Chapter 6
As Caboose was getting the tank, Church and Tucker continued to hide behind the large boulder from the incoming bullets that were continuously fired at them (with (Name) now being there since all she had to do was climb up from the other side since there was no slope to walk up on).
"Well, we'll just have to wait here. That thing's gotta run out of bullets sometime," Church says to Tucker and (Name) (whom he didn't notice arrived a little later then they did and thought that he was with them the whole time) as they all began to wait it out.
One hour later...
"My God, doesn't that thing ever run out of bullets?" Church asks, slightly shocked yet amazed by the amount of ammunition that the Red Team has as Tucker looks at him.
"You know, in hindsight, we should have brought the tank," he points out.
This made Church look back at Tucker with a small glare. "Hey Tucker, what good is a tank gonna do us if nobody here knows how to drive it?"
"Again, we still haven't asked if (Last Name) could do it. And yeah, I can see how hiding behind a rock is a much better idea," Tucker retorts.
"Well, yeah, but..." Church stutters, not really sure on how to respond to that response as he sighs in slight defeat. "Aw man, I guess I gotta give that one to ya'."
"Damn right you should. Now, after this is all over and we head back to base where the others are, maybe you could ask (Last Name) if they know how to drive the tank? That way we can get this whole thing over with."
"Wait a minute, why me?"
"Because you're the "leader" that's why. Plus, I'm not asking you to do it right now, since (Last Name) is back at the base with Caboose, and we're in the middle of trying to not get shot at by a large gun."
"No he's not. (Last Name)'s right behind you."
"He is?" Tucker questions, looking back behind him before jumping in shock after seeing that the mentioned midnight blue-armored soldier was indeed crouching behind the large rock like they were. "JESUS! Dude, when the fuck did you get here!? And why aren't you at the base with Caboose!?"
"About that, I kinda brought him with me to go get the red guy after you had jumped into the teleporter," Church answers. "You were taking a long time to come back, so I let (Last Name) tag along with me instead."
"Oh."
Then Tucker turns his head to look back at Church. "Well, you're still the leader."
"Okay, but why can't you ask him?"
"Because you're the leader."
"But you're closer!"
"But you're the leader!"
"...You're never gonna stop this until I ask him, are you."
"Nope! And I'm gonna keep at it until you do."
"Ugh, fine. (Last Name), do you know how to drive a tank?"
With the involvement of having to watch the whole ordeal ever since she had arrived, (Name) nodded her head at the cobalt-armored soldier, confirming to the question that had been needed to be answered since the tank's arrival to Blood Gulch as Church and Tucker looked at her in shock.
"You've got to be fuckin' kidding me," Church says as he facepalms at his mistake. "Now I regret on not bringing the tank."
Meanwhile (back with Caboose)...
While his teammates were still getting shot at by the Red Team, Caboose has finally hopped into the tank's main carrier and was now turning on the large, heavy metal machine.
"Hello, and thank you for activating the M808V Main Battle Tank. You may call me "Sheila"."
Caboose immediately became nervous when the tank started talking to him, but decided to respond back anyways in a polite manner. "Hello. Sheila. Big Tank Lady that's bigger than Giant Person."
"Would you like for me to run the tutorial program?" Sheila asked.
"Oh, that'd be very nice. Thank you!"
"Tutorial program activated. This program is intended to instruct non-certified personnel in the use of of this Scorpion-class tank. Let's begin with some driving."
"Okay."
And so begins Caboose's tank lessons.
Meanwhile (with Grif and Simmons)...
Simmons continued to fire bullets at the Blue Team, leaving for Grif to watch him do so from afar as he sighs lazily, knowing that he'll have to stop his teammate from wasting all the ammunition before Sarge comes back from his duties and gets on them for it (or more specifically, him).
"Simmons!" he shouted over the noise, hoping that his maroon-armored teammate would be able to hear him and give him his undivided attention as he waited for a response.
When no response was given to him, Grif then cupped his right hand where his mouth would be and called out to his teammate once more. "SIMMONS!"
This time his shout had managed to catch Simmons' attention as he halts from his shooting and hops down from the armored vehicle, curious as to what his orange-armored teammate had called him out for.
