Chapter 3: Phantom Of The...?
~Chapter 3: Phantom Of The...? ~
"Mom, is that you?" I muttered to the grey, silver coloured phantom, it was floating around in my room, or SHE if this 'ghost' is really my mother. "Who are you?" I asked but the phantom didn't answer. I stepped out of my bed, the floor was cold and my feet began to freeze in a few minutes. I felt bad for not knowing for sure whether this was my mother or not, but I couldn't help but feel cautious. I could also be dreaming. But could I then feel the cold floor on my toes? Sure I can. I can also feel the hot touch of Adrian's fingers when he touches my face and- SHUT UP LINDSEY! I sighed and shook off the thoughts and opened the door slowly, tiptoed for a few meters but then ran to the bookcase in the living room. I peered around in the dark, my father didn't come home that evening.
I faced the bookcase, ran my fingers over the books, and took out an album filled with pictures of my mother and I. I tore out one page, with the most beautiful picture of my mom. I began to breath heavily as I stepped backwards slowly, the truth hit me, banging and knocking for my conscience to notice. I realized it. This... ghost or phantom.... she, she truly is... my mom...
I quickly went back to my bedroom, and opened the door, and there was indeed my mother as a floating phantom, still waiting for me. "Hi mom" I said slowly as I walked in again, and the phantom looked at me with pain in its face, but also with a proud look in its eyes. My mom nodded and I felt the world around me turning and changing as I saw everything up side down, my view became blurry and I felt like I was going to throw up. She opened her mouth but not a word left it. Tears kept running down my cheeks, I was still on the ground and my view began to clear a bit. "Why... Why did you leave us, mom, why?" I said through my tears. My mother seemed to gasp, wanting to say something, but then she shook her head. "Mom, I really want to know..." I said, but she seemed to try to mime something like 'not now', but I didn't understand why she'd come back from the dead only to not talk about things I wanted to know.
I was snobbing and she began to search for something, a piece of paper. Can ghosts write? She picked my notebook and flipped the pages until 'The Page': my drawing of Adrian, and under his face I had written his name in curly letters. I blushed and I wept my tears. "What's it..... mom?" She looked at it and she thouched the drawing with a smile, when she quickly looked at my window and I saw a light behind the curtains going on. "Adrian..... how?" I muttered under my breath and she placed her finger on her lips. I opened my curtains and I saw that Adrian did the same, which surprised me. I quickly ducked, flushing red, but Adrian didn't see me.
My mother signed that I could get on my feet again. I stood up and I saw dots flying around my head, and everything was blurry. I couldn't control my balance, and grabbed my curtains when I fell down, and with that, they closed and I fell on the ground. I groaned, rubbed my head, and tried to stand up again but fell backwards onto my bed. I closed my eyes for a second, sighed, and opened them again. I looked for my mother, but she was already gone. I haven't even spoke to her, or observed her dead form or something, what did she mean with Adrian and most of all: what was she doing here?
When I woke up I had to roll myself out of bed, literaly: the hard ground wakes you more up than coffee. I groaned and for the next half an hour I was stumbling around, picking my books and stuff for school, it was a lovely monday morning, unless you had to work or go to school, than it was a crappy morning, like always. I looked into the mirror and I looked like I had seen a ghost, well that is exactly what happened. I added some make-up to my face and I brushed my hair and I put it into 1 big braid. I unlocked my door, was it even locked before? Oh well.. it doesn't matter for now. I ran down the stairs and I looked for my father, but he still hadn't come home yet. I took a deep breath before I stepped out the door and I didn't have to fake my smile when I saw Adrian.
"Hey Adi!" "Hi Lins! Is everything alright?" "Er, yes" "You look like you have seen a ghost." I swallowed awkwardly. How on earth does he see that? I am all covered in make-up and he still sees it??? "I am fine Adrian" I said and I smiled at him. "Okay!" We walked to school and we were very chatty on this early morning.
"I have been dreaming about you last night", he said out of nowhere. "Oh really? What was your dream about? Well, what was I doing?" I said jokingly and I had to use my 'fabulous acting talents' to hide my shock: How much does he remember from last night?
--------------
It's shorter than 'normal' sorry for that but after this comes a long part with talking about the dream and stuff and I wanted that in the next chapter, so yeah... I'll update that later or well... soon! ;D
