Chapter 5

After walking across the grassy-dirt field, Church and (Name) have finally made it over to where the red-armored soldier was located and were now taking cover behind a small hill big enough for the two to hide in.

"Alright (Last Name), here's the plan: You go out there and take out the Sarge, while I go and take the flag back to base. That way you can dispose of the body while me and the rookie celebrate my "heroic actions" on getting the flag back. Sounds good?" Church says.

But (Name) only shook her head at the idea, leaving for Church to be flabbergasted by the response that was given to him as he watched (Name) bring out her speaking journal.

"Sir, instead of just letting me finish off the Sergeant alone, why don't we both go and take him out at the same time? That way we can over power him with a 2-V-1 tactic, and the rookie can properly see you in action, as he is currently watching us from afar."

This made Church look over into the direction of where Blue Base was, noticing that their blue-armored teammate was indeed watching them as he thought about the new plan. "*sighs* Fine, we'll go with your plan. But only because it'll show the rookie that he'll have to be more respectful towards me from now on. Oh, and to top it off, let's make sure that it looks like I killed the Sergeant, got it?"

"Affirmative."

"Okay. Oh! I can hear his footsteps. Get ready to pop out in three...two...one!"

Then the two jumped out from behind the hilltop, their guns aimed at the red-armored soldier before them. "FREEZE!"

"Huh? Hey! Why the hell were you shooting at me earlier?! You could've hit me, you dick!" the red-armored soldier (also known as "Donut" because (Name) had just met him earlier prior) shouted at Church, having to have remembered seeing who it was that was shooting at him earlier before looking up at the taller soldier with a small glare. "And you! Where the hell were you when he was shooting at me?! I could've been seriously injured, or worse--"

"Can it. Don't try to play stupid with me, Sarge. I know who you are. We've been spying on you for three weeks now. Except (Last Name) since he was out patrolling for those days and is still new to the canyon," Church interrupts, continuing to point his gun at Donut as the mentioned red-armored soldier looks back at him with a confused look.

"What? I just got here about two hours ago, and I'm not a Sergeant. I'm a Private."

That's when Church realizes. "Wait a minute, you're not the Sergeant!"

"Uh, yeah, that's what I just said," Donut says, deadpanning at Church's sudden realization as he sets the flag down beside him.

"Well, then how the hell did you managed to steal our flag?"

"Steal? I have no idea what the hell you're talking about!"

But before the argument could escalate any further, a random soldier covered in strange black stuff suddenly popped out from the teleporter that was near them, immediately frightening both the cobalt and red-armored soldiers as the other soldier shouted out.

Tucker: "Three!"

Church: "JESUS!"

Donut: "HOLY SHIT! Who is that guy?"

But this didn't seem to have frightened (Name) in the slightest as she quietly watches the scene before her, lowering her gun down slowly while keeping her guard up just in case.

"What the hell?" Church questions, taking a closer look at the soot-covered soldier as he realizes who this was. "Tucker? Is that you?"

The soot-covered soldier looks over at Church in confusion. "H-How did you get here ahead of me?"

"And what's with that black shit on your armor?" Donut adds in, talking specifically to Tucker as the mentioned soot-covered soldier looks over at him before immediately pulling his gun out and pointing it at him.

"Hey! Freeze, Sarge!"

"Would you stop calling me a Sergeant? I'm still just a Private."

"The Sarge is still a Private? Oh. My. God. The teleporter sent me back in time!"

Tucking away her gun, (Name) decided that it was best to leave them be, finding this irrelevant for her presence to be here in a conversation that was most likely going nowhere (and eventually leading into some type of disastrous conundrum) as she walks off to find a spot to sit and watch from afar while opening up her communication system module on her non-dominant arm to send a message to her fellow acquaintance to come and join her.

Meanwhile (at Red Base)...

Lopez was currently standing near the Warthog, doing what he was commanded to do (which is to guard and keep an eye on the jeep until Sarge comes back) while listening to some upbeat music through its radio when he suddenly sees his least favorite teammates (or people in general) start climbing into the Warthog.

"Hi, Lopez. We need the jeep," Grif says in a quick manner as he hops into the drivers' seat. "How do you turn off the fuckin' radio?"

"I'll take the gunner!" Simmons announces to Grif as he hops into the back where the 360-DRMPLAAMG (360-degree rotation Multi-Purpose Light Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun) rests. "Let's roll."

And so, the two start driving off, with Simmons shouting back at Lopez. "Don't worry, Lopez! I'll bring her back in one piece!"

As Lopez continued to watch them drive off with the Warthog, a small "ding" sound resonates through his helm, indicating that a message was sent to him as he pulls it up across his visor.

Now knowing of whom it was that sent him the message, Lopez clicked "yes".

OPENING MESSAGE:

"Will be arriving in 30 minutes or more on foot. Private Simmons and Private Grif have taken the M12-LRV. They're heading in your direction. I'll see you then."

After (Name) had read the message that her acquaintance had sent to her, she then shuts off the communication system module and continues to observe the scene before her, getting herself comfortable on the conveniently shaped rock that she was currently sitting on as Tucker spoked to Church.

"Look, I know you don't know me, but you have to believe what I'm about to tell you. Sometime in your future, I got stationed here in Blood Gulch, and we meet. And this guy here *points at Donut* he gets promoted to Sergeant of the Red Army, and we spy on them. And they get this new jeep, and I'm all like: "There's no way you can pick up chicks in a tank!""

