Ch. 25 Scrolls of the Moon

"Aren't you going to heal up my calf for me?" Vander said with a venomous voice as he kept shifting his calf in order to not make it burn in pain.

"In the morning I will. I just need to see you won't kill us while were asleep, demon."

"It's Vander hon. Anyways I don't get why they call you Luna anyways, you're not anything like the moon."

Confused, Luna stopped cleaning her blade and looked over at Vander. "What are you talking about?"

"People born under the moon are supposed to be kind, loving, warmhearted, and good willed. I see nothing like that in you."

An irk mark appeared on her forehead as she kicked his injured calf as Vander cried out in pain. "Hmp, hope that teaches you your place."

The bathroom door opened up as Adam came out with wet hair and smelled really good after his shower. "I'm done!"

Luna smiled as she grabbed another towel and helped dried his hair. "Hey you look like a decent looking kid now."

"Yeah, if it wasn't for that weird streak of white in his hair and he wasn't so thin, then he be a village boy. Say kid... where did you get that streak from?"

"Ummm... don't remember. Mama said I was born with it and got it from daddy."

"Interesting, was your daddy something else?"

Adam's blue eyes darkened at his thoughts. "What do you mean?"

"Did you know your dad all that well?"

"No.... I only saw him once a year."

"Why is that?"

"It was something about his job that made him only come once a year. But after my mommy died last year I haven't seen him then..."

"Tisk, parents. They say they love you when they only lie in your faces to warm you up to them."

A sudden pang hit Luna in the chest as she thought about her real family and her other dad. She loved them both, even if she didn't know her real family all that well and if her other father kidnap her, she still love them both ways.

"Vander stop asking Adam so many questions. He needs to get to bed." Luna said politely as she could while helping him dress into the inns nightclothes.

"Hmp fine. Night kid."

"Nighty night mister demon!" Adam said and when into his room.

Luna closed the door with a soft click and she flopped onto her bed and sighed deeply. "Today has been a long day..."

"You can say that, princess." Vander said with an invisible smirk as he turned his back to her and fell asleep.

