"My turn! Uh, it's my turn!" Jay yells as we trained together at the monastery. I pull on a blindfold. This is the day where I will complete this whole training course-blindfolded. I take a breath and put on the cloth. The machines start and I go.
"Oh, you want a little more? Take this!" Cole yells as I dodge a falling ax.
"Yeah? How about a little of this?" Jay yells and I can hear electricity buzzing.
"Monkey paw to the head!" Someone yells. I nearly get knocked off the training course. There are some unintelligible noises before Zane yells "Ninja go!" I step on what I think is dry ground but I slip and fall. I open my blindfold and see ice. Everywhere. Ouch.
'This roof isn't big enough for the five of us." Kai complains.
"Correction: This roof isn't big enough for him," Cole crosses his arms.
"It's like he's in his own world. I bet he can't even hear us!" Jay yells as Master Wu comes out.
"Sensei, Zane's... weird." Kai points out. I guess he is, every once in a while.
"What is weird? Someone who is different or someone who is different than you?" Wu speaks and we all look at each other.
"No, Sensei. He's weird-weird." Cole says making quotation marks when he says weird.
"We like the guy. He's really smart. He's just... a little off sometimes." Kai says and
"Zane is a brother and brothers are often different. I should know." Wu starts being a mysterious person and stares off into the distance. Well, we all know who you're talking about. A little bell sound interrupts me from my thoughts as an old mailman comes up.
"Mail!" Cole, Kai, and Jay yells, running towards the old postman.
"Let's see. A letter from Jay's parents. Kai has a fan letter. Oh, something from Cole's father." The postman fumbles with his bucket holding mail as he hands out mail to them.
"What? No package? I'm expecting something from Creatures, Beasts, and Beyond." Cole asks and the mailman looks deeper.
"No. Nothing from...uh-uh. Here it is!" The mailman hands Cole a package as he brushes off dust on his purple uniform.
"Ha! Rocky's gonna love this!" Cole cheers as he ran off to the dragon stables.
"Hey, Zane. How come you never hear anything from your parents?" Jay asks.
"I don't remember my parents. I've been an orphan all my life." Zane looks down at his feet.
"You mean you've never had a home?" Kai asks.
"The Monastery is your home now," Wu says, but Zane still sadly walks away.
It was much later, as it was Zan's turn to cook tonight, we were all waiting in our seats, anticipating the meal ahead.
"Hmm. Oh, I love it when it's Zane's night to cook." Jay excitedly said, bouncing at the dinner table.
"Hey! I didn't hear any complaints about my duck chowder last night." Cole retorts, offended by Jay's comment.
"That's because it glued our mouths shut. You really thought Jay was speechless all throughout dinner?" Kai laughs.
"Yeah. Please don't make that again." Jay begs.
"Yeah, please don't. It took me forever to get my mouth unstuck." I say in a matter-of-fact tone as Zane comes out wearing a pink apron.
"Dinner is served," Zane says, setting down the turkey on the table. Suddenly everyone starts laughing as Zane look on confusingly. "What's so funny?" He asks.
"Zane. You're wearing a... Even I wouldn't wear that." Nya bursts in heaps of laughter after that.
"You laugh because I take steps to ensure I'm clean after cooking?" Zane asks. I grin a little as Kai starts laughing harder.
"Haha! No! We laugh because you came out wearing that ridiculous outfit!" He cries.
"I guess we don't share the same sense of humor," Zane says dejectedly.
"Well, how about this?" Cole yells, slamming a plate of food on Kai's face. We all laugh but Zane just stands there, confused.
"How could you not find that funny?" Cole asks as Master Wu pours soup onto Cole's head. "Ah!" He yells as hot liquid pours down his face.
