I was in shock as I tried to wrap my head around the story this rat had just finished telling her. If what he said was indeed true, then he was her Father's greatest enemy. How would he react if she were to tell him the truth? I groaned, "I can't" I managed to whimper.

"Do you not have anyplace to go? Any family?"
Splinter asked me.

"I have no family. No one is worried about me. My mother has been kidnapped and is believed to be dead, the man I once called father is the man your sons saw attacking me. He could care less if I lived or died. The same goes for my biological father."

"I doubt that is true. All fathers care for their children."

"Not mine. I don't know why the Shredder wanted my mother and I, I only know that he does. My mother always told me that if the Shredder were to ever find us we would die. I'm sure my mother has already paid this price. You see, it was the foot clan that kidnapped her. I saw them stab her with a katana. If she didn't receive medical attention then she's dead. I know that if I am found I will soon join her. So you see I have no one."

"What of the man you have referred to as your so called father? What if him? Does he not care about you?"

"He blames me for my mother's disappearance. He said himself he wants nothing to do with me. In fact, I'm pretty sure that if he had his way he'd kill me himself. He never wanted me, and he certainly didn't love me. My bruises are proof of that."

"I am sorry to hear that my child. If the Shredder is truly after you, It is not safe for you remain on the streets. Nor is it safe for you to live topside at all. The Shredder is a very dangerous man and you never want to be on his bad side. There is no other solution, You shall live with my sons and I. You can live under our protection and I will train you as I train them. If you need human company we will contact our friends April O Neil and Casey Jones. Come."

"You would do that? You would take me in?Why? I don't understand."

"All children should have a loving home. As I said it isn't safe for you to remain alone. Whatever reason the Shredder is after you, your life could very well be in danger. You need someone to look after you."

"What will you tell your sons?"

"My sons trust my judgement, however, perhaps it is best that until we know for sure that the Shredder is your father that we don't tell my sons, at least not for now.  When I feel that they can handle the truth  if that is indeed the truth then and only then will I inform them.
