Chapter 12
Athena went to her room with a disturbed mind. She was thinking about what Helena had said. She had been thinking about it even after she went to bed. She didn't want any of this, but now, she had to shoulder everything own her own. It made her anxious. While Athena was deep in thought, the door opened silently, Mikhail entered the room. Athena, turned around to face Mikhail.
Athena's body didn't tremble anymore, she expressed herself;
"Why are you here at this time?"
It didn't mean Athena wasn't scared of this man standing in front of her, she just chose not to expose her fear in front of his smiling face.
"It's late. Of course, I need to sleep, my dear."
Mikhail remarked.
Athena was quite taken aback hearing his words. It had been a few weeks since she was staying in the Cassius mansion. But he never shared a bed with Athena. Athena didn't want to do it either. This was the only matter that both Mikhail and Athena thought the same way.
But what's going on now? Why was he at her room holding on to his pillows and a blanket, looking like a lost puppy.
"You... just sleep where you slept yesterday."
Athena commented while hiding her emotions.
"Aw, you can't send me away my dear, you know it too, my parents are here."
Athena comprehended the situation. she knew, any more talking wouldn't change Mikhail's decision. So, she just had to play along with it.
"Fine. you can sleep on the bed, I will sleep on the floor."
It seemed that Mikhail came out of the shower just now, water droplets still clinging on to his hair strands. He looked different with his hair down; but still handsome. It was Athena's first-time seeing Mikhail in his nightwear, a black-velvet robe which exposed his chest.
"What? Are you afraid that I will do something to you, my wife?"
Mikhail asked Athena in a laid-back manner. His eyes, swept over her, like a page he had read already.
Athena, intimidated by his words, gulped.
"No worries, as long as you don't take the initiative, I won't to do anything to you. You can rest assured, my wife. So, sleep with me in bed."
Mikhail smirked as if he was implying something.
Athena was petrified. What did he think she would do to him? Athena didn't understand what's wrong with him for thinking like that. She didn't have the guts to disobey Mikhail's order by sleeping on the floor. Athena, without delay, took her pillows, placed them vertically on the bed to separate their personal spaces.
Athena laid down on the bed, not facing Mikhail. Mikhail, with a devious smile, switched off the lights, laid down. She was tired from doing housework; she succumbed to sleep at once she laid down. It was as if she didn't have the energy to think about anything stressful anymore.
The sun-rays lighted the room. The gleam of light forced Athena to awoke from her slumber. She felt light, but she felt something on her, that was heavy. Abruptly, she remembered that Mikhail was sleeping with her. She gazed at him; he was sleeping soundly like a baby, his hand on her stomach, his leg on her legs. She was surprised, slowly moved his hand away from her.
"Why are you up so early?"
A deep, husky murmur sounded throughout the room; his spellbinding azure gaze locked onto her. His messy bed hair, his enchanting voice, his eyes; everything, carried a kind of charm. Athena kept staring at him instinctively.
"Am I that handsome, my wife? You've been staring at me for the past five minutes."
Athena became aware of her own actions, with embarrassment, she blushed.
"Good morning, darling."
Mikhail uttered with a warm smile on his face. Athena didn't know how to respond; so, she just nodded.
"Did you sleep well?"
Mikhail asked while he was still looking sleepy.
"Yeah..."
Athena replied.
Athena quickly left the room, leaving him alone in the room. Her heart trying to jump out of her chest. Her face was red, her eyes wanted to gaze at him more, but her brain was against it. She left the room with an emotion she never wanted to have for him, flowering inside her.
