Cindy's Wedding
The wedding at Prime Minister Lei's was a small affair. Only those closest to him were invited and although he invited King Nao, King Nao had other obligations that he had to attend to, but instead sent his brother in his stead.
"This servant thanks His Majesty." Prime Minister Lei said as he bows.
"This King hopes you don't mind that it is Hell King going instead of this King?"
"This servant whole heartily did not expect any of you to attend this servant's small wedding for my daughter. The good wishes of Your Majesty would have been enough, but to have Hell King grace us with his presence is more than this servant deserves. This servant just hopes that Hell King does not hold on to ill feelings towards the Lei Clan for what Concubine Lisa did."
"King Takeshi does not have such a small heart. Since the matter has been taken care of through legal justices. Go, prepare your daughter's wedding and I shall send the wedding gift to your residence on that day."
"This servant shall take his leave." Leo said as he walked out of the King's study.
-------
On Cindy's wedding day, the Lei's residence was lightly decorated, it was not a lavish wedding, but a simple wedding. The guest only numbered to 30 people of close family and friends. When Hell King arrived with Lady Lihua, the joyous chatter turned silent as they bowed.
"You may rise." Takeshi said quickly.
Takeshi wore a white robe with an embroidered gold dragon and gold lotus flowers. Lihua wore a white dress with an embroidered gold phoenix and gold lotus flowers to match. On her head was a gold phoenix crown with pearls. Her customary white veil that ended by her chin had been overlaid with a lace veil. Her hands were covered in a lace glove as well, not a single skin on her body was shown. Making her more mysterious.
Behind them was two of Lihua's maids, Helen and Teresa. They too wore white and followed their Mistress closely as Takeshi and Lihua entered the wedding celebrations.
Takeshi kisses Lihua on the forehead before leaving to the side of the men.
"Look after your Mistress." Takeshi ordered Helen and Teresa. Both of them bowed as Helen took Lihua's hand and place it into the crook of her arm as if Lihua had to borrow Helen's strength to walk.
The moment Takeshi leaves, Lihua makes her way towards the ladies side and immediately walks towards the Lei Madam's. The two ladies watch at the reason why Lisa was killed made her way towards them. Although she was a victim to their daughter's demise, they too blamed her for Lisa's death. However, since she and Hell King have come in place of King Nao and Queen Yuki, they have still given the Lei Clan some face by showing up. Though the Lei Clan has fallen from their heights, by having Hell King attend meant that they still held influence in the government and nobility.
"Lady Lihua greets Madam Tori and Madam Jessie on this joyous occasion and congratulates you on the marriage of your daughter, Lady Cindy." Lihua said as signal's Teresa to give them the wedding gift. "Please accept this gift, on behalf of Hell King and I, for the happy couple."
"This servant thanks Lady Lihua for attending this servant daughter's wedding and accepts Lady Lihua's blessing and gift." Madam Tori said as her maid accepts the gift from Teresa.
"Lady Lihua wishes to put the past behind us from this day forth." Lihua said. "Let by gone be by gone. With the joyous marriage of Lady Cindy, Lady Lihua wishes for the Lei Clan and the Shiro Clan to turn over a new leaf."
The women who were listening nodded their head to agree with Lady Lihua. By stating her intentions right away, there should be no more problems between the Lei Clan and the royal family.
Lihua gave the Lei Madam's no way out to make a move against her. Should something happen to her, everyone would blame the Lei Madams. Lihua had no one else that she had an issue with and Hell King only had enemies from another country. And he would never let any of his enemies anywhere near Lihua.
"This servant agrees." Madame Jessie said as she smiled at Lihua.
Seeing that more guest came, Lihua excuses herself from their company and start to greet the other guests. From across the hall, Lihua could see the flower pants groom. His charming demeanor and joyous laughter could be heard above the chatter. He attracted everyone's attention to him as his uncouth manners were clearly seen by the nobility. He even flirted with the unmarried daughters of the nobility, by smiling at them and sending them winks. The maidens would then giggle with their friends at his brazen attitude.
By the time Cindy walked inside the great hall the celebration of her wedding had just started. She wore a simple wedding gown in red and gold. A veil covered her face as she walked towards her husband to be. Her steps were small and Lihua could hear her sniff behind her veil as if she had been crying. As the ceremony progressed, Cindy's shoulders shook more as time progressed.
Everyone knew that the marriage was a sham. Cindy could have dropped her pendant somewhere and the flower pants, Yin, could have picked it up and made up the whole story. It was the responsibility of Cindy and her maids to ensure that she had her pendant at all times. It was her own fault for losing the pendant. And now she must pay for the consequences.
Her silent tears could be seen through the shaking of her shoulders. Her sniffles could be heard by those closest to the couple. However no one said anything as the ceremony kept going. When if finally ended, they drank the congratulatory drink from Prime Minister Lei and Madame Tori and then were split up to different sides of the hall. Cindy went to the women's side and Yin went back to the men's side. Cindy went straight to the dais and sat down. Her mother whispered some words to her and she calmed down enough to stop shaking.
Groups of women, in two's and three's came up to Cindy and poured the congratulatory wine into the wine cup and wish her well. Lihua came up to the dais under the watchful eyes of the noble women and with Helen by her side and Teresa behind her, they stop in front of the dais. Teresa pours the wine in the cup and hands it to Lihua. With slow movements, Lihua takes the wine cup and holds it in front of her.
"With this cup, this Lady wishes the best for Lady Cindy on this joyous occasion. This Lady wishes the happiness of the couple and a blessing of children in the near future." Lihua said, then raised the cup to Cindy and lifted the veil high enough to drink the wine.
"This servant thanks Lady Lihua's kind words." Cindy said plainly.
Since the wedding had no incidents, they continued with tradition and brought the bride and groom to go into the newlywed chambers together. The married women and men were allowed in the chambers as they push the couple to the newlywed room.
Lihua made her way towards Takeshi as he stood to the side to watch the activities. Takeshi's arms wraps around Lihua's waist bringing her closer to him. From behind a curtain, the Lei Madam's help take the wedding dress off and change her into a nightgown, while the male servants change Yin behind another curtain into his night clothes.
The couple comes out and they sit on their bed as Leo and Tori give them their last blessings. Afterwards everyone leaves and goes back into the great hall to end the celebrations.
Takeshi and Lihua were the first to leave. As they left, they could hear the scream of a woman and a man from the Lei Manor.
Lihua smiled behind her veil as her spider that she left behind watches the show in the newlywed chamber.
