke that my old man wears a tutu?" Cole huffs.

"No, but if we're going to have any chance at getting that Fangblade before they do, we better get our own act in tune." Kai slings an arm around Cole.

"While you guys were having that heart-to-heart chat over there, I got us the coordinates. Buckle up guys and gals!" Nya jokes, as she steers the Bounty. When we finally get there, we decide to jump off the Bounty. Good choice right?

"Woo-hoo!" Kai yells as we all hurtled towards the ground, clad in normal clothing. I was wearing a random hoodie with leggings and sneakers with two ponytails (Imagine them in any way you like)

"Yeah, woo!" Jay cheers, as the 4 summon their vehicles to provide a safe landing. I gracefully float down slowly, using my powers.

"Alright, hand them over," Cole says, opening up a suitcase looking thing with places for the golden weapons.

"Ah-uh. But no mortal shall possess all four." Jay jokes.

"Very funny." Cole deadpans as all of the 4 golden weapons get thrown into the suitcase.

"You wanna remind me again why we can't keep our weapons?" Kai asks

"I told you, my dad can't find out I'm a Ninja. And I don't feel like making up excuses why I'm carrying a giant scythe around with me. Just remember the plan: we find out who has the Fangblade trophy, we snatch it, and then we get the heck out of town." Cole repeats the plan to us, then goes to knock on the door.

"Just a moment." A man's voice speaks as he opened the door to reveal an old man that bore a striking resemblance to Cole.

"Hey, dad. How long has it been?" Cole nervously said.

"What? You too good for the doorbell?" Cole's father snaps and he slams the door.

"Uh..." We all look at each other dubiously. Maybe this was harder than expected.

"Use the bell, son." Cole's dad says, and Cole presses the doorbell.

"Welcome." The doorbell sang and we looked at the doorbell strangely. Cole's dad then opens the door.

"Haha. Come on in, son. It's been forever. What did you bring? A quartet? Oh, and who's this little girl?" Cole's dad answered the door in a jolly voice.

"Uh, she's my little sister." Zane cut in. "She wanted to come with us here." I quickly nod.

"Come in, come in. I've got a kettle of lemon honey tea on the stove right now." Cole's dad ushered us in happily.

Music was playing in the room as we all sipped some tea. I think lemon-honey tea will be my favorite tea now.

"Did my son tell you I broke my foot? It was the cha-cha but I swear the percussionist had it in for me." Cole's dad, which I learned to be named Lou, told us, pointing his cane at his broken foot.

"No, dad. I didn't tell them about your silly stories." Cole groans.

"Silly stories?" Lou says.

"Oh, what he meant was, we've been busy training at the...uh..." Kai stutters.

"Uh, the Martha Oppenheimer. Yeah." Jay said. The music stops.

"Martha Oppenheimer?" Lou asks.

"What he's trying to say is the Marty Oppenheimer School of Performing Arts." Zane cuts in before our cover was blown.

"Right! Well, um, see, we have this final research paper we're doing on the history of Ninjago talent, and what we really wanted to know was how can we get our hands on the Blade Cup?" Cole asks.

"You're talking about getting your hands on the Blade Cup? The most prized and heavily guarded award in all of Ninjago, the symbol of excellence in harmony and grace? You can't just get it, you have to earn it. You have to exhibit style. Perfect pitch. Push the boundaries of artistic license and win this year's Ninjago Talent Show!" Lou steps on the spare couch, balancing on one leg.

"Um, perhaps there's an easier way?" I ask quietly.

"Is this why you came? You knew I was injured and when my quartet insisted we shan't go on, you four have come to take our place! Haha, ingenious! My son, bringing forth the next evolution of the Royal Blacksmiths! Let me hear the sweet, sweet sound of harmony." Lou happily leans his ear in. Jay smiles and jumps up.

"Harmony..." Jay sings.

"Harmony..." Zane and Kai join in and Lou and Cole wince.

"Harmony..." I sing and everyone looks at me.