"Now you are brothers," Wu spoke as we all start a food fight. I hid under the table as Jay ducked in. I throw a plate of cake and he quickly runs out, screaming: "NOWHERE IS SAFE!" I took some plates of food from the table and prepared to fire at any unsuspecting person. I throw some shrimp at the back of Cole's head and then poured some soup on Master Wu. They should know, I am the reigning champion of any food fight. When Nya goes to pick some food up, I intercept it and throw it at her. Before we know it, we had all used up the food and were on the floor, dirty from the amount of food.
"Let's take a shower," Nya suggests as we all tiredly get up.
"Right behind ya sis." Kai groans and we all trudged into bathrooms to clean up. When I finish showering, I walk in my room and flop onto the bed. It's not long before I fall into a deep slumber.
I wake in a dark place. Fog is swirling all around me. I shiver and make my way forward, towards the light. It flickers out, and I am left in the dust.
"You could have been the greatest villain of all time Kaylee. Why did you leave us?" No. Not this dream. Anything but this dream. I run to a door, only to have it disappear. An illusion.
"You had the power. We could have taught you things more than what Wu taught you. You could have lived up to the family legacy. You are supposed to come to us. Your parents. The fear-bringers. Come to us, Kaylee. Come to us." I frantically run around, trying for any way out.
"No! I won't! I won't! I won't! Stop bothering me!" I yell and the darkness envelops me, pulling tighter and tighter until the voice makes one more appearance.
"Have it your way then" It spat and I fell into an endless abyss of darkness.
I jolt out of bed, in a blanket burrito and I fall to the floor. The sun was slowly rising, and pink and orange colors were pooling in the room, bathing it in a warm light. I took a deep breath. It wasn't every day I had that dream but it always happened out in the open, when I wasn't suspecting it. But after it, something bad always happened. No one knew. It was those kinds of dreams where you just wake up with a jolt and then stare up at the ceiling or something but can't go to sleep because you're just to freaked out. I realize that last night, in my tired state, I had accidentally put on street clothes instead of pajamas in which my case was some black leggings under a black sweater shirt-dress with some ankle-length socks.
(in this fanfic, people are actually real people, not LEGOs)
I shuffle like a worm around my room until I got to the carpet where I made my nest. Curling up into a ball, I laid there for only the First Spinjitzu Master knows how long before someone opens my door.
"Kaylee?" Zane asks, clad in full ninja gear. He pokes his head in my room, scanning around for me until his eyes fell on me, the human burrito. He grins, and then walks in my room and crouches down to my level. "I guess the human burrito strikes again huh?"
"Yup," I say, and roll-out of my position. "What's up?" I ask.
"Me, Jay, Kai, and Cole are going on a mission," Zane says and I jump up.
"Without me? Why?" I ask and Zane looks at me with a You know why type of look.
"Because you ignored a simple command. Technically, this is your punishment." Zane says and I groan.
"At least I have Nya," I say and stand up and follow Zane out my room, not before throwing on a pair of Converses. When I arrive, I see everyone in their respective clothing, Ninja gi's. Nya was wearing her traditional red dress, completed with a gold bracelet with a red button, maybe ruby in the middle. The ninja were all on their dragons, waiting to go. Zane quickly mounts his dragon, Shard.
"Okay, let's go," Cole says and they all fly away.
"Okay then," I say, shrugging my arms. "What should we do?" Nya looks at Sensei Wu for directions but he looks off in the distance.
"Train. You'll need it. Use your elemental power too" Sensei Wu walks back in the monastery, leaving me and Nya to our own devices. I pull out targets designed to never get destroyed.
"What are we supposed to do though?" I ask no one in particular as I gather up silver energy. Apparently, that's what good and evil energy combined is. Basically the "Silver Lining" of almost everything. I fire it at the target and it combusts as it reaches the target. (Imagine her powers like Wanda Maximoff's.)
(Like this)
(Imagine this but silver)
"I'm not sure," Nya said, kicking down a dummy on the training course. "There isn't anywhere to go."
"The boys always get to go on missions. I mean, I'm pretty sure that they don't follow simple commands on a battlefield." I complain and shoot another big ball of energy. It explodes in a flurry of silver fog and when it clears, I can see that the targets were obliterated. Wait, I thought that they were indestructible!
