Chapter 43

"Here, you absolutely have to try snorting some of this," Krystal said as she pulled out a little vial of white powder and poured it all over her breasts.

"Don't mind if I do," Fabian said as he burrowed his face in her bosom and began imbibing copious amounts of drugs. He felt a warm pleasant buzzing sensation in his head, almost as if his brain had slipped into a piping hot bath tub.

Krystal let out a loud giggle as she poured out another line on her forearm and snorted it herself. "Come on over here and give momma a kiss." She pulled Fabian over and started jamming her tongue down his throat.

Fabian slapped her on the ass and began engaging in a tongue wrestling competition with her until he felt something hot and wet dribbling across his lips and was suddenly bombarded with a coppery taste in his mouth. He pulled away and stared at Krystal. "Uh, I think your nose is bleeding."

"Oh, crap. It does that sometimes after I snort a bunch of joy powder. But don't worry about that, daddy. Don't you just feel so energized? I feel like jumping up and down on the bed." She stood up and proceeded to do just that while squealing loudly.

"Would you guys mind keeping it down?" Sir Mikael asked from the other bed. "The three of us are trying to get a little sleep over here."

"Shut up, you stupid paladin. And stop trying to cockblock me. Just because you losers all took vows of abstinence doesn't mean I have to. Now come over here, honeybuns. Daddy wants a ride."

Krystal lowered herself onto Fabian and began bouncing up and down while moaning at the top of her lungs.

"I think I might give those stables a shot after all," Derek said as he attempted to cover his ears with a pillow.

Suddenly the moaning came to a complete stop and Krystal stopped bouncing and slumped over to the side.

"Hey why are you stopping, honeybuns? Daddy hasn't busted a nut yet." The woman gave no reply but remained slumped over at an awkward angle. "Aw man," Fabian muttered. "I think she's dead. You guys want to lend a brother a hand over here? It looks like we've got a dead hooker we need to dispose of."

"Oh goodness," Brandon said as he leaped out of bed and started performing chest compressions on her. "Derek, do you think you could cast a healing spell on her? Maybe it's not too late to save her."

Derek walked over and checked her pulse. "I'm afraid she's beyond my abilities to help. I never learned any resurrection spells, and I've always heard people don't come back from the dead quite the same as they were. Something's always a little off."

"Right, right," Fabian said. "So are you guys going to help me get rid of this body or what?"

"Well, the woman clearly deserves a proper burial," Sir Mikael said. "The least we can do for her is give her that."

"Really?" Fabian asked. "I was thinking about just tossing her out the window, or maybe stuffing her in a dumpster somewhere. But if you want to go to all the trouble of digging a grave, far be it from me to stop you. I won't be doing any of the digging obviously, and the three of you look strong enough to handle carrying the body, so I'll just handle the supervision end of things and we'll get this regrettable situation taken care of. Sounds like a plan."

"Does anybody else hear some kind of thumping noise?" Brandon asked.

"No, Scrote, there's no thumping noise. You're just freaking out. You need to pull it together, man, and take care of business."

"I think he's right," Sir Mikael said. "I'm pretty sure I do hear a thumping sound."

There was a crashing noise and the window burst open in a spray of glass. Something thunked into the ground right between where they were standing.

"Why does that look like an arrow that's on fire?" Brandon asked.

"Because it is an arrow that's on fire," Fabian said. "I think the Inn is under attack."

Another flaming arrow came flying through the window and hit Fabian's bed, which instantly went up in flames.

"Okay, new plan. We'll burn the body and then run downstairs and make our escape from whoever's attacking the Inn."

"This woman Madge gave us shelter when we were in need," Sir Mikael said. "We are her guests here and I, for one, am going to help her defend this place."

"I, too, will lend my fighting skills, such as they are," Derek said.

"Yeah, we can't just leave Madge here to die," Brandon said. "We have to help her."

"All right, you guys want to be heroes? Fine, we can be heroes. I mean, it's all in a day's work for me so it's no skin off my nose. I just thought you guys might want to get an early start on the road and get a leg up on completing our quest."

"And we're not leaving the woman here to burn," Sir Mikael said. "Brandon, assist Fabian with carrying the body. Derek and I will head downstairs to greet this attack. Join us when you've gotten the woman in a secure place."

"Well, I'm not touching that thing," Fabian said after Derek and Sir Mikael had left. "If you want to carry her downstairs, be my guest. But I don't see the point of carrying a corpse to safety. I mean out of all of us she's the one who should be least concerned about safety, am I right?"

"It's about basic human dignity, sir," Brandon said as he hoisted Krystal over his shoulder. "Even the dead deserve our respect."

"Yeah? Well, you almost bashed her head against the wall right now, you clumsy oaf. If you're really so concerned with her dignity, you should watch where the hell you're going. At any rate, we should probably make our exit. It's getting pretty toasty in here."
