Protector

You sip your coffee slowly, noting that the skeleton watched your every move. It was like he was waiting to jump in and save you from a scolding burn from a coffee spill, you smiled and began to drink slower. You didn't want Sans to worry about you. You could take care of a little burn, had happened many times before when you were in a rush. You dealt with it like a grown woman, after crying for a few minuets first. Sensing your carefulness, the skeleton places his cup on the table gently, not wanting to scuff the newly varnished wood. He chuckles, closing his sockets for a few moments, taking a deep breath.

" Nice place ya got here " You look up quickly, having gotten used to the silence that had settled between you two long ago. You hadn't expected him to talk up so suddenly, causing you to jump a little and nearly spill your coffee. Sans chuckled, seeing how he had rattled you by speaking up. He held your hand to steady the cup, seeing how much you were shaking. You wouldn't never admit this but you were nervous. Not only had you never let anyone into your home before but Sans was a double threat. He was the first person to enter your home but was also your potential boyfriend and first impressions were always important. A home can sometimes reflect the owner and you didn't want the monster to get the wrong impression of you.  He didn't seem to mind and laid back into the couch, seeming to be quite relaxed.

" So, I see ya have pictures of your family scattered around. How are they? " You lay your cup gently down next to Sans, watching as the skeleton sat up, looking at you deep in the eyes. You hadn't spoken about your family in years and the mention of them was enough to bring tears to your eyes. You sniffle, feeling a bony set of hands cup your face. Sans turned your face to look at him, his features soft and sincere. You broke out into hysterical cries, watching as the skeleton's eye turned blue. It was like he was looking directly into your soul. You couldn't stop the tears now, beginning to fall quicker and harsher then ever before. Sans pulled you tightly into his embrace, feeling his ribs press against your body was a strange experience but somewhat comforting as you listened to his steady breaths that seemed to calm you with every passing second. The skeleton stroked your (H/C) hair and hushed you gently, the fire in his eye cracking in the soft silence.

" You have a fragile soul babe. Let me be the one to protect it. " Silence settled for a few more moments, almost causing the tears to come flooding back.  You hated feeling this way but it could not be helped. Family was your weakness, having not really experienced it for reasons beyond your control. It seemed that when you were with Sans those feelings began to melt away, like they never existed. You sigh contently, wrapping your arms around the skeleton, resting on his spine.

" I know that I struck a chord and I'm sorry. Your soul is already beginning to crack. I will stop it furthering and hurtin' ya. Boyfriend or not " You smile softly, feeling tiredness overcome you from the crying. Sans' gentle voice helping you to drift off. Soon you were sound asleep, wrapped in the monster's embrace. It was so calming. Sans was perfect and even though the days were early, you could tell that you loved him already.
