LXIV. Bound by Love
Chapter Sixty-Four
Mira
It had been a whirlwind of emotions ever since I ascended to the throne of Lothal. The weight of the crown felt heavier with each passing day, but I was determined to make my reign a good one. My thoughts often drifted as I sat in my room, lost in the pages of ancient texts, when suddenly a knock on the door jolted me back to reality.
I blinked, momentarily disoriented, finding myself back in the familiar confines of my palace. The air was thick with memories, but I couldn't fathom why any of my aides would want to disturb me at this hour. As I approached the door, a strange energy tingled in the air, and I sensed something significant was about to happen.
I opened the door, and there he stood—Anakin. His presence filled the room with warmth, and he wore that charming smile I remembered so well. "Ani," I breathed, my heart racing as I stood speechless for a moment. The memories of our shared adventures flooded back, and I instinctively stepped forward, wrapping my arms around him in a tight embrace.
He felt just as I remembered—strong and reassuring. The world outside faded away as I held onto him, feeling a sense of comfort I hadn't realized I'd been missing. "You came back," I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. "I thought... I thought I had lost you."
I could feel his smile against my temple, warm and reassuring. "You'll never lose me, my love," he whispered, his breath sending a shiver down my spine. I closed my eyes, savoring the moment, the world around us fading into a blur. It was as if time had paused, allowing me to bask in the comfort of his presence. His voice was a soothing melody, wrapping around me like a soft blanket, and I couldn't help but believe him. In that instant, everything felt right, and the weight of my worries melted away.
I could only ask, "How are Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Rex?"
Anakin chuckled softly, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, my dear, let's not worry about them right now. I promise we'll talk about them later. Right now, I just want to enjoy this moment with you."
His warmth enveloped me, and I felt reassured, knowing that we would have time to catch up.
I lean back, a smirk creeping onto my face as I casually ruffle his hair. The little scar above his eye glints in the soft light, a reminder of the mischief we used to get into. Everything about him is just beautiful, from the way he laughs to the glint of determination in his gaze. "Oh, and you haven't changed a bit," I tease, the familiar warmth of our friendship wrapping around us like a well-worn blanket.
He chuckles softly, leaning in to kiss my nose and then my lips. "I know, darling, and you've only grown more beautiful." His hand brushes against my belly, and his playful smile fades slightly. "Are you pregnant? You are, aren't you?"
I flush, caught off guard. I haven't told him about my pregnancy; I didn't even know until after everything that happened on Genius. My heart races as I search for the right words, feeling the weight of my secret hanging between us.
Anakin's eyes sparkle with a mix of excitement and anticipation as he leans in, his lips brushing gently against my nose. "I'll be ecstatic if you are," he whispers, his voice filled with genuine warmth.
I can't help but chuckle, the sound mingling with the soft rustle of the leaves outside. "Yes, I am," I reply, my heart swelling with a mix of joy and nervousness.
Anakin's smile widens, and he pulls me into a tight embrace, his arms wrapping around me with a protective gentleness. "I hope it's my child," he murmurs into my hair, his breath warm against my ear. The sincerity in his words sends a wave of comfort through me.
I laugh, the sound light and carefree, and pull back slightly to look into his eyes. "Oh, please, Obi-Wan would never break the Code," I say, a playful smile tugging at the corners of my mouth.
Anakin's eyes crinkle at the corners, and he leans his forehead against mine. "Maybe not, but I can't help hoping," he admits, his voice soft and heartfelt. "I've always wanted a family, and the idea of having a child with you... it's more than I could ever dream of."
I feel a lump form in my throat, touched by his words. "We'll figure it out," I say, my voice steady and reassuring. "Together."
He nods, his grip on me tightening just a little. "Together," he echoes, and we stand there, lost in the moment, the world around us fading away as we find comfort in each other's embrace.
Then, I gently pull away, taking his hand and leading him toward our bed in the bedroom. The soft light from the window casts a warm glow over the room, creating an intimate atmosphere. I lay down on the bed, feeling the softness of the sheets beneath me. Slowly, I take off my satin robes, letting them fall to the side, revealing the delicate lingerie beneath.
"Love me," I say, my voice soft and inviting, my eyes locking with his.
Anakin's gaze darkens with desire, and he moves closer, his eyes never leaving mine. He leans over me, his hands gentle but firm as they trace the contours of my body. "Always," he whispers, his lips finding mine in a tender, passionate kiss.
The world around us fades away, leaving only the two of us, lost in the moment, bound by love and desire.
