Chapter 16: The Invasion That Shouldn't Have Happened

*Kat*

I didn’t fully believe her on it but I knew someone who could help me tell if all those visions really were Ulmenris dreams.

“Rassy. I need your help revealing the truth.”

“Anne? What are you doing with her?”

“Rassy calm down. I just found out that she had visions that started this war. They could have been Ulmenris but since I still don’t trust her, no offense.”

“None taken. I wouldn’t trust me either at this point.”

“I need you to tell me if she is telling the truth or is lying to us again.”

“Well Anne, I can still feel the hatred inside of you but I feel it dwindling fast. Something else is replacing it, fear. Your army is made of Waldorgians? How could you! The assassins on Narsda are Waldorgians as well? I don’t know who you are any more Anne.”

“Neither do I, I was under the influence of the Ulmenris is all I can think of on why I would dare talk to a Waldorgian. I just want to correct my past.”

“It is the truth, Kitty-Kat.”

“Why do people keep calling you Kat? Your name is Katherine.”

“I hate the name Katherine, so I have asked people to call me Kat. Rassy here is the only one who calls me Kitty-Kat though.”

“Oh well sorry, Kat, let’s go find Conrad though. While I was away I learned healing magic, I can heal him completely for the battle, and I’d rather face him first.”

We ran the hallways to the healers wing and I could tell where the room Conrad was in.

“Anne, you might want to stay out here for a moment, I will too. Rassy go in there and tell Conrad he’s got two visitors. Maybe he won’t try to kill you if we come in together like we are best friends.”

Erasmus nodded his head and went in.

“How does Conrad feel?”

“I can sense anger and worry, but most of all I feel his familiar presence again.”

“I’m sorry I took that away.”

“Stop apologizing, I have already forgiven you, I just need time to trust you.”

“Again, understandable.” Erasmus poked his head out and told us to come in.

“Hi C! How are you feeling?”

“Hi Brother. I am so sorry.” Anger grew inside Conrad’s eyes, as he got up to confront his sister. I stepped in front of Anne just as Conrad stood up out of the bed.

“Conrad.” I stared into his eyes while he stared at Anne with all the hatred he could muster. His eyes went back and forth between Anne’s an my own. When he finally realized that I was defending Anne, his eyes bore into mine asking questions.

“Why.” He finally said when I didn’t answer.

“She was being manipulated. This whole time our true enemy has hidden in the shadows behind a puppet for a leader.”

“Erasmus. She hasn’t been brainwashed has she?”

“No. I can feel the panic slowly growing inside Anne. They tell the truth.”

“While I was away I did learn how to heal beyond the power of those present here today. Please let me heal you brother as a sign of apology.”

Conrad still looked at her with eyes full of distrust but laid down on the bed again letting Anne get to work right away.

It didn’t take Anne long to work her magic and Conrad was being able to move without a single hint of pain on his face.

“Better than ever.” She said smiling, but it quickly faded from grimace to a frown. “I am so sorry Conradio. I should have known I was being tricked as soon as the visions told me to use the Waldorgians. I’m sorry to you too Kat. I pulled you into this and harmed you beyond belief.”

“Stop apologizing to me. I have already forgiven you. When you pulled me into the first Ulmenris I thought it was real until you told me. I could feel the bindings and the gag and blindfold. I had rope burns on me when I woke up.”

“How can you forgive me that quickly?”

“Because I can see in your eyes that you are just as scared as I am.”

“I can feel it too, your Highness. Your usual wall of blank emotions is gone.”

“Well it is much more than that.” I could tell she didn’t want to continue the subject.

“Is there anything you could tell us to help us when the war against Waldor?” Conrad said, I think, finally believing her sincerity.

“They plan to blow up the gate while you are distracted looking for me. They are going to wait an hour from when the doors closed.”

“Conrad must have arrived here shortly after I told them to close the gates. Nurse how long has The Prince has been here?”

“Its been forty-five minutes since he arrived.”

“We better run.”

After Anne told us those three little words there was a tense silence in the air as everyone absorbed the reality but within a couple of seconds everyone was running down the halls. We had barely made it to the entrance hall and out the doors when the explosion came.

The force of the walls falling down in the fiery explosion, made the four of us fly back into the entrance hall, landing flat on our asses. Some of the small debris made its way through the open doors and piled on top of our semi-motionless bodies. The dust filled our noses making our cough and sneeze like maniacs.

We had just unburied ourselves when we heard the roar of thousands of men. Whether our own or the enemies we had no way of telling, but based on our recent luck it was most likely the enemy. I barely felt the Conrad pulling at my armpits in an attempt to get me to stand.

All I could do was stare in bewilderment as the Waldorgians quickly overcame our own soldiers and flooded into the entrance hall, just as quickly filing the room.

“Well, well, well…looks like we did capture you again, Prince Conradio.”

“Captured? Your not going to kill us?”

“Oh don’t worry little Narsda mate. You will die.”

(God now it's 6 dogs, 1 lizard, and 5 cats......thank god not all of these live at my house.)

Hey you won't find me but I hear you guys.............I'M NOT GIVING ANYTHING AWAY!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah and you know way to animals......and I have a feeling my neighbors dogs might join your troop later...........who knows maybe even the ghosts of my dog and cat might join.......they are haunting my dreams for the cliffhangers.......................
