Preparing for War (Day 5)

As the day of the Civil War Exercise nears closer, more and more students grew nervous, especially those in the hero course. Some were going over their plans and modifying them, now that they know who they are fighting against, while others are picking up their support gear that they requested from the support department.

However, Shota Aizawa was excited to see how this year is going to turn out. Especially since he gets to see how well thirty-nine students go against three who were forced to train in different specialties and fight against pros like they were amateurs. He can respect Silence especially, while he can sympathize with the survivors, he does admire their fighting style.

"So, you're planning to break into the exercise field later today?" Aizawa asked Silence with a hint of amusement in his voice.

Right now, Silence and his siblings have met with him and Eri at his personal sleeping quarters before they go to the city by themselves.

"Correct. While we might be the 'villains' in this exercise, it's just the three of us. We'll 'need' any advantage that we can get," Silence explained as he looked towards his siblings and Eri.

"While I want to call bullshit on the part where you said that you guys need any advantage you can get, I also know that I can't stop you three. Are all of you prepared for the war?" Aizawa asked.

"Yeah. I prepared a couple of small crates of bullets with fake blood, for both guns and sniper rifles, and a couple of fake blood grenades. Also some real explosions, but we'll warn you ahead of time when we're going to use it," Silence explained.

"Well, at least you're prepared, though I'm curious about how you're going to bring it to the city. Let alone break-in," said Aizawa as he walked towards the rest of the group, with Silence close beside him.

"Mecha can use her quirk on one of the buses that will lead towards the city, and from there, it won't be hard to enter," Silence offhandedly explained.

"Figured."

"Hey everyone, how are you doing?" Silence asked once he was close to everyone remaining in the group.

"Hey Shush Shush," Eri greeted back with a smile.

"Hey Silence, hey sensei. We're doing fine," Mecha responded.

"So you know what we're planning?" Carrion asked Aizawa.

"Yeah, Silence gave me a rundown of it. I'll wish you guys good luck, but I'm sure you won't need it," Aizawa responded.

While Carrion and Aizawa were talking, Eri stood up from the sofa where she and Mecha were chatting, and ran towards Silence and hugged him tightly. Silence made a smile under his mask and gently lifted her up in his arms.

"Hey Snowflake, are you doing alright?" Silence asked.

"I'm doing okay, Shush Shush. I missed you guys," Eri responded, and hugged him as tight as she could, even if her arms couldn't wrap around his torso.

"I missed you too. Sadly we won't be able to visit you for a week or so," said Silence, giving her a bit of a sympathetic look.

"How come?" Eri asked as she started to pout a bit.

"They are going to participate in a school exercise with some of the students," Aizawa explained.

"Oh? So they will be around the school?" Eri asked.

"When it's possible for us, we might call you," Carrion responded as he let out an amused chuckle.

"And that's why we came here to spend time with both you and Aizawa sensei," Mecha explained with a smile.

And so, for the rest of that morning, the five spend their time together, making Eri smile and talk with her about anything that comes to mind. Until it was midday and the survivors had to make their final preparations before they went, so they said goodbye and went to their sleeping quarters.

"Alright guys," Mecha started, "we're going through our list of necessities and then we go to the bus."

"I don't need anything to bring, so I'll see you guys by the bus," said Carrion as he left the room, by which Silence only shook his head with a smile under his mask.

"I'll carry some tools in my body, you'll never know what you'll need them for," said Mecha.

"Good idea. I'll prepare my stuff and go over the crates with the ammunition," said Silence as he went to his room.

'Alright, let's go over the list... two guns, check. My sniper rifle, check. A crate with fake blood ammunition for both types of guns, check. A medium crate with the explosions, check. A small crate of fake blood grenades, check. Six fake knives, che-, well... I'll be damned,' Silence thought as he went through all the items that he was going to take with him until he found something very important to him.

He found a green combat knife, made of a material almost identical to rubber with worn-out text on the blade.

'Man... that brings back memories...' Silence thought to himself as a melancholic smile formed under his mask.

"Hey Silence, should I grab the wings too?" Mecha asked as she walked into Silense's room, but quickly noticed something in his hands, "What you got there?"

