Days bled into weeks before he met someone else after that interaction. He went to his girlfriend with full intention of ending everything.
"I am really tired of this situationship." She commented making herself comfortable on the couch. "So am I. Let's... "he trailed off.
How could he bring himself to state that? How could he make her understand that the problem does not lie within her but rather in him himself?
"Let's what?" she shook him from oblivion. She was more anxious than him. She had hopes that he would say "let's make it official." But her delusion was shattered when he spoke again.
"Let's part our ways." He finally spoke. The amount of courage was astronomical and only he could understand what it did to him. "What do you mean?" she was filled with aghast. "Have you lost your sanity?" She asked. Her breath hitching.
Suddenly his mouth felt dry, unable to produce an appropriate answer. As if invisible hand made their way to his throat, throttling him.
"Look, I know...but I cannot. It doesn't mean that something is wrong with you. Because no. you are perfect. I am not." It killed him to confront her. He held her as if his life depended on it. Maybe it did. He was just to clouded to see it.
The worse were the parameters society had for love. Can it only be measured when they are in a relation? Maybe for them, but not for him. For him it is a feeling, not to be measured. But maybe there is no point in arguing about it with the society. They would only consider him as a certified lunatic for suggesting it.
In retrospect, he assumed, love was not tainted by the extreme hunger of sleeping together.
They were both famish. This much was true whether one wanted to acknowledge it or not. But at the same time maybe they all are.
She could give it any shape she wanted. But it will not change the fact that it was nothing more than infatuation, worse: lust.
With a heavy heart, he started walking down the streets. She was his salvation. Being afraid of losing her he forgot how to even be with her. The amount of courage it took him to state that was astronomical and only he could understand that.
