To The Moon

Red Son sighed, fixing Mei's posture, "No no no, Dragon Girl! Straighten your back, your arms, and your leg. Hold the buckets up high, it'll be more difficult once you start using them when they are full." Mei groaned, "How is this supposed to help me train for fire..?"

Red Son rolled his eyes, "It helps you maintain balance and power, fire wielding isn't just about carelessly throwing flames around. You need to maintain your emotions, and your focus." Mei suddenly fell over, huffing, "Big talk for such an angry guy."

"Do as I say, not as I do, "He stared down at his newly appointed student, unimpressed, "I suppose you could use a break. Come on, let's go bother the pig."

--

Turns out they could not bother the chef.

Pigsy was too busy fawning over Cooking With Chang'e, and it was Wukong who served them their bowls of food. Tang nodded at Mei, "How's training?" Mei slumped, scarfing down her noodles, "HARD! MK, how do you do this every day?!"

The young hero shrugged, "Well, Monkey King started me off slow and built up my tolerance. So." Wukong looked over, hearing his name and accidentally startling the bull prince with his naturally red and gold eyes. Red Son nudged Mei, "How are you so casual about that..?"

Mei chewed slowly, confused, "Casual 'bout wot?" Red huffed, "Don't speak and chew, Dragon Girl. I'm talking about his eyes, he constantly looks like he's going to eat me alive." MK shrugged, "He probably will if you give him a reason to. His glamour is down cause he lost his powers." The bull demon quirked an eyebrow, "But he's meditated for a while now? Aren't his powers back by now?"

MK's form slumped, "Well, he doesn't like hiding stuff. It makes him all... sad. He hid his eyes 'cause it scares people, so we told him not to worry." He suddenly brightened up, smirking, "Pretty sure that's not the case with you, though. He seems to enjoy scaring you to death!"

A shadow suddenly opened up, revealing a mildly disheveled Macaque. Wukong grinned, chirping a greeting. The shadow user chirped back reflexively, "Hey, bud. Say, mind if I grab that egg?" MK rolled his eyes, used to his food-snatching habit, and held up his bowl, allowing Macaque to take his hard-boiled egg.

He walked over to his partner, sitting down and casually eating from the same bowl as the king. Wukong glared at him, chirping despite his reaction having no real heat to back up his warning. Macaque bared his teeth and hissed back playfully, snatching a carrot slice and eating it loudly.

MK sighed, "Say, you're good at deciphering the locations on the map, what's the circle in the sky?" Macaque stared at the young hero with an unimpressed glare, "The moon? Either that or the sun."

MK suddenly faced the tv screen, ignoring the moon goddess and instead focusing on the background, "Say... Guys! She has a ring! There!" Wukong huffed, making a rocketship motion before shrugging. MK slumped, "Oh, yeah. How are we supposed to get up there?" Macaque smirked, "I can shadow us up there."

Pigsy gapped, "Could I... come along..?" Mei gushed, poking him playfully, "Aww, Piggy's gonna meet his idol! Welp! Bring me back some treats, 'cause I am SO SORE." Red Son rolled his eyes, silently eating despite her whining.

Macaque opened a shadow, gesturing for the other three to hop in, "After you."

--

Pigsy stared in awe at the scenery, gushing on and on. MK stared in awe, too, after realizing gravity was looser on the moon, bouncing around with glee. Wukong joined him, hopping along with a wide grin.

Macaque snorted, "Alright, c'mon! I can take you to her kitchen. Let's hurry."

--

MK rummaged around, picking up and shoving aside piles of cooking items and ingredients, closely followed by Macaque who reorganized the items. Pigsy wandered around, staring in awe at the kitchen and the mooncake factory positioned below. Wukong simply sat on a counter, kicking his feet back and forth.

MK hopped up onto the counter next to his mentor and beamed, "There it is!" Wukong bursted out in airy laughter, doubling over as MK gasped, "You knew it was up there!" The king grinned widely before getting up and offering to lift his successor. Macaque snickered, "MK, bud, you're blinder than me."

MK stuck out his tongue and let himself get lifted into the air, snatching the ring off of the wall. Alarms began to blare, and a huge bunny mech appeared, charging up its cannons.

--

MK ducked as a laser blasted above him, "WUKONG, DO SOMETHING!!"

The king eyed the bunny mech, blushing hard and his eyes gleamed with delight as he cooed. Macaque sighed, "He's not doing shit to something cute, bud." Pigsy harrumphed, "Language!" The shadow user smirked, "Cantonese, Chinese, a little bit of Spanish--"

MK yelped again as he ducked into random foliage, "GUYS. What do I do?!" Monkey King pointed at the mech, expanding his arms, "Yes, Monkey King, I know it's big!" The king then moved his arms, shrinking down the imaginary mech. "...Change the mech?"

Wukong nodded, making a pushing motion with his hands. MK sputtered, "Can't Macaque just shadow him away or something?!" Macaque yawned, "Ohhh, but I'm just so tired after taking us all up here..."

"Fine."

MK ran out of the foliage, lifting up his hands as the mech powered up its cannons. The hero swallowed hard as he called out for any energy to appear at his fingertips. His hands suddenly glowed vibrantly, and the mech was washed in golden light as it floated in the air. MK moved his hands the same way Wukong had, watching in awe as the mech shrank down before the gold cleared up, revealing an adorable mini bunny mech.

Wukong dove forward, gushing and cooing at the little robot, picking it up like a toy and cradling it the same way he rocked Mo.

"Ahem. So, what are you all doing here?" Everyone looked back at Chang'e as she stared at them with a critical eye. She skated forward, "I... am..." She stopped in front of MK and Wukong, beaming at them, "A huge fan! Monkie Kid and Monkey King, right? I hate to be that gal, but, could I snap some pics with you?" She circled the duo, snapping selfies with them and the little mech in the king's arms.

She turned toward Macaque and snickered, "Funny seeing you here. Weren't you moping last time you dropped by?" Macaque huffed out a laugh, rolling his eyes, "Funny, wasn't I moping because you were whining about dropping some cupcakes?" Chang'e pouted, "...They were good cupcakes..."

Wukong puffed out his cheeks, chirping. Macaque snorted, "Chang'e, this is my partner and ex-enemy. Wukong, this is my good friend, Royal Sugar--" Chang'e nudged him, "Rude."

"Anyway, you guys took something of mine and I'd like it back." She held out her hand and MK nervously took out the ring, "I'm really sorry, but we need--" The moon goddess grinned in amusement, "That old thing? No, no, it landed on the moon a long time ago! So I kept it here until it could return to its rightful place. I'm talking about my recipe book."

MK stared at her in confusion, "But we didn't take a book..?" He gasped loudly, turning to face a guilty-looking Pigsy, "You! Oh, you are in SO much trouble!" Wukong ignored them, sitting down on the ground to continue cuddling the poor mini mech and Macaque just snickered.

Pigsy sighed, handing over the book with a page open, "I'm sorry, I just wanted to leave something for you." Chang'e smiled warmly at the recipe placed in her book, "Don't cry, Mr.Pig. Say, how about you stay for a bit? I don't get much company up here." Macaque grinned, poking the goddess playfully, "Sure, Goddess of The Moon."

Chang'e poked him back, chuckling, "I'm glad you can keep me company, Great Sage of Informing Wind."

--

Everyone chewed on mooncakes as they watched Chang'e new episode starring Pigsy, happily congratulating him. Well, Red Son was just eating, but with a very encouraging grin from Wukong, he was also patting the chef on the back.

MK sighed contently, leaning back, "...So where's Lantern City..?"