"Is it just me, or did you just destroy every single one of the supposedly indestructible targets?" Nya asks and I cup my hand to my mouth.
"I think I just did." I timidly say as I rush to the broken targets. "Ohh, Master Wu's gonna be so angry at me!" I pick up a piece.
"If you can destroy stuff, can't you fix it.? Isn't your elemental powers Choas and Order?" Nya points out and I brighten up. Maybe I won't get in trouble!
"Thanks, Nya! Now I know what to do! Thank you so so much!' I cheer and pick up more pieces using my "magic".
"No problem. After all, what are friends for?" Nya says and I concentrate on the target, in its whole state. They start fixing themselves and soon, the targets are as good as new.
"Oh thank the First Spinjitzu Master." I sigh in relief as I sit down on the ground, exhausted. "Please don't tell anyone Nya, unless it's a life or death situation." I inhale a large amount of air.
"Of course not! Your secret is safe with me." Nya assures me as Sensei Wu runs out with a panicked expression on his face. Maybe he did see the destroyed targets.
"Nya, come with me. The Ninja are in danger!" He says as him and Nya rushes towards the dragon stables.
"Wait! What about me?!?" I ask, racing down to catch up to them but they had already taken off, leaving me behind yet again. I walk around for a little bit until I heard voices.
"Get the sssstaff!" Snakes! I rush out to intercept them.
"Not so fast you slithering idiots!" I cry as I throw a ball of energy at one of them. They fall back and I prepare to try to do some mind games. I could use my mother's ability because technically it's part Choas magic along with illusions. I gather a bit of energy in my palm as I throw down a bolt of energy. Immediately, thousands of snakes fall to the ground screaming. I smirk and quickly grab the scepter, ready to make my move until someone stuck something on my forehead. I gasp, it felt like thousands of worms had found my way into my brain, and were starting to eat it's way through. I slowly put up my hand and grab the thing on my forehead. Bad decision. I sway a bit and then fell down into a peaceful darkness.
3rd Person POV
The ninja raced home to the monastery, the prospect of the staff being stolen and Kaylee possibly in danger spurred them on. It wasn't like Kaylee couldn't protect herself, but they loved her to death and couldn't bear if anything happened to her. As they arrived, the smell of smoke filled the air and soon they saw the monastery up in flames. They all jumped off and Shard, Zane's dragon put out the fire. They looked for her but to no avail, Kaylee was gone.
"We're too late. Those snakes." Kai spat.
"Rocky!" Cole cried as he let out the dragons. They all flew away, glad to be free to the smoke.
"Our home," Nya said sadly.
"The training equipment and Kaylee, gone." Zane looked down at the ground.
"Our video games, gone," Jay said then whispered. "And Kaylee too"
"They stole their staff back," Wu spoke.
"What do we do now?" Cole asked the already distressed Sensei. Although Wu wouldn't say it out loud, he loved Kaylee like his own. Something about her being with him for almost all of her life made him feel like she was his daughter.
"If you hadn't followed that silly bird, none of this would've happened!" Kai's sorrow quickly turned into anger as the hot-headed ninja rounded on his brother.
"Kai!" Wu scolded.
"No! Sensei, he's right! Because of you, my high score has been deleted!" Jay yelled. He didn't dare mention Kaylee lest he burst in tears.
"This is a teaching moment. We must learn from this." Zane spoke quietly, trying to wish it all away.
"A teaching moment? What's wrong with you? Don't you get it? Everything is gone! Kaylee is gone!" Cole pointed accusingly at Zane.
"Enough! We're all at fault. Zane is your brother. Apologize at once." Wu pointed his staff at the 3 distressed ninja. They realized that they had been mistaken and quickly turn to Zane to apologize.
"I'm sorry, Zane. I..." Kai started but Zane was gone, his dragon flying on the horizon.
"Zane?" The lighting ninja timidly whispered.