"Look, dad. We just need the trophy." Cole explains.

"Yeah, we're bringing home the gold and-and we want you to train us." Kai jumps in.

"I've never been more proud. If you'll excuse me, I need to write a song about my feelings, and I believe you have a young star on your hands." Lou points at me and winks at Zane before starting to sniffle and walk out.

"What are you doing?" Cole hisses.

"Look, we enter this competition so we can get close enough to the Blade Cup. Once we get the Fangblade, we leave town. How hard can this be?" Kai shrugs. "But I didn't know you could sing Kaylee." Kai starts, looking at me.

"That's because I didn't know I could either," I admit. "I like listening to music. Not sing."

"Well, I think we should enter separately, that way we can have 2 chances at winning the Fangblade." Zane points out and we all agree.

"Okay then, let's win this thing, guys!" Jay cheers.

"Okay, from the top. Five, six, seven, eight." Lou plays the piano.

"Bop till you drop it." Kai sings.

"Shake it till you break it." Jay does a weird worm move thingy.

"Move it till you lose it." Zane tries.

"Spin it till you win it." True to the lyrics, Cole spins.

"Stop, stop. Ugh. If my ears weren't attached to my head, they'd be running away! Kai, love the energy, hate the hair." Lou winces and proceeds to scold them, like Sensei Wu.

"Aah!" Kai cringes at the cane being hit on his hair. I snicker. Kai's hair was literally his pride and joy in the fashion department.

"Jay, you're giving a lot, but I need more. Zane, you're like a machine. Don't change anything. And Cole, try to act like you wanna be here." Lou lists off everything that was wrong with them and I look at my sheet of music. Gee, this song was something. It literally is the most inspiring song. Note my sarcasm. "Okay, moving forward. Let's take a look at the big show-stopping climax. Cole, we can't have history repeating itself." Lou points his cane, Cole sighs.

"Dad, it was the Triple Tiger Sashay. I was seven." Cole groans.

"What's the Triple Tiger Sashay?" I ask.

"Only the most difficult dance move ever created," Cole says.

"It's true. Many professionals have dare tried, but it's never been successfully completed." Lou explains.

"Hence, my father thought I could. But I ended up falling on my face, humiliating myself, and letting my quartet down." Cole snaps.

"If you're going to win, you have to go big! Alright, time for a break while I train Kaylee." Lou says, then ushering me out of the door. "Okay, try to sing the song, and I'll score you after," Lou says as he put in the music to the jukebox or whatever he uses. I take a deep breath and start singing "A Million Dreams" From The Greatest Showman.

(I'm just gonna put the lyrics here. Hope you like the song choice)

I close my eyes and I can see

The world that's waiting up for me

That I call my own

Through the dark, through the door

Through where no one's been before

But it feels like home

They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy

They can say, they can say I've lost my mind

I don't care, I don't care, so call me crazy

We can live in a world that we design

'Cause every night I lie in bed

The brightest colors fill my head

A million dreams are keeping me awake

I think of what the world could be

A vision of the one I see

A million dreams is all it's gonna take

A million dreams for the world we're gonna make

There's a house we can build

Every room inside is filled

With things from far away

Special things I compile

Each one there to make you smile

On a rainy day

They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy

They can say, they can say we've lost our minds

I don't care, I don't care if they call us crazy

Runaway to a world that we design

Every night I lie in bed

The brightest colors fill my head

A million dreams are keeping me awake

I think of what the world could be

A vision of the one I see

A million dreams is all it's gonna take

A million dreams for the world we're gonna make

However big, however small

Let me be part of it all

Share your dreams with me

You may be right, you may be wrong

But say that you'll bring me along

To the world you see

To the world, I close my eyes to see

I close my eyes to see

Every night I lie in bed

The brightest colors fill my head

A million dreams are keeping me awake

A million dreams, a million dreams

I think of what the world could be

A vision of the one I see

A million dreams is all it's gonna take

A million dreams for the world we're gonna make

For the world, we're gonna make

We practiced like that for 10 minutes, before Lou turned to the guys and they practiced some more. We then pick out outfits, and I was sadly forced into a dress. (Same thing, just imagine any way you like because I am too lazy now.)

