Could Steven Theoretically Exist?
Okay, so anyone who's gone to middle school knows all about DNA and dominant vs recessive alleles, but most importantly Chromosomes.
In case you haven't gone to middle school, missed the lesson, or just need a refresher, let's talk about Chromosomes.
We all know that all of the women's eggs have an X Chromosome and half of the child's DNA, and the man's sperm has the other half of the DNA and either another X Chromosome(Female) or a Y Chromosome(Male). You need both Chromosomes to decide gender and thus grow(there is one exception).
Now let's talk about Steven. Since Rose was not human and had no Chromosomes, Steven never got her X Chromosome, only Greg's Y Chromosome.
What would happen here? The first is obvious, he'd be Male. The second is slightly less obvious, he'd have no nipples.
(That circle gave me so much OCD lemme tell ya)
But, not satisfied with the obvious, I turned to what I know: Turner Syndrome.
"A chromosomal disorder in which a female is born with only one X chromosome
Rare
Fewer than 200,000 US cases per year
Can't be cured, but treatment may help
Requires a medical diagnosis
Lab tests or imaging always required
Chronic: can last for years or be lifelong"
So, I decided to look up how it occurs, which wasn't much help but I learned that the Chromosome variation occurs within the womb.
So, Steven isn't a girl and couldn't possibly have Turner Syndrome, but he could have a similar condition. For example, stunted growth is an example of Turner Syndrome, and we know very well Steven's looked the same since he was nine.
Oh well what do you think?
