The Last Hope

Kaylee's POV

"Hey, Misako. Do you think his scroll could be of use?" I ask, holding up a scroll with a rather terrifying picture of the Stone Army on it.

"Hmmm, give it to me." I hand it to Misako, who studies the ancient writing on it.

"Well?" I press nervously.

"Great job! Kaylee! You've found it!" Misako laughs happily.

"Found what?" I was super confused.

"I'll tell you later honey." Misako walks out of the Bounty.

"I know you don't want to face your father, but there is no other choice." Nya reasons with Lloyd, who's standing dejectedly next to Sensei.

"But perhaps there is. I used to think it was inevitable, but then Kaylee found this." Misako unravels a scroll.

"You mean Lloyd and Kaylee don't have to fight? This I gotta hear." Cole cheers.

"You okay?" I murmur, holding Lloyd's hand.

"Yeah, now that you're here and have found to key from stopping the Final Battle." Lloyd cheekily smiles.

"Haha." I smile.

"The scrolls say that when the Helmet of Darkness is bequeathed to its rightful ruler, the Celestial Clock will count down to the activation of an unspeakable weapon. The first sign that the Final Battle between good and evil has begun." Misako explains.

"Did you just say unspeakable weapon?" Kai asks.

"Uh, I'm still stuck on what 'bequeathed' means." Jay retorts.

"Go on, Misako. Don't let us interrupt you. How do we stop the Final Battle?" Cole asks. I stare at them. I think they were practicing their powers, but now I think they were playing with them. I redirect my attention to Misako.

"There is nothing here that explains what would happen if the Helmet of Darkness is returned." Misako points out.

"Interesting. Remove the helmet, the clock starts. Put it back, the clock stops?" Sensei thinks.

"And the Final Battle never starts." Lloyd smiles.

"Bequeathed, anyone? Is anybody gonna help me out with that?" Jay tries again.

Ignoring Jay, Kai starts asking questions. "Uh, that sounds great and all, and I know we have our new powers, but you expect us to get past his whole army of Stone Warriors and pluck the helmet off his head?"

"My brother's right. They're good, but they're not that good." Nya says.

"I know. And that is why I am going to do it. I'll just need a little help." Misako ushers the guys over. I and Lloyd stand up and walk over to them, but Sensei stops us.

"I'm sorry, Lloyd. This mission isn't for you." Sensei says.

"But I'm all powered up, I can help." Lloyd protests.

"We mustn't let you and your father come face to face yet. We're trying to prevent the Final Battle, not welcome it." Sensei reasons.

"Yes, Sensei." Lloyd sighs.

"What about me Sensei?" I ask.

"Last time you went on a mission, it resulted in our presence on the island being found," Sensei replies.

"Aww, okay." I sigh.

It wasn't that long until the Falcon notified us that the guys and Misako were in danger so Nya set out to get them, as for me, Lloyd, and Sensei run to the clock. We hear a mech, and see Garmadon with the vehicle the others were in, and Lloyd quickly runs to help them. I start to run after him, but Sensei puts a hand on my shoulder. I sigh, and we work our way to the clock.

"Oh wow." I gasp, as we arrive at the clock. It was spinning and golden, which looked quite out of place in this gloomy island. I pace around slowly, waiting for the others to arrive impatiently. They appear in the Earth Driller, running up from the ground.

"Wow. This clock is a mechanical masterpiece." Nya gaps at the clock.

"You're welcome to dismantle it once we stop it." Misako smiles.

"There's only a couple minutes left!" I yell, pointing at the clock.

"Everyone, look for the helmet's perch! It could be anywhere." Misako commands.

"You don't know how to return the helmet?" Sensei says, worried.

"It has a resting place somewhere." She replies. We quickly go and search the clock for the resting perch.

"Perhaps I found the perch!" Zane yells, but it didn't fit.

"Oh, what about here?" Jay yells, and Zane tosses him the helmet.

"Could this be the place?" Sensei yells, moving to catch the helmet, but Kozu pushes him away, catching the helmet in the process.

"No!" Kai yells.

"There's only thirty seconds left. I believe it's time to die-" Kozu smirks but a pole pushes the helmet away. "No!"

"Get the helmet!" Misako yells

"Right!" Cole starts climbing the clock, for the helmet, knocking down a Stone Warrior, he grabs the helmet but drops it.

"Ah! The helmet's perch!" Misako gasps.

"There's only ten seconds left!" Sensei yells.

"I'll get it." Misako starts running but a Warrior tries to stop her but Sensei kicks him.

"Hurry, Misako!" Sensei pleads.

"Okay!" She puts the helmet on the perch, and the clock stops.

"No!" Kozu yells.

"Ah! It worked!" Lloyd happily cheers, spinning me around happily.

"We did it!" Nya happily yells. Everyone cheers and the Stone Army growls angrily, but the clock starts again, blaring a loud horn.

"No." I cup a hand to my mouth. It started.

"The Horns of Destruction. We were too late." Misako gasps. The Stone Army closes in, and we try to fight, but we fell down a cliff. Nya screams as she's the only one up there.

"Nya!" Jay yells.

"Jay!" Nya screams.

"Sis!" Kai gasps. Kozu grabs Nya.

"Let her go!" Jay snaps.

"Or what? You will make a big splash?" He taunts.

"The ground!" Cole yells.

"No, no!" Jay yells as we fall down in the Endless Sea. We all get up out of the ocean, coughing out water.

"This is all my fault. I should've taken the shot." Lloyd sighs.

"We're all at fault, kid. It's just the way the cookie crumbled." Cole comforts.

"Ah! Are you still making jokes? They have Nya, and you're making jokes?" Jay angrily tackles him.

"It was just a poor choice of words!" Cole protests.

Just before Jay punches Cole, Sensei pipes up. "Enough! We have lost enough. We don't need to lose our focus." Sensei snaps.

"Forget focus. We have to get my sister." Kai commands.

"By the time we get back up there, they'll be gone. We will get your sister, but the clock has reached a zero and the Final Battle could start at any moment. We must head back to the Bounty to get prepared, so that next time, you will not hesitate." Misako says.

"Come on, Lloyd. Let's go home. You will get your chance." We walk dejectedly out of the beach.

So uh, hi? 3 more chapters left until the end and the next book!