I was just happy that I didn't get to have a hat, which would make things worse.

"Then kick ball change, barrel roll, barrel turn, and we all do the double wings—" Cole recites, as they, meaning the guys, practice their routine for the umpteenth time.

"Ow! Dude, you gotta follow me." Jay scolds, Kai who had bumped into him.

"Follow you? You're two beats off." Kai retorts.

"Actually, 2.72 off of the beat." Zane butts in.

"Guys, guys! Let's not make this any harder than it needs to be. We just stick to the plan and keep up the charade until the trophies revealed. Once we steal the Blade Cup, we can argue all we want once we get back home." Cole says.

"But this is your hometown, Cole. Don't you want to try and win it?" I ask.

"Ugh, the only dance step I wanna perform is called: Get me out of this nuthouse, and let's burn these memories from my head," Cole exclaims.

"What?" Lou gasps.

"Dad, I..." Cole starts.

"You...you were going to steal it?" Lou asks.

"Dad, I didn't mean for you to hear that but-but I'm glad you did. There's something I've been wanting to tell you. All these years, I haven't been training to be a singer or a dancer. I found something new that I'm really good at. Dad..." Cole gets in the black ninja gi using spinjitzu. "I'm a Ninja. And the truth is if we don't steal that Fangblade—I mean, Blade Cup—there are other people that will. Bad people. Serpentine. And we need it to save the world. I know how ridiculous this sounds, but I'm proud of who I am, and I want you to be proud of me, too." Cole puts each hand on his father's shoulders.

"I can't be proud of any son who thinks stealing is right. And I'm not gonna wait around to watch you make a mockery of our family's legacy." Lou points his cane at Cole, then backs out of the room.

"Dad, I—" Cole starts.

"I'm sure he didn't mean that," I say.

"Maybe if he saw you in action!" Jay adds cheerfully.

"No, it's-it's okay," Cole says, but then a door slams open and outcome a few Serpentine in bad costumes.

"Treble Makers?" Zane asks.

"Wait a minute. What are they doing here?" Jay asks.

"It looks like we're not the only ones planning to steal the Blade Cup. Pythor's here." Kai informs, after coming back from his peek out of the curtains.

"This complicates things," Zane says.

"Then I say we make our move. We can't risk losing out again. I say we steal it." Jay slams his fist on his hand.

"We're not gonna steal it. We're gonna win this competition, but we're gonna do it our way."

"Our way?" We all ask.

"Okay, here's the plan," Cole says,  bringing us all in. We smile, then start practicing our new dance.

"And after this... Kaylee-Oh there's been a switch, she's not performing anymore. And last but not least! The Royal Blacksmi—Uh, hold on. Uh, this just in, there's been another switch. Taking the stage next is Spin Harmony!" The Announcer yells.

"If we're gonna do this, I want everyone to see who we are," Cole says, as we all nervously shuffle around in our ninja gis.

"I have butterflies in my stomach." Zane admits.

"Aww, come on. That's just nerves." Jay jokes.

"No, I really do have butterflies," Zane says, opening his control panel door, letting out a couple of butterflies.

"Okay, uh, glad he got that out of his system," I say weirdly.

"Last call for Spin Harmony!" The Announcer yells.

"Let's do this, for Cole!" Jay pumps a fist.

"If we can do the Tornado of Creation, we can score perfect 10s out there," Kai says.

"I can say anything and it will only go to elevate our team unity." Zane points out.

"We can do this!" I cheer.

"I'm glad you guys are my friends. Let's do the whip!" Cole cheers.

"Ninja, go!" We all yell.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Spin Harmony!" The Announcer yells.

We all pile on the stage and start dancing to the beat. As a few serpentine tries to crash our party, we fight them off while dancing. A large beanbag sails from above, and I quickly kick it, so Jay wouldn't get hurt. Suddenly, Cole jumps and does a dance move, that until now was never done successfully.

