The Story of Lihua Lei

In life and in death, Lihua Lei had always had some luck on her side. Dying at 90 years old with her children and grandchildren by her side, she could not wait to finally meet her beloved husband, Daniel, in the afterlife. Lihua Lei had grown up as an orphan, taken in by the Lei clan at a young age, she was first taken and trained as a poison taste tester. Poison taste testers did not expect to live a long life. However, no matter which poison she was fed, her luck to survive the poison became a legend. After being fed all the poison known to mankind, she was then taken as a disciple to the greatest poison expert.

After ten years as his disciple, she came back to the Lei clan to serve them. As their assassin and poison expert, she helped kill all their foes and take down their enemies with a fast and efficient ease that came naturally to her. Soon, she rose within the clan to become a trusted aid and was given permission to marry.

Finding her beloved came easy to her. He was Daniel Lei. The bodyguard to the Young Master Lei. After many trials, tribulations and many girls fighting for his attention, Daniel Lei also returned her affections and told her he loved her as well. After four children, and 20 grandchildren, Grandma Lihua Lei finally laid in bed with a content heart, ready to let go and be with her beloved again.

Little did she know, the Gods had different plans for her. Little did she know, her luck had always been too much and transmigrated her soul into a young, helpless, naive, and vengeful little girl.

------------

Lihua Lei is the legitimate daughter of Prime Minister Lei. However, his marriage towards her mother, Lily, was only a political marriage maneuver. At the time, Leo Lei was just an unknown scholar from a wealthy family, however he had fooled her mother into believing his lies of love so she would choose to marry him instead of someone else. With the backing of Lily's family reputation and power, Leo Lei had finally became Prime Minister. After marriage and getting Lily pregnant, Prime Minister Lei married two concubines back to back the moment the announcement was made and left Lily heartbroken.

Due to complications during birth, Lily died giving birth to Lihua. After Leo found out that the child born was a girl and not a boy, he left and never came back to Spring Courtyard. Lihua was given everything that she wanted and needed, however what she yearned the most was human contact and family affection.

Growing up innocent and naive to the world, after 17 years of not knowing her father and half siblings look like, it did not occur to her their ill intentions when two of her half siblings came to befriend her after such a long time of solitude. Lihua immediately gave them what ever they asked for as long as they came everyday to talk to her. She soon became attached to them and waited patiently by the window like a puppy waiting for it's master by the door. How could she have known the the tea they have been giving her to drink for a year would be poison and that poison would kill and disfigure her face.

When the poison was activated, both of her sister's laughed happily in her face.

"Is first sister feeling okay?" Cindy asked in fake concern. "You don't look so well."

"Yes, I agree second sister." Lisa said behind the open fan to hide her smile. "First sister looks pale. It must be the weather changing that has cause first sister to feel chills of the wind."

"I-I..." Lihua managed to say.

"Oh, dear let me guide you to your bed so you can rest." Cindy said as she pulled the weakened Lihua off her chair and dragged her limp body to her room.

"Let me help you." Lisa said as she ran after Cindy. "Second sister is so nice to actually tuck first sister into bed."

The two of them dragged Lihua's body down the long hall, not caring if they bumped into tables or the wall. After they reached her bedroom, the two of them threw her body onto the bed and covered her with a blanket from head to toe.

"Sister, you just lay here and get some sleep." Lisa said. "If you're not feeling any better by tomorrow, we'll call a doctor for you."

Lihua could hardly keep her eyes open. She could feel her body ripping itself into shreds. The pain grew harder and harder as it traveled up her body, passing through her neck and straight to her brain. Sweat covered her body, but her body felt deathly cold. Not being able to take the pain anymore, she lost consciousness and soon slept her way through the most painful part of the poison.

The poison they fed her was called Crimson Heart Poison. It first attack the heart, poisoning the body slowly, then it would spread into the brain. Once it hits the brain, more poison will disperse and it's markings will show on the face. Black and red markings will show up around the eyes, disfiguring the face forever.

The Crimson Heart Poison is a slow acting poison and had to be administered to the body for a year before taking affect. Finally the patience of the two misses and two concubines have come into fruition and they all celebrated their victory together.

Instead of letting any of Lihua's attendants know what happen, Cindy and Lisa had arranged for four of their servants to take Lihua's body into the forest and leave it there. The four servants took her body from her room in the dead of the night and sneaked out of the Lei Manor without being detected.

Instead of just dumping her body out in the open, the servants, who had no choice, but to follow their mistress's orders, felt guilty for what they had to do. So instead they agreed to leave her in a cave, to at least protect her for some time before getting ravaged by animals and beasts that live in the forest.

After laying the limp body down, Lihua woke up from all the moving. Her eyes opened up in confusion and stared at four strangers that wore servant's clothing from her family. Seeing her wake up, the four of them kowtowed to her and begged for her forgiveness.

"Please, forgive us." The oldest man there said. "We servants have no choice but to follow our mistress. We have no power to say or do anything, but follow their orders. Please forgive us for our sin against you. Do not wonder as an angry ghost, go and be at peace."

They kowtowed towards her three more times, before they got up to leave.

"Why?" Lihua was able to whisper out.

"Why?" Lihua said again, but this time she was able to say it clearer.

The old man told the other's to go first, telling them he wanted to make sure she died, before catching up to them. The three left without disagreeing, for they wanted to make sure their job was properly done.

The old man came back and knelt down in front of Lihua. Guilt written on his face as he told her the truth.

"Young Miss, they hate you. They have always hated you. Hated the fact that you are legitimately born daughter of the Lei Clan. That although they were treated the same as you, no matter how much they excel better in fighting, poetry, drawing, music, or other womanly pursuits. There would always be one thing that you have that they could never have and that is your legitimate born blood that you carry in you. They will always be the daughters of concubines and you will always be the daughter of the first and only wife of Prime Minister Lei."

The old man sigh again before he continued. "Young Miss. The announcement for your engagement to the Crown Prince was made a year ago. I guess that was when they started to plot your demise. I knew nothing of your poison until today. I am sorry that you have to go through this by yourself and not have anyone by your side. Not even your beloved servants knew. They would probably be punished and killed for your disappearance. And for that I'm even more sorry towards you. I hope one day you can forgive me for what I have done to you and the people you cherish. Go well and find your mother, she will be waiting for you."

Lihua watched as the old man walked away. Seeing his fading silhouette disappear, Lihua cursed her family. Her father for his neglectfulness and coldness towards her. She cursed the two madams and their children for their deceitfulness and betrayal. She curse the four servants that took her out of the Lei Manor and placed her in the cave to die alone. She cursed her fate and her luck to be born in an unloving family.

Hate filled her whole mind and it vibrated her body when her blood started to boil. Suddenly, as soon as it began, she spat blood from her mouth. Lihua Lei died in hatred and regret that her short life was filled with nothing but sadness, loneliness, and regret.
