As the grand doors of the lavish ballroom swung open, all eyes turned to see the man who showered in the glow of luxury light, Mikhail Cassius, the infamous president of the 'Infernotech' strode forward with an impossibly imposing aura. Before his azure eyes, others could only stay without uttering a word. Dressed spotlessly in a tailored suit, his well-groomed blond hair, adorned his heavenly figure.

Mikhail  smirked as a man in his 50s approached him. His long, elegant eyelashes glimmered like shimmering stars as he fixed his gaze on the trembling man before him, hands  quivering with fear.

"It's been a while, Jacob Everhart."

Mikhail's eyes beaming in amusement as he stared into the other man's eyes, the corners of his mouth curling to a grin that illuminated his celestial-looking face. His gaze pierced through the man's soul, a silent declaration of undeniable authority, daring him to look away. With a sly smile, he leaned closer, his voice dripping with mockery.

"You seemed so distressed when my elder brother, Nathan, died right before his wedding to your daughter. Why show up now, only weeks after his death, as if nothing happened?"

Mikhail locked eyes with the man standing across from him, his foxy eyes burning intensely, as if he was ready to kill the prey in front of him at any time. The other party was on the verge of tears as he slightly opened his mouth, while trembling in terror.

"Please, I'm begging you,...it was all my fault so please leave my daughter out of this."

Mikhail wore a smile that hinted at hidden dangers, it was both unsettling and enigmatic, making others feel simultaneously captivating and terror. His eyes narrowing as he spoke,

"He never cared for conflict. But your daughter or should i say your clever little set  up took his life. For her selfish interests, he had made quite a lot of enemies."

Mikhail gazed at Jacob like an unyielding serpent, his stare coiling tightly around Jacob's body with no intention to loosen up. The air lingered in silence, Jacob's own heart beat, along with the trickling sweat on his temples, made his legs feel weak.

Mikhail's azure eyes were  blazing when he talked about his brother. It was like he would lose control any time.

"Please,  i am willing to do anything, but marrying my daughter to you...no way...there's no way she would be safe with you."

Fear screamed in the eyes of Jacob Everhart when he saw the ominously bright eyes of Mikhail that had already locked on to him.

"According to the contract, Nathan should be the groom...so you can't—"

A robust voice didn't let Jacob complete what he was saying.

"You are wrong, the contract was made by me."

Mikhail's voice  rumbled, the air crackled with a compelling dominance commanding an undeniable authority with only silence screaming. Jacob Everhart shivered in fear as he witnessed the formidable being in front of him raised his voice. He wanted to die than stay there in front of him like a dead man with no words to say. But still, Jacob couldn't shut his mouth, even at the expense of his life, he wanted to save his daughter from Mikhail, a demon who would ruin her in every way he can.

"The contract hadn't specified Nathan's name."

Mikhail's voice thundered. His lips curled into an icy line that would freeze anything with his words alone.

"Nathan fell head over heels for your daughter", his eyes alight with rage as he spoke. "He was ready to give away all his property  as per your deal for marrying her. Seeing him act so foolishly, I stepped in, despite his displeasure."

The words from the infamously cruel, Mikhail Cassius, made Jacob sweat. It was clear from Jacob's face that he wasn't expecting anything like this. He never wanted Nathan to die for sure since he knew that Nathan's younger brother was a ruthless jerk. It took a lot of courage to even part his lips in front of Mikhail to speak. That much he feared Mikhail. But it was for his dear daughter, so he had no other way, than to talk calming down himself.

" But i checked the —"

Mikhail glared at him,

"I'm not killing you right now because I want you to witness your daughter's suffering . So, don't push your luck—it's the only thing keeping you alive."

Mikhail walked away snickered at the face of Jacob. His actions, his gaze, everything about Mikhail revealed his influence and formidability. With calculative moves, both in his personal and professional life, he stood at the top of the food chain like an untamed beast with razor-sharp claws, one that would never be defeated.

Jacob stood there petrified for a few minutes boring a panicked face. People around him had been whispering for quite a while after Mikhail left .He felt like he was nearing to his doom. The weight on his shoulders were exhausting as he felt the lingering silent threat that kept whispered in his ears.

His worried expression quickly turned anxious. He turned back to look for the man who had made him beg in public, but he was no longer there. Even if he had been there, Jacob never would have had the guts to talk to him again. All he wanted was to escape from the clutches of this devil who savored in the suffering of others.