"The Triple Tiger Sashay." Zane gasps.

"Oh, he did it! The Triple Tiger Sashay! He's danced the impossible! It's a perfect score! Spin Harmony wins the Blade Cup!" The Announcer yells as Cole is handed the Blade Cup. We all gathered around him, hugging each other happily.

"I've never felt more alive." Zane happily exclaims at the backstage of Ninjago Talent.

"Hahaha! We did it!" Jay yells, and we dance while laughing.

"No, Cole did it. Because of you, Ninjago will sleep safely tonight." Kai compliments Cole, who looks at the Blade Cup with a sad face.

"Thanks, but go on and celebrate without me. Winning this doesn't feel the same without my dad being able to—" Cole trails.

"Cole!" Lou yells.

"Dad?" Cole exclaims.

"I saw it all, son. I saw it all." Lou says proudly.

"You saw me dance?" Cole asks, flabbergasted.

"More importantly, I saw you fight. Those Serpentine were up to no good, trying to steal the show, and I saw you stand up for what is right. I was wrong. I shouldn't have pushed you so hard to follow in my footsteps. Everyone is born with a special talent inside that's just been waiting to get out. And you were born to be a Ninja." Lou smiles.

"You're not mad?" Cole asks timidly.

"How can I be? My son's a hero!" Lou cheers.

"Eh, sorry to interrupt your little family reunion, but did you know it's me, Pythor." Pythor rips off a fake beard, revealing his really obvious disguise.

"You couldn't fool us, Pythor." I snap.

"I didn't want to miss our big show stopper," Pythor smirks as a few Constrictai knock over a big box, which crashed into big lights, which then started to fall on to Lou.

"Dad!" Cole yells, diving in the mess of big, heavy lights and stuff.

"They took the Fangblade." Jay coughs, and we all do because there's so much dust around. Wow, great grammar and describing skills Kaylee.

"Cole!" Kai coughs, and we all rush to where the dust came from, not from it because we don't care about physical health. No, I'm just kidding. We do, dust doesn't poison you. Well, at least I don't think it does. We peer over at the suitcase holding the Golden Weapons, to find Cole's scythe glowing.

"He found his True Potential." I marvel at the swirling colors of orange and brown and other colors I couldn't make up.

"Wha-what? How did we survive that? Son?" Lou asks bewildered as Cole helps him out of the mess of big, heavy lights.

"Cole's found his True Potential. His relationship with his father must have been holding him back." Zane explains.

"He's indestructible!" Jay cheers and mumbles something incoherent behind us.

"Is everyone alright? What just happened?" Cole shakes his head.

"Lou: We're all okay, son." Lou happily puts an arm around Cole.

"Oh, man," Kai says.

"That was really cool," Jay yells.

"You found your True Potential," Zane says.

We had all returned back to Cole's father's house. We were all on the couch, actually, I was on the floor, but who cares? We were all drinking lemon-honey tea.

"I guess the scorecard now reads Pythor-two Fangblades, Ninja-zero." Jay sums up our journey nicely.

"Yeah, but all we need is one, and there are still two left to find." Cole optimistically says.

"Who knows? Maybe when I unlock my True Potential, I'll turn into the destined Green Ninja." Kai gloats.

"Yeah, dream on." I laugh.

"Ha, okay." Jay laughs.

"The only thing you're destined for is a more inflated ego." Cole slings an arm around Kai, who joined in on our laughing.

"It may not be the trophy, but it sure will look good on my wall," Lou says, hanging up a picture of me, Zane, Jay, Cole, and Kai.

"All right!" Cole marvels.

"Excellent!" Zane cheers.

"Awesome!" Kai yells.

"Nice!" Jay compliments.

"That's so cool!" I gush.

"As far as I'm concerned, you're all my family now," Lou claims, and we all get in a group hug.

"Yeah!" Cole grins.

Okay, so I just checked my story and...