"...Tucker, what the fuck are you babbling about?" Church asks, seemingly annoyed by Tucker's idiotic discovery on something that actually didn't happened as the mentioned aqua-armored soldier continued on with his rant.

"I know it all sounds crazy, but he eventually becomes a Sergeant and then one day we get a tank, and he comes and steals our flag while we're distracted!"

This made Donut look over at Church with a raised brow. "Is this guy retarded?"

"Red. Shut up," Church says to Donut, his annoyance levels rising ever so slowly as he then looks back at his aqua-armored teammate. "Tucker, listen to me. You haven't gone back in time, okay? This IS the guy that took our flag, he's just not the Sergeant. Turns out he's just some dumb rookie who happens to have the same armor color as him. He got in somehow, just--FOR GOD'S SAKE, WHAT IS THAT MUSIC?!"

Apparently, as he was in the midst of talking, the loud sounds of Polka music started blasting throughout the open-spaced area, making everyone (even (Name)) turn their heads to look over to where the music was coming from as the Red Team's armored vehicle popped into view.

Simmons: "Woohoo!"

Tucker: "Holy shit!"

Church: "Son of a bitch! RUN, JESUS, RUN!"

Then the two soldiers of Blue Team started running off towards a trail that led up behind a large boulder that sat on a cliff, leaving (Name) to silently sigh at what was happening before her as she pulled out her communication system module and typed a quick message to Lopez to inform him of the news.

Meanwhile (back with Lopez)...

As Lopez was currently waking over to where (Name) was located, another message had popped up across his visor, making him halt in his tracks as he pulled up the message.

OPENING MESSAGE:

"Cancel the meeting. Your teammates are firing their 360-DRMPLAAMG at my teammates and had chased them off towards some shelter behind a large boulder on a cliff. Need to go and blend in with the others before they suspect my absence. My apologies for letting you walk to my location without earlier knowledge of today's events. We'll have to reschedule at a later time."

When he read the message, Lopez immediately got to work on replying to the message that he'd received from his acquaintance.

SENDING MESSAGE TO: PRIVATE (LAST NAME)

"Apology accepted. But I'll still be arriving to said location to watch the scene progress, and to get you out of there if needed."

This made Lopez pause when he saw the last bit, seemingly questioning to himself as to why he had typed that as he deleted the last bit of that sentence and replaced it with something else.

"Apology accepted. But I'll still be arriving to said location to watch the scene progress. My task was to keep an eye on the M12-LRV until my creator gets back from his duties, so I'll be making sure that the armored vehicle doesn't get damaged by them until then."

Satisfied with what he had typed, Lopez then began to send the message, but only for it to cancel on him a second later as a notification popped up.

PRIVATE (LAST NAME) IS OFFLINE

MESSAGE WASN'T SENT

SAVE MESSAGE AS DRAFT?

YES
NO

This made Lopez curse in his thought processor as he knew definitely well what this means.

'She must've turned it off after she had sent her message. Things must be really crazy if she had to cancel our meeting so quickly. I need to on head over and see what all the commotion is about.'

And so Lopez continues his trek down to the aforementioned location at a faster pace, not noticing that his human-like emotions were once again rising up and taking a mental toll on his robotic mind.

Meanwhile (back with (Name))...

Once (Name) had send the message and turned off her communication system module, the midnight blue-armored soldier then hops down from the large rock that she sat on and starts heading off towards the location of where her teammates are taking cover at, seemingly passing by the three Red Team soldiers without their notice.

"What the hell is going on here?" Grif asks Donut as Simmons fires the machine gun at the Blue Team while shouting at them.

"You know what, I honestly have no idea what's going on. I think everyone in this canyon is absolutely insane," Donut responds, giving up on trying to figure it out himself as he grips onto the flag in his hands before looking down in thought. "Well...except for that really tall guy..."

"Okay, then how did you get the flag?" Grif asks again.

"I don't know. I just asked for it."

This made Grif looked at his newest teammate in shock. "Wait, that worked?"

"I guess. Is it not suppose to?" Donut asked.

"I don't know. We've never even thought to try that. Just take the flag back to base, I'll explain there."

"Not until someone tells me what the fuck is go--"

But Grif interrupts him. "There's no time to explain, rookie! Just take the flag and go to the base! I'll explain everything there!"

"Ugh! Fine!" Donut says in an annoyed and frustrated tone as he then walks off with the flag in the opposite direction of where Red Base was.

"*sigh* Back to OUR base, dumbass!"

"Uh, I know. I just got turned around, that's all."

And so Donut begins walking into the correct direction of where Red Base was while his two teammates continued to fire bullets at the Blue Team.

Meanwhile (with Caboose)...

Back at Blue Base, Caboose was currently watching the chaos that was happening from afar, using the telescope from the sniper rifle to see better as the blue-armored soldier starts rambling to himself in a nervous manner.

"Oh man, that's not good. *sees the Red Teams' armored vehicle* Oh my God, that jeep has a really big gun."

He then looks over at the tank, wondering if he should help out or continue following the orders that Church has given to him earlier prior.

"Stay here. Tank. Stay here. Tank. *looks at tank longer*...Ah, screw it."

And so he heads on over towards the tank, determined to go and help out his fellow teammates.