Luna stared at his back before closing her eyes and imagined the moon...

~~~~~~~~~~~
"GAH!" Luna yelled out of breath as she woke up to Adam jumping onto her
"Morning! Rise and shine for a new day!" He said with shining blue eyes, the yellow around his pupil glowing brighter than ever.
Luna chuckled and ruffled his hair. "You know what, how about you do the same to Vander?"
"Okay!" Adam made a running start and jumped on Vander who woke up screaming in pain as Adam had landed on his injured calf.
"Son of a bitch!" Vander said as he shoved Adam off of him and held onto his calf in pain, "Stupid kid!"
"It isn't his fault I told him to do it. Now I'll start healing you!"
Vander glared at Luna's back while she flipped through Siegfried journal. She felt sad for flipping through it, but knew Siegfried would be fine without her. She found the right spell and started chanting the name.
"Authy!" She called out as blue light waved over Vander's leg. The blood that was dispersed had disappeared and his calf was soon healed.
Vander stood up, jumping, and running a bit to test it. He smiled and grabbed his cloak and threw it on. "You're not bad with magic. Now let's get going!"
Luna nodded as she grabbed her own equipment and follow out the door with Vander as she held hands with Adam. Adam was looking better after he had eaten so much last night. His hollowed cheeks were starting to fill in again as his rib cage wasn't show as bad as it was before. She hopped she could find the poor boy a new home. She didn't want Adam to get caught up in what her mission was.
Her eyes widen at the number of people in the plaza. Mothers with their children and marketers selling foods and other things too people. Vander lead them in an alley way, scaring some cats along the way.
"Alright were going to have to hide under my cloak. Because almost everyone knows who Luna is and there will be whispers going around you and why your down here."
"Alright." Luna said and tighten her grip on Adam's hand as Vander hide them inside his cloak. It was big enough to make it look like he was a strong person if Luna and Adam didn't walk out of place.
The smells from the food had Luna's stomach growling as she looked through the small enough opening of the cloak and peeked through it. The buildings were almost middle age looking, only with a futuristic feeling to them. The way to the library was long as by the time they were done Luna had gotten a feeling at how big and plaza was. Dakmight was no small country, but filled with a lot of people. She saw now how big of a job her father had when ruling a country so living and fresh with people in it.
The inside of the library was huge, bigger than Luna's room. There were stairs leading up to the higher stack of books while the stand were pure silver. Open light filled the room as people were checking out books or simply read them.
"If you didn't know yet Dakmight is the only country with the most books and knowledge around the world. That's why the most important books or scrolls of royalty are down here." Vander whispered lightly enough for only the two to hear as he twisted his way right and left from each shelves of books.
"Geez... father would have loved this place."
"Who? The emperor?"
"Ahhh sure." Luna said and kept quite afterwards. Something about Vander set her off while he finally came up to the big door with locks all over and four guards in the way.
"That's the entrance. Only royalty can enter it."
"But I can't show my face! They'll know who I am!"
"I know, just let me do my magic."
He handed the cloak over to her as Luna took it while Vander stepped out in the open lights in the middle of the room. His white hair turned almost sliver as the guards when into action.
"Who are you? State your name!"
"My name is Vander and I need to get through."
"Not happening! Leave before we arrest you!"
Vander sighed, putting one hand on his hip. "I knew it would have to come to this." His eyes started to glow redder and redder, "So how about you take a little nap~?"
The guards were suddenly shaking with fear. They all dropped their weapons and started screaming bloody murder. They were muttering to themselves, something about what they feared as Vander grabbed Luna and jogged up to the door.
"Now just do something to open it."
"Umm..." Luna stared at the giant door. It was patterned with all symbols of the kingdoms. She saw the sun symbol Siegfried had shown her and right next to it was the crescent symbol. She reached up and touched it's pattern. The symbol glowed a pale sliver as the whole door started to light up the same color as it opened up. Vander's jaw dropped as Adam eyes widen in awe.
"Nice job princess." Vander said with a happy going tone as he started down the steps.
Luna grabbed Adam's hand as she carefully made her way down the long steps underground. A bright light burst through the darkness as Vander tan towards it, having Luna running to catch up. Luna entered into the room and gasped.
The ceiling seemed to go higher and higher up with the rows of books as the pattern of the crescent moon was everywhere. In the corner there was a bedroom and kitchen to cook in, looks like you could have lived down here if anything when wrong. A moon calendar was in the middle of the room as it showed the moons turnings. Tonight was to be a full moon and said werewolves were to be lurking in the woods.
"Wait, there are werewolves?!"
"Well if there are demons then unnatural things can come into play. Vampires and faeries are even real, they just live on their own."
"Why is that?"
"Well because Dakmight was where all things were made in the world. But there was a war and human beings and magic people won the battle and had each race live in one part of Dakmight to live even and healthy. You see, not all unnatural beings will like each other and will end up killing each other. That is why Dakmight had the rule made and out in the end parts of Dakmight live these creatures."
"Do demons live here?"
"No they live in hell, idiot."
Luna rolled her eyes as she looked over the moon calendar more. "I mean do people like you live with the demons? The half human and half demons?"
"I-I don't know... I'm the only person so far to know about my half breed race."
"I'm sorry." Luna said with real sadness.
"I-It's fine..." Vander mumbled as he looked over the books more.
Adam was playing around in the mini pond they had in the corner with fish. He was enjoying himself alright as Luna smiled at him before getting to work. A flash caught the corner of her eyes as she looked up and saw a scroll with glowing light.
She climbed up the ladders up to the scroll and took it out. The scroll was warm in her hands as she unrolled it and saw the different phases and changes in the moon. A story was written inside was well, called 'The Moon Goddess and Dakmight'
The words were so small Luna could barely read it and deiced to read it over later. She put the scroll inside her pack and started climbing down just as an alarm was set off. Vander cursed to himself as the door was closing.
He slid down the ladder as he grabbed Luna and Adam and held them in his arms. "I got what I need but we need to get out of here! Or we'll be trapped down under here!"
Luna nodded and held on as Vander as he started running. He was good runner as they had just barely made it in time before the door closed, but too late to escape the guards. Vander's aura around him glowed brighter and brighter. Suddenly the red aura exploded with a bang as all the guards around them screamed and fell down.
Vander panted heavily as he ran out of the library and ran down into the streets. People were screaming and making way from Vander as horns came out from his head as fangs came from his mouth. He jumped up onto a man and leaped his way onto the roof and barely made it.
Pegasus cries were heard as Vander grunted his way over and to each roof. "Oh *pant* come on *pant*!"
"Vander I know a way to lose them! We just need to get to the west gate!"
"That all the *pant* way on the other *pant* side of the *pant* city!"
"I know but it's are only chance at escaping them!" Luna yelled over the winds as she started gathering energy.
An arrow nicked just barley her ear as she bite her lip from crying out as Adam was crying, scared that people were cashing them. Vander jumped to another roof, but missed his foot on the landing as he fell down. Luna's heart raced twice the size of what it really felt like as she called out.
"Tranmda!"
A portal opened up into the ground as Adam fell into it screaming and disappeared into it. Vander grabbed onto Luna as they both fell into it as the portal closed behind them. The sound of wind was all she could hear as the portal finally opened up as all the three landed onto the ground under them.
Adam was sobbing and curled up into ball on the soft grass as Luna quickly when up and hugged him close to her. "It's alright... it's alright..."
~~~~~~~~~~~

It was all endless nights... filled with screaming in pain and blood from his back where his father toured him endless in each dream he had... after he woke up his thoughts would be about Luna. Her parents said she wasn't in her room this morning and sent out a team of guards to find her.

Siegfried was sad to think Luna would disappear... and without him as well... but he couldn't blame her, he was only good for magic, nothing more. He got dressed and by the time noon hit the guards came bursting into the dining room.

"The princess was found stealing from the royal library! She has a small child with her and a demon from the looks of it!"

Siegfrieds world seem to stop right in his mind as Luna's mother and father were both panicking at the thought of Luna being near a demon. Demons were said to take your soul and eat them for pleasure. Once they were done with you, your time was up and you became their toy to torture. They possessed endless amount of dark energy and were often used for their blood to bring someone from the dammed back to life.

If Luna was with a demon... it could mean her life was at a line. Siegfried got up from the table and jogged to his room. He started packing up everything he needed. He looked around for his journal, but only saw Luna's journal.

"She must have token mine by mistake..." Siegfried said and flipped through the pages.

Luna's journal held the ways and secrets to killing demos. All the types of weapons use to cut them and burn them. It gave him shiver as he closed the book and stuffed it into his pack. Siegfried changed into a pale white shirt and black pants as he opened up the widow and jumped down, hoping this was the same way Luna escape the castle. He luckily landed on a branch and climbed down it.

He looked out over the plaza of Dakmight and took off down the hill, but was stopped when another figure cried out. Siegfried looked back and saw it was Jason who stood up and dusted himself off.

"I'm going with you. I owe Luna my life now."

Siegfried sighed, but knew he needed a good sidekick. "Alright, let's go."