"Something with a lot of memories to me," Silence responded as she showed her the green battle knife.

"Isn't that a knife that could kill... you know who?" Mecha asked.

"Yeah, my sensei," Silence said.

"Are you going to use it for the war?" Mecha asked curiously.

Silence was silently chuckling and nodded, "I'm the way that I am thanks to my sensei, so I think if I'm going to war as an assassin, then this is at least the best way I could honor him."

Mecha smiled at this, knowing how much he meant to Silence.

"Well, are you mostly ready?" Mecha eventually asked.

"In my room, I got everything in the crates over there and the weapon on me. As for the wings that you asked for, I'm planning to use them, along with the cloak," Silence answered.

"Got it, I'll dismount them from the wall, while you can get the trolly for transporting those crates," said Mecha as she left the room.

Silence looked down at his battle dagger with determination in his eyes, 'I know that you're out there somewhere, Sensei. I know for a bloody fact that you can't be killed that easily, though it did hurt how you left us behind the way you did. But I'm sure that you're out there somewhere doing what you always wanted to do before you were captured. Teaching students who are down on their luck, just like me. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to look for you, though. Once I'm more recovered with my friends, I'm going to look for you.'

"Alright, that should be the last crate," Silence said as he loaded the crate into the back of the bus.

"You sure got a lot of stuff, Silence. You really are taking this seriously, aren't you?" Carrion commented.

"We are going to war, Carrion. It may be an exercise, and where we're doing it may be a controlled area, but the teachers are expecting the students to give it their all as if it was an actual war. So we give them a reason to take this as a serious war," Silence started to explain, "Each one of us has been through hell and tortured us to turn us into weapons, and for the most part, they succeeded. But we survived what they put us through, and we even escaped from that hellhole. All that's left of that place is us. Three super soldiers. We have the knowledge of how dark the world can be. They do not. It's up to us to show them."

"It's dangerous for them to grow up without experiencing true competition. Because they'll keep whining, even without taking the matter seriously. For those with a high level of aptitude... The sooner they know the frustration of defeat, the greater their growth will be. That's what my sensei once said. So while we won't kill them, I'm looking at you Carrion, we'll go in as if it was real. I'll go in as for what I'm created for, so will Mecha and her abilities, and so will you, Carrion. You can, and probably will scar them with your transformation. Mecha will probably scare a lot of them too, with either her normal body or something she'll possess. But for the first time in a long time, we can let go of our emotions and go, almost, all out on them so that they will learn to take this seriously.

"Alright, you can come up with good motivational speeches for us. But do you have a plan for this war?" Carrion asked, showing a large grin on his face.

"Knowing him, he has a couple of plans," Mecha joked as she sat down on the driver's side chair and put on the belt.

"Oh, I do. After all, backup plans are the cornerstone of confidence," Silence responded, causing Carrion to laugh.

"Oh, now I'm excited to hear what you came up with," Carrion said.

"Alright everyone, let's go to this city and prepare ourselves for war!" Mecha announced as she used her quirk to take control of the bus and started driving to their destination.

"So they really are going to break into the city early," Thirteen commented as she saw the three kids get into the bus with supplies and drove away.

"Yes indeed. I was surprised at the beginning when Silence told me that he wanted to do this, but I shouldn't be. He's taking every advantage he can get, even if he doesn't need it," Shota commented.

"I agree with you, Shota. However, this is more the result of the training he went through. Remember, he was trained as an Assassin. While those may be rare in this day and age, those who do have almost all of their objectives a confirmed kill. Silence even pointed out how little protection most heroes use for their costumes. That's also part of the reason he could so easily kill those heroes in his introduction video," Hound Dog commented.

"I agree. Like Miruko, she might have ridiculously high pain tolerance, if you shoot someone in the head, it's almost always a guaranteed kill," Midnight said.

"While that's true, it ain't much comin' from ya, Midnight," Snipe commented, which caused a fair amount of the staff to chuckle.

"So, how seriously do you think they are going to take this? Power Loader asked.

"Who? The students or those three?" Vlad King asked.

"I guess both. Your students are going against them, after all," Power Loader responded.

