Chapter 3

He was staring at us through the window, then raised his gun. We knew we wouldn't be spared, the window was as big as the door next to it. He shot two bullets clean through the glass, hitting the back wall of our classroom. We all jumped, not caring about noise level now. Everyone ducked behind the desks to prolong the inevitable. This kid and I hid behind the door, which he was unlocking from the shattered window. I guess he was such a princess that he didn't want himself to get cut, so he ignored the size of the window. I didn't think he saw us.

He strolled right in, like he owned the place, then started shooting at the desks. One desk wasn't quite thick enough for complete protection, but the other students had prepared for this contingency, layering them one on top of each other. Then it was our turn. Both of us jumped at him, barely making a sound. While I tried to take a stab at him, the kid with the safety scissors tried to wrest the gun out of his hands. I hit something, I'm almost sure of it. As soon as the kid laid hands on his gun, the gunman screamed, then lashed out violently with his bare fist. He nailed the boy helping me, so I had to pick up the slack. I tore the gun from him, quickly spinning it around, to aim at him. The boy was getting to his feet, then stood next to me. I tossed him my scissors, so he was better armed.

While I held this kid there, another brave kid called 911 from their cell phone. We tried our best to watch him, having him put his hands behind his head. Unfortunately, that was exactly what he wanted us to make him do.