As the 3 ninja, Nya and Wu made camp in the mountains of impossible height, their spirits were down.
"Wh-what are we eating again?" Kai asked exhausted. They had hiked for who knows how long and they were finally resting.
"Mud newt. Not bad for something that lives underground." Cole said, trying to lift everyone's spirits.
"What?" Jay spat out the chunk of meat he was eating, he then threw in a rock he found in a tin. "A new high sco-score!" He meekly spoke, after flopping down on the sand.
"Remember, we must be thankful for what we still have." Wu tried to turn it in a teaching moment but the atmosphere was too distressed at the moment.
"What do we have? Our home is gone." Cole spoke, throwing his stick to the ground.
"You know, I don't miss our home. What I really miss is Zane and Kaylee." Kai said, regretting his choice of words to the White Ninja earlier in the day.
"Yeah. I miss them." Jay looked forlornly into the distance as if he expected them to come out of their hiding spot.
"Zane?" Nya spoke, looking into the distance.
"Yeah, Zane. You know. White Ninja. The smart, strange one." Jay sarcastically said, waving his hands around in the air.
"No. Zane!" Nya yelled, pointing at the White Ninja who was walking up to them.
"Zane!" They all yelled as they ran towards him.
"Zane. We're so sorry for everything we've said. We're a team and that means we're responsible." Jay was the first one there and immediately apologized lest he leave again.
"You don't need to apologize to me," Zane said, having already forgiven them.
"Kai: But what about all those awful things we said? Isn't that why you left?" Kai asked, confused.
"Of course not. I saw the Falcon again and I followed him." Zane spoke as if it was the most normal thing in the world to follow a bird,
"That's our Zane." Cole happily threw an arm around him.
"We're happy to have you back." Nya hugged Zane.
"Why? Is it my turn to make dinner?" Zane asked.
Wu laughed. "Yes, Zane. We would love for you to make dinner."
"But I already made it. Come. I want to show you what I've found. I think you will all be pleased." Zane spoke, leading the team to the Destiny's Bounty, the ship he found. "I can't explain it, but I feel a strange connection with the Falcon. I think he's trying to help show us the path we need to take." Zane turned to the Bounty, inviting them inside. "Our new home."
Jay sniffed the air. "Do I smell pie?"
" Cobbler berry. Oh, and I made myrtle berry and apple and—" Zane continued on but was interrupted by Kai, Jay, Cole, and Nya running happily towards the Bounty,
"I'm proud of you, Zane. One day, I promise. We will find your family." Wu put a hand on Zane's shoulder.
"But I've already found them," Zane said.
"I feel there's more to you than meets the eye. There's something special about you, Zane." Wu stared at the Bounty, debating whenever to talk more or eat. He decided on the latter.
"Sensei, will I become the Green Ninja?" Zane looked at his white gi, imagining it green.
"It's too early to tell, but if it's in your path, you'll know. Come now. It would be a shame to let them eat all that pie." Wu spoke, leading Zane to the Bounty. As the team laughed and started another food fight, little did they know that Lloyd and Kaylee were just a sandhill away, looking at the happy ninja.
"You can go to them right now. I won't stop you." Lloyd spoke, letting go of her hand. The truth was, is that he felt a connection with Kaylee. Like, they had met before and were really good friends. Little did he know that Kaylee felt the same way. Even though she was younger by a month than him, she still felt a need to be by his side to protect him.
"No thanks, I'd rather stay with my best friend." Kaylee smiled at Lloyd, who was excited nonetheless about having a best friend, but dubious since she was a girl.
"Okay then, I thought we should release the Fangprye since it's the closest from us." Lloyd decided, standing up and helping Kaylee up.
"Okay then. Whatever you say bestie." Kaylee smiled, then said. "I'm with you till' the end of the line." The two best friends linked hands and then set off into the distance.
I think that was an action-packed chapter. Just saying, that it might take me a long time to do these chapters because I am a lazy person. Thanks for reading!