"Man that thing is loud," Grif says, not noticing that his maroon-armored teammate can't really hear him properly due to said object as Simmons tilted his head at him in confusion.
"...WHAT?!"
But Grif still doesn't seem to notice this as he continues talking. "Come on, let's sneak around the back of the rock and get them out."
"OKAY!"
"Shh! Keep it down! Jesus! Let's go before they figure out what's going on."
And so the two (with one following the other in curiosity since he's slightly deaf) walked off, not noticing that a large military tank was riding around the grassy-dirt fields in the distance.
Meanwhile (back with Caboose)...
The blue-armored soldier was still trying to learn how to drive the large mechanism, having to have pass by the area of where his teammates were hiding without the Red Team noticing his and his sloppy driving as he currently struggled to drive the tank over a large pointed rock.
"Now that you've mastered driving the M808V, let's move on to some of the safety features," Sheila says.
"No, no, wait, go back! Why are there only six pedals if there are only four directions?" Caboose questions in confusion as puts the tank in reverse and drives off of the large rock.
Meanwhile (back with Blue Team)...
After the Red Team had stopped their firing, the Blue Team still continued to take cover behind the large rock, with Church peeking out on one side while (Name) peeked out from the other.
"Psst, hey, they stopped firing!" Church whispers to Tucker, whom was standing up beside him as the aqua-armored soldier looked down at him in slight confusion.
"Why are you whispering?" the aqua-armored soldier asks in a normal volume.
"Um...I don't know," Church whispers again.
(Name), however, ignored the two and continued to look out from the other side of the boulder, seeing two of Red Teams' soldiers standing on the other side of the cliff that she was at as she presses a button on her helmet near her visor to zoom in on them.
"Aw, crap. I don't think we're gonna be able to get around this way," Grif says as he looks up at the cliff that was cut off from walking up to.
"Tell me again, why did we get out of the jeep?" Simmons asks, his hearing now becoming a little bit more clearer as he looks over at Grif with a raised brow.
As (Name) was watching them from above, the loud sounds of something mechanical rolling by was heard, making (Name) look up as she sees the tank from Blue Base drive up behind the Red Team unnoticed.
"Well, I guess it was this or sit there and watch you shoot rocks all day long," Grif answers, although in the back of his head he knew that he would've gone for the later option if it wasn't for the fear of Sarge trying to kill him for absolutely no reason at all. Again.
"Well, at least that was fun," Simmons added, trying to lighten up the mood.
After seeing that the two weren't noticing what was about to occur, (Name) then decided to get their attention by tossing a small sized rock into their direction, not really caring as to where she aimed.
*TAP*
"Huh? What the--" Grif questions, having to have felt a random rock hit the side of his helmet as he turned his head to look back up at the cliff, noticing the midnight blue-armored soldier looking down at them from above. "Hey, it's that really tall dude."
"Really? What do they want?" Simmons asked as he looked up also.
They then watched as the midnight blue-armored soldier began to make a swirl motion with her pointer finger pointing downward, doing that motion for a couple of seconds before pointing over into the direction behind them.
"What do you think they're trying to tell us?" Grif asks.
"I...think that they're telling us to turn around and look behind us," Simmons concludes.
And that's exactly what they did as they both slowly turned around to see a large tank sitting right behind them.
"Holy CRAP! What in God's name is that thing?" Grif asks.
"I-I don't know!" Simmons says.
While the two were freaking out about the situation that they were currently in, the tanks' turret then began to move around, making the two soldiers froze in their place as (Name) continues to watch the scene from above.
"Dude, hold still. I don't think it sees us," Grif warns.
But his small hope was proven wrong as the turret aimed itself directly at Grif, marking him as its target.
Meanwhile (as this was happening)...
"Tucker, don't be stupid. They're just trying to draw us out," Church says as he continues to look at the vacant armored vehicle from afar.
"No they're not. Look, they left the jeep. They're gone," Tucker says as he pointed into the same direction to show that he was indeed correct about the Red Team being gone.
"Well, I don't know about this. It seems pretty fishy, but...Alright, screw it."
And so they headed off towards the unintended armored vehicle, not noticing that two of Red Teams' soldiers were about to get blasted into pieces by their tank.