"Ah' don't know about ya two," Snipe said to both Eraserhead and Vlad King, "But Silence is gonna treat this as a real fight."

"How can you tell?" Thirteen asked curiously.

"In ta footage, ah noticed that he had somethin' very dear to 'im," said Snipe, pointing towards the screen.

"Ah, so you saw it too," Hound Dog said.

"Hard not to with the color it has," Snipe responded.

"What are both of you talking about?" Present Mic eventually asked.

"Look at the footage," said Hound Dog as he rewinds the video to the point where everyone was putting the crates into the bus, "Do you guys see what Silence has strapped on his leg?"

"It looks like a sheath with a knife in it. But why is the hilt green?" Midnight said.

"While this is patient and therapist confidentiality, I can tell you a bit about that knife and how Snipe and I know he's going to take this seriously," Hound Dog started, "Over the two years that these three kids have been here, only has at least some positive memories from the place they were rescued from."

"And for a good reason too. Ya see, Silence had multiple 'teachers' to 'teach' different subjects. Biology, ta know where it's most effective way ta kill someone, from the inside or outside their bodies, math, to calculate the trajectory for a bullet to shoot from, etcetera, etcetera. Ya get the idea," Snipe explained.

Now, this got almost everyone nervous because they remember that Silence and his friend have been stuck in that facility for at least ten years. And if Silence was taught the 'basics' this way. They don't want to know what the other two went through.

"But for Silence, there was one teacher that he holds very dear, and not for negative reasons, such as Stockholm syndrome. From what he told me, he was the main teacher to teach him assassination and other subjects too. He described his teaching as similar to how we teach our students, but kinder and caring," Hound Dog continued.

"So he was like any normal teacher but taught a very morbid subject as if it was any other subject, alright. But what does this have to do with that knife?" Thirteen asked curiously.

"From what ta told us, 'is teacher was also bioengineered that escaped and completely annihilated his place o' origin. Similar to Carrion, but a lot deadlier," Snipe responded.

"However, this same facility where these three came from had somehow captured him and developed weapons that could only kill him, but was essentially impossible to hit him, according to Silence," Said Hound Dog.

"So that knife..." Nemuri started.

"Is probably the only remaining thing that he has that reminds him of his teacher. So him having it on him means that he's going all out and honoring him," Inui finishes.

"I see..." said Aizawa as he looked back at the screen, as it switched back to the live feed and saw them arriving at the outer walls of the fake city.

"Now back to the original question, how do you think your students are going to do against them?" Power loader once again.

Kan stayed quiet, not sure how this will go for his students. But for Aizawa, he lets out a sigh and gave a tired smile.

"You know, speaking about Silence's teacher, a while ago he told me something interesting that he picked up from him. 'To a young person for whom everything comes easily, the pain of defeat can be a much-needed wake-up call'. My students fought against the LoV multiple times and won almost every time they fought them. Although this may sound cruel, I hope that they lose against them so that they can learn that there is always someone more dangerous out there," Aizawa explained.

-= With Bakugo, through the halls of UA, Afternoon =-

We see Bakugo walking through the different halls of UA with a focused look in his eyes. Today has been a long day for him because of one thing. Who he saw in the introduction video.

The entire time today he had the green-haired kid, who he was sure was his childhood friend that disappeared so long ago, stuck on his mind. He saw in the footage what he could do and it terrified him.

'What has he gone through to turn out the way he did?' Bakugo asked himself.

However, he was walking through the halls now, because he had to talk to someone important, Principal Nedzu. He has a lot of questions and he was going to get answers from him.

He eventually arrived at his destination, the Principal's Office. While he might not admit it to anyone, he's nervous to meet the rodents that's the principal. Almost everyone is so nothing new there.

Bakugo took a couple of deep breaths and resigned himself to knocking on the principal's door.

"Come in!" Nedzu called.

Bakugo opens the door and closes it behind him as he enters the office.

"Why hello, Bakugo. What can I do for you?" Nedzu asked with his happy tone.

"Principal Nedzu, we have to talk."

"Scream all you want, I fear that you can't do anything. After all, all you can do is blame your quirk."
