Chapter 4

Later...

While Church and Tucker had came up to the rooftop to consult (or to scold vigorously at) with Caboose about his mistake, (Name) silently sat back in the background of it all, once again not being very interested in listening in on what her teammates were conversing about as she wrote down in her note-taking journal, writing about the information that she had gotten on the Red Team's newest recruit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Designation: Franklin Delano Donut
-Gender: Male
-Physical Features: N/A
-Armor Color: Red(Standard Issue)
-Military Level: Rookie
-Current Status: Alive
Relationship with teammates/others:
-Unavailable as of now due to him being a newcomer in Blood Gulch. Will provide with some information once I've done more observations on him.
Notes (based on observations):
-Shows to be a bright character much like Private Caboose, however it's dropped down by a few notches since he shows potential signs of a more "garrulous personality" than Private Caboose's. Once again more information will be provided at a later schedule.
After finishing up with what she had written, she then put away her note-taking journal and began walking over to where the others stood, watching the scene before her with crossed arms.
"Let me get this straight. You gave this guy our flag?" Church asks once again.
"Uh, yeah? That's what I just said," Caboose answers, seemingly confused and oblivious by the fact that his superior was actually angry at him as Church continues.
"No, no, listen to what I'm saying, rookie. You gave. This guy. A random person. Better yet, a total stranger. Our flag?"
"Is...that bad?"
This caused for Church's anger to flare up at Caboose's comment. "BAD? Oh no, that's not BAD! Next time he comes over, why don't you just HELP HIM BLOW UP THE WHOLE GODDAMN BASE?!"
After finally realizing that he was being yelled due to his mistake from earlier, Caboose then looked down, feeling ashamed of himself for giving the flag away to said total stranger as Tucker interrupts their conversation.
"There! There he is!"
"Where?" Church asks, already lifting up the sniper rifle that he had in his possession up to his visor as he looks through the telescope into the direction of where Tucker was pointing at. "Oh! Yeah! Oh, I got him!"
After watching the "intruder" walk around the area with the flag in their possession, Church then spoked. "He's sneakin' around back behind the cliffs."
"He must be one smart son of a bitch," Tucker concludes, unaware by the fact that his conclusion was wrong as he and the others continued to watch the intruder from afar.
Meanwhile (in Donut's perspective)...
"Aw, man, I'm so freakin' lost," Donut says, looking around the "unknown" area that he's in as he walks around aimlessly behind some random hill tops. "Where the hell is the base? *sighs* Maybe I should've asked Private (Last Name) for directions."
Meanwhile (back at Blue Base)...
"Oh shit," Church curses while continuing to look through the rifles' telescope. "Hey Tucker, look at his armor. It's red."
"Aw, man! That means it's their Sergeant!" Tucker says in slight anger.
"Well, that makes sense. At least we know how he got by our defences," Church added while glancing back at Caboose with a heated glare.
Once Caboose saw that, he then quickly went in on defending himself from the false accusation. "Uh, you know, he came in the back door where you guys were standing."
Afterwards, he then looked up at the midnight blue-armored soldier (whom was currently standing beside him) and added. "He even talked to Giant Person for a bit before walking away with the flag."
"What? No he didn't. (Last Name) was with us the whole time," Tucker says with a raised brow. "After Church was yelling at you to get back inside for who knows how many times, (Last Name) had just arrived scaring the crap out of us and saying that he was out patrolling like he usually does. He then stayed with us the whole time until you barged in saying that the intruder had stole the flag from you. Also, his name is "Private (Last Name)", not "Giant Person"."
"But-But it's true! I saw it with my own eyes!--"
"Oh cut the bullshit, rookie. We know you're new and all, but we're not here to make up excuses as to who is to blame for letting a Red sneak into our base and steal our flag. Right now, we're here to take out the Sergeant, and get our flag back," Church interrupts, positioning the sniper rifle into the correct spot as he carefully aims it at the (confused) red-armored soldier. "Okay. Say goodnight, Sarge."
He then fires four shots at the soldier...
Meanwhile (in Donut's perspective)...
"Son of a bitch!" Donut shouted, ducking down at the sounds of gunshot firing at him as he attempts to dodge and weave the incoming bullets (that are completely missing him) while holding the flag up as a defense mechanism. "Why the fuck are they shooting at me?!"
Meanwhile (back at Blue Base)...
"Aw, crap," Church says, having to have run out of bullets in the sniper rifle as he looks over to see Tucker staring at him. "What?"
"You're not very good with that, are you?" Tucker says while giving Church the dead-panned look through his helmet's visor.
(Name), however, sighs silently at this, seemingly disappointed at her teammate's lack of aiming as she presses a button on the side of her helmet near her visor to zoom in on the red-armored soldier down below that she had introduced herself to previously (to which she had personally upgraded during the week of waiting for the drop off), watching silently as he waved their flag while slightly hearing him shouting at them to stop in their direction.
"Hey! It's me! Don't shoot! I'm the guy that bought the flag, remember?!"
But his shouts seem to have gone unnoticed by her teammates as Tucker takes the action as an insult.
