Chapter One.

Ann sat in the passenger side as they drove down the desolate highway. The road was completely clear of anything as they continued on, and she smiled as the two others joked with her.

Jackson sat in the drivers seat, looking towards Rose in the middle who flirted openly with him. They didn't even try to hide it, and Ann didn't mind that much. She relaxed as she glanced over his head, and at the outskirts of Topeka.

She sighed as she thought of her brother Dan in the back. He was always watching the two younger ones, and he says they have a tendency to stick tight to each other. They thought it was because of age, but she thought differently.

She focused back on Jackson as he went to peck on Rose's cheek. He slightly jerked the wheel at that time, and stomped on the brakes. Ann was yanked forward, and smashed into the window without any seatbelt on. The van jerked to the left once, sending her flying out of the window, and sending the van over the edge.

Her body lie motionless for hours as gunshots came from down below. A few hours passed before a vehicle flashed in the distance. Ann was still unconscious as it pulled up beside her, and two soldiers stepped out. They picked up her body, and placed it in the back seat.

"What do you remember about the crash soldier?" The man was up in her face.

She looked down, and then back up after a brief pause. "Nothing sir!"

The sergeant strolled away to a table set to the wall of the bunker room. The cement walls were still unpainted while the lamps hung from their fragile cords.

"Do you know how long we were searching for you? A whole three hours! It's been three months since the crash, and you still can't remember anything?" His face was red to the neck as he screamed at her statue like body.

She never got used to the bickering about the supposed crash, if there was any at all. She stood at ease in front of the man who helped her remember who she was. He retrained her from the beginning. She learnt everything she used to know again as a result of the crash.

"Yes sir! I am aware of the resources spent looking for me sir!" Her voice filled the small room.

The man backed off from his ranting, and spoke slightly hushed. "Your name is?"

She starred him down as she replied, "My name is Ann, sir!"

He nodded at the reply, and looked at the door. "Go back to the mess hall, and get something to eat. I've got use for you soon, and it's not in here."

Ann looked at him as she strolled from the room, giving him a sharp salute as due from her status: a specialists. He watched her from behind as she stroked down the hall with equal authority. Only a few guards stood around some doors, and he went back inside as she turned a corner.
