I am Cori Durkens.

Life is good.

Life is grand.

I couldn't think of a possibly better feeling than that I felt now.

It was remarkable.

I walk into my home with a smile. My dorm room consisted of two other beings playing Foosball.

Again I smile.

I could be told I was going to loose my favorite $100 shoes and wouldn't care.

Because Nanna Tootsie was going to be all right. And that's all that mattered.

I sigh as I kick off my shoes and make my way back to my bedroom.

Our dorm was quite large, it was more like an apartment than anything really.

It had two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a decent sized living room with a pretty window which viewed the city of Chicago with gratitude.

I shut the door behind me, friends still making a ruckus outside and I start pulling off my coat.

Sighing I smile and choke back tears.

She's gonna be fine. Just fine.

The man I met promised me that, I have to believe it.

I have to...

I shake my head and begin to walk to my closet, but suddenly I'm pushed up against a wall whilst a large hand covered my screams.

My eyes widen in fear. I feel the press of a gun touch my back.

I could tell the presence of a man was here. He said nothing, nor did I.

I stare at the wall my mind spinning. Then, I hear a gruff voice say something devastating.

"You're coming with me, scream and I'll kill you. Do you understand?" He says.

I shake my head 'yes' praying he'd free me or salvaged me if I behaved.

But deep within my soul I think I knew.

I knew in that moment, there was no going back for me.

Dread was all that awaited me.

Next thing I knew, while being dragged towards my window, into the Chicago lights, I was knocked out by a gun handle to the head.

----------------

I think I woke up in a car. I was moving, but not with my legs.

And, it was dark. Extremely dark and I felt nauseous.

Time was lost to me, all I remember was the kidnapping and I revised it again and again in my mind.

Why am I here?

Abruptly the car stopped and I felt myself thrust back raggedly.

Quicker than lightning three men open the car doors and pull me out.

I had trouble screaming, the light in my eyes from flashlight and moonlight blinded me.

I struggled but it lacked substance. It was as if my body left my soul behind.

Energy was dissipated and I could only look in horror at my kidnappers.

They said nothing. Were big burly men who wore black suits and ties.

But there smartly dressed selves only added more creepiness to the situation.

The silence unnerved me, and I could tell we were in a forest of sorts.

A forest? Where I lived there weren't any forest for miles.

Meaning I was far from home.

We walked slowly, more like they walked and I was carried to be honest.

The men still remained annoyingly quiet.

I still could not find a voice.

We near a cabin made of wood and luck and I begin to freak out again.

What do they want? Who are they? Why did they kidnap me?

Questions filled my skull to the brim.

I try to fight again but once more to no avail.

I was finished.

As we reached the doorstep one man knocks on the door.

I hear footsteps inside and wait as a woman in high heels and a white blouse opens the door with a smile.

"Oh, you must be Durkens, right? Come in, come in, before you all freeze to death." Says the chipper lady.

We walk in, I'm still being carried by two men, the third leading the way and the lady closes the door.

"He's in the den, go ahead I'll be there in a minute." She says leaving off to who knows where.

Orange lights cut my retinas as we make our way.

My heart refused to slow its pounding. I breathed as if I were running out of air.

Still I was taken. No concern. No worry.

We reach the den. It was full of brown couches and cliche animal head decorations on the wall.

A fireplace was off to the side it crackled warmly while a black dog laid in front of it.

It was huge, that dog. It was muscly and looked powerful. It seemed to have one messed up eye.

I wonder if it was abused. And if so, was I next?

"Sir, we've brought her here as asked." I hear, for the first time ever one of my capturers speak.

I look over where he was talking to.

A man was sitting in one of the reclining easy chairs in the room.

He turned around with a glass of some alcoholic drink in hand.

I gasp.

Him. It was him. The guy who saved my grandmother's life was here.

And he had a gun pointed straight at me.
