02. The First Mate.
Juan reached his head around the building the see beautiful blonde Daphne walking down the roads. She didn’t feeling him watching her, she never did. She was so beautiful though with her long chestnut hair going past the middle of her back. He light tan skin was flawless and her blue eyes beautiful as ever.
Something about the beautiful English girl made her stand so much out then the other women in town in all of Virginia. The monster inside him always repeated her beautiful name, her haunting his thoughts ever second until he sees her.
He’s amazed she hasn’t sent her brother after him for stalking the young unmarried twenty-three year old. She has left England when she was only thirteen and she hasn’t seem to taken an interest in the men here.
The witch trails were over and Daphne just seems like a normal young girl. He knew there was no magic in those small hands of hers.
He wanted to talk to her, hearing her voice made his heart quicken. He isn’t sure why he wants this woman so bad, but something about her draws him to want her more. Maybe she is a witch but a good one. She sure has enchanted him.
He brushed his brown hair back and put his hat on as he walked from behind the building and kept his distance from her but enough to be close to her without her feeling him behind her.
He knew he shouldn’t talk to her, that was dangerous. People would see him and start to talk, question about who he is. He has worked so hard to keep a low profile after making every believed he was dead for the last three years.
This woman isn’t going to ruin it for him.
Daphne walked into the grassy field and Juan thought that was a perfect idea to watch her read. How much she loved to read he noticed. She always had her face stuck in a poem book.
It was a few moment when he stepped into the grassy field. Not to many people were out today and no one really paid attention to him following her.
Her heard the sound of quite sobbing and something like instinct of protection washed over him. His monster part of him though all wanted to do was figure out what was making her cry.
When he was near, her back was to him and she wouldn’t be able to hear him sneak up to her. They way her hand went across her face made him wish he was that hand. He wanted to feel her skin, see if it’s soft unlike most of the girls he met.
He wonders if this was what love was. He wanted to laugh, never been in love. Sure, maybe with his wife, but that was most likely from greed and lust. She was very pretty woman—one who couldn’t give him children and she just grew very boring. He only married her because of her status and she looked good next to him.
But something with this woman, he never felt before.
“Are you alright, ma’am?”, he couldn’t stop himself from asking.
Daphne jumped and turned her waist around to look up at him, “Oh uh yes. I am alright.”, she said, getting up. Her nodded her head once before walking around him.
“Wait.”, he said, gently grabbing her arm and he felt like his hand was tingling.
She slid her arm out of his grasp, “How rude of you to grab a lady.”.
“I am sorry.”, he said. “Are you alright though? I heard you sobbing and only want to help.”.
“You don’t even know me.”, she said. “And I do not know you. I have seen you but not many know who you are. You just appeared here seven weeks ago and no one even knows who is your family.”.
He smile, “Charles Russo.”, he greeted himself. “No relationship to Captain Russo’s family.”
“Well,”, she said, blushing. “It’s nice to meet you but I must be getting back now. My mother is sick and needs me—“
“Is that why you were crying?”, he asked.
She lowered her head, “I’m embarrassed but yes. I’m worried about her.”.
He put his hand under her chin and lift her head up, “No need to be embarrassed, she is your mother. Of course you should be worry about her.”, he said, not sure why he was so kind this woman. He doesn’t even know her that well. He’s was even once a cruel mean hurtful witch hunter.
But now—he was a monster being spelled into wanting to know this girl, wanting to protect her and make sure she has everything to keep her happy.
Her skin was soft—like butter. He reached his knuckles up and caressed her face. He felt the heat of her cheeks as she looked up with him with adornment. Then it was like she woke up and she stepped back, “I must be going. It was nice talking to you, Mr. Russo.”.
“Charles.”, he called after her.
She turned her head around and gave him a small smile, “Charles.”.
Okay, so I know this is reallys short, but I wasn't planning on writing another chapter. I was just looking at a blank page on word doc. and I began writing. So yeah, maybe a few more chapters to get to meet the first family. Lol. Hope you enjoy. Oh! And I see Christan Bale as Jaun/Charles!
