Yelena Delverin
I knew this would happen one day. The day I tread. But at the same time, I don't feel afraid. After all, it is about Emma. More like was. And in front of me stood the man. His hair turning grey indicating his age and experience; how eloquent he is. The dim light making each wrinkle of his face stand out. I stood at the doorframe, falling into oblivion with each passing second.
"Finally, you came. It was so hard to get a hold of you." Detective Richard exhaled when I entered the room. "So sorry for that. But I guess your hard work has been wasted." I said as calmly as humanly possible. I took the seat in front of him. This time more confident and aware of my surroundings.
"You don't have any evidence against me, do you?" I continued. "No. But I hope you would co-operate." Richard replied. His smile which didn't quite reach his eyes. "Okey. What do you want to know?" I replied avoiding his now stern gaze. "What relation did you have with Emma?" His voice stoic.
"She was my best friend." I said closing my eyes. I don't want to think about her. Her innocent face. She was just a girl who wanted to live. Not survive, live. She enjoyed every moment of her life. One of the strongest Person I've ever seen. One mistake. One mistake all it took to take her away from me. From everyone. "Then you must know we believe what happened to her was no accident." Richard told burning a hole in my eyes.
"Of course, I know that." My eyes shot open. Even the dim light disturbing my eyes.
"Who do you think would have done that to her? We heard that just few days ago the incident you have a fight with her. So, you had a motive to do that. Didn't you?" Richard leaned forward. He wore his stoic expression as a wall between my rage and him. I was at a loss of words. Even in some another universe I could have never done that to her. The only person who ever truly understood me after my mother.
My curled fist caused his expression to shift to that of concern. But that concern faded away in the blink of an eye. Then there he sat wearing the same expression as before. Just then I realized his didn't mean to frame that sentence like a fact. It made me sure of his vagueness. "I think that is it. Bring more evidence next time and you might get a to say few more words." I spat out getting up.
"Listen Richard. Maybe you are just wasting your time on me. I, out of all people have always believed that it was no suicide. I am 110% sure that it was a murder and that the murderer is waltzing around. So, I hope you could broaden your sight and open your eyes to see who actually killed Emma." I continued with absolute disgust. His had crossed the borderline with thinking me as the killer. So, I had no reason to be polite. "I am the detective here. Don't teach me things you can't solve." Richard retorted.
"Dowhatever you want to. But know that you are not as wise as you think you are.And just so you know, I am not the antagonist you're looking for." With that Iwalked out of the room. "Then tell me who is." Behind her his voice echoed. But that was not her concern.