"Oh, great. Now he's taunting us. That's just embarrassing."
This makes Church's anger flare up once more. "Alright, that's it! I've had it!"
He then tosses the sniper rifle in a random direction (to which (Name) caught it since it was heading in her direction) and turns to look at his fellow teammates. "Rookie, you stay here! (Last Name), you stay here also and keep an eye on the rookie! Make sure that he doesn't make any more mistakes while I'm gone! Tucker, you and I will head through the teleporter and cut him off at the pass!"
"Right!" Caboose say with a nod of his head as he stood closer to the taller soldier, whom was also giving Church a small nod while she adjusted the sniper rifle that rested against her dominant shoulder.
After confirming that everyone will be in their designated positions, Church then walks over towards the mentioned teleporter and halts beside it. "Tucker, you ready? Let's go!"
"There's no way I'm going through that thing," Tucker says to Church, refusing to take a step forward towards the teleporter as Church looks at him.
After that, an argument then ensued between the aqua and the cobalt-armored soldiers, leaving for (Name) and Caboose to watch the whole ordeal before them in silence until Caboose decided to speak to the midnight blue-armored soldier.
"So, uh, why were you talking to that other guy earlier? Were you two..."friends" or something?" Caboose asked.
(Name) shakes her head, taking out her speaking journal and writing something down in it before presenting it to him.
"No, we aren't. I was just welcoming him into Blood Gulch, that is all."
"A-Are you sure? Church and Tucker really seem to hate that "Sergeant" guy. Doesn't that mean that we have to hate him too?"
This made (Name) look down at the blue-armored soldier before her, seemingly thinking about something before writing something else down into her speaking journal and showing it to him afterwards.
"No, we don't. We have the right to make our own decision if we should "hate" him or not--even if he's on a different team. Personally, I'm not very interested in liking, nor disliking anyone on each of the Blue and Red teams."
"But doesn't that make you, ya' know, confused as to what side you're really on?"
"No, it identifies me as a "Neutral", a person who isn't really interested in being on either sides of the opposing teams. Although I was assigned to be on the "Blue Team", I can cooperate with almost everyone on both teams as long as the situation is deemed appropriate, meaning that I have become an "acquaintance" to almost everyone here in Blood Gulch regardless of the situation."
"Oh, okay. I guess that's, uh, some-what easy to...understand."
"Tucker, I hate to do this to you," Church suddenly says, interrupting the conversation between (Name) and Caboose as they looked to see Church now pointing his M6D Magnum Sidearm at Tucker, whom was currently glaring back at him.
"You wouldn't."
"You know, I look at it this way. Either A) We go through there and get the flag back, or B) We stay here, and I get to kill you. Either way, I win."
Church then clicks his gun, showing that he was being serious about doing so as Caboose flinches at the sound, shocked at how quick the argument had escalated while (Name) instinctively went to grab the handle of her gun once more.
After a few moments of intense silence, Tucker then answers. "For the record, I want you to know, rocks aren't people."
"Duly noted. Now get in there."
"Crap. Alright."
Tucker then heads over to stand in front of the teleporter, getting ready to run into it.
"One! Two!--"
Before he could finish his countdown, Tucker then runs into the machine, disappearing into its neon-green abyss as his teammates patiently waited for the aqua-armored soldier to come out from the other side across the field.
A few minutes later...
"Huh. He didn't come out from the other side," Caboose mentions out loud.
"Yeeeeah...I've, uh...I've decided I'm not going to use the teleporter," Church says nervously as he backs away slowly from the teleporter before jumping down from the bases' rooftop. "Okay (Last Name), today's your lucky day. You're gonna take Tucker's place and come with me to go after the Sergeant. Rookie, you stay here and guard the base. We'll be back with the flag."
He then heads off into the direction of where the red-armored soldier was, with (Name) following closely behind after giving a small goodbye salute to her blue-armored teammate.
Meanwhile (at Red Base)...
At the other side of the large canyon, two of Red Team's soldiers were already on high alert, trying to figure out where the sounds of the gunshots were coming from while looking out into the large open area around their base.
Or at least, one of them was.
"I still have no idea what you're talking about. I didn't hear any shots," Simmons spoked to Grif in confusion.
"*sighs* I'm telling you, it was four shots," Grif says once more while looking through the telescope of a sniper rifle. "Like: Bam! Bam! Bam!"
"Wait a second, that's only three bams."
"...Bam."
After a few seconds of waiting, Grif then spots two familiar figures walking across the field. "Wait a second...We got a blue guy and a tall guy on the move out there."
"Where they heading?" Simmons asked.
But his question was ignored as Grif looked into the direction of where the Blue Team was heading. "Oh, crap! It's--It's Donut! And he's got something! It looks like..."
Girf then looks up from the telescope, realization written across his armored features. "Simmons...get the Warthog."
Simmons chuckles. "Heh, you mean the "Puma"?"
This made Grif sigh in annoyance, not wanting to get teased again of what occurred over one week ago. "Yeah, yeah, keep making jokes. That'll win the war," he says with a roll of his eyes.
Then the two headed off, getting themselves ready to go and save their new teammate.
