Ch.24 Plaza of evil
Can I please get some feedback for how well the story is going so far?
The land was harder than she thought it would be as she barely missed the tree branch she was going for and grabbed onto a lighter one that just almost supports her weight. She bit her tongue from crying out in pain as there were guards nearby by the gate. Carefully she started swinging herself from one branch to another until she landed just enough on high enough ground.
Her dagger glowed lightly in the night as a perfect view of the moon was showed on top of the hill. It was breathtaking to see. The rings around the moon helped the stars nearby shine with the same glow it had. It would have been a nice viewing area to see if the plaza square didn't drown out the darkness with it's lighting.
The wind pulled her auburn hair back as her bangs were in her eyes. A pang of sadness hit her as she remembered the look on her mother's face. In all honesty she never meant to hurt her, she only thought the women wouldn't care for her. Luna never really had a mother before... unless if Berta counted. Berta was the only thing close to a mother now that it she recalled her, a pinch of guilt stabbed at her forgetting Berta and all she had done for her.
"I'm sorry... but I need to find out why I was kidnapped... maybe someone down there knows my true father about the so called truth I know..." She said to herself as she started down the hill.
It was long way down and through narrow way until she found the entrance into the plaza square. She kept quiet as she looked at her watch and saw it was midnight now. She didn't think the hill would take her an hour to climb down, even if she were to roll down it; she would have thrown up after she was done.
The streets were dirty like any other book or fail tail would have told about the streets of a kingdom. In the corner of her eye she spotted a young boy in ragged clothing sleeping by a peach stand shop. She felt bad for the boy and reached into her pocket for money. It jangled in her pocket loud enough to wake up the boy. His eye found where her dagger was as he screamed and backed up into the peach stand.
Luna tense up in surprised at the boys actions as she let the money down on the ground. It was enough to feed him for a whole year. The boy's eyes widen as he reached out for the money and grabbed enough to have some spill out of his fingers.
Luna smiled and found another money holder and started putting the money into brown leather holder. The boy suddenly reached out and hugged her. "T-thank you..."
Luna hugged him back, careful to not hurt him as you could see his rib cage through his ripped up shirt. "Your welcome."
She pulled back and ruffled his hair. "I should take you to an inn. What's your name?"
"Adam... Adam Budlla." He said weakly, "I'm also eleven years old..."
Luna took a good look at him to see. He could be eleven if it weren't for his almost skeleton body. His eyes were blue with a hint of yellow near his pupil. He had raven black hair with a single line of white in his hair. An odd birth mark to Luna per say. He reached about Luna chest height as she was only five foot five at the most.
"Alright Adam, I'll take you to the inn. I'll pay for you food too and stay."
His eyes widen bigger than what she had seen before. "You mean you have more money than that?!"
"Yes but I'm going on a mission so it's the reason why I have so much money. But come on, I bet the inn is still open this late at night."
He nodded his head as he took her hand, she could feel the bones of his fingers easily. "Okay! Come on it's this way!" He said and dragged her.
It took some while until they finally reached the inn. It was an old one, but it was what she could get. She looked at her hand and saw the boy need a bath. Badly. She opened the door as the sound of a bell when off as a head peeked out from under the check in counter.
"Welcome to Sleepy Sleepy Inn, how may I help you?" Said the man was he was middle aged and sounded very tired.
"I would like to book us both a room please."
"Alright... one mother and one son..."
"Wait I'm not is-"
"Here ya go." He said and thrusted the key into her face. She ignored his comment and took Adam's hand and led him up their room. It was small, but enough to fit her needs. Adam's eyes widen at the table of food as he dashed for it and started stuffing his face into the bread and fruits.
Luna smiled as she put down her bag of clothes she brought with her. She opened it and inside it made her heart stop in sadness. She didn't notice while packing her things she accidentally took Siegfried's diary. She mistaken it for her diary while she didn't notice when packing her things in a hurry.
A bloody scream came from outside as Luna snapped her attention to the window as Adam had stopped eating and looked out the window as his faced paled at the sight. Luna gently pushed him aside as she looked down and found a man holding a knife to the cloaked stranger's neck.
"Alright buddy, tell me what you were doing with these books you stole from the plaza library."
"I-I told you I don't have any books!" The cloaked man said as his voice shook with fear.
"You liar!" The man pushed the knife deeper into his neck, "These books were kept secret down under the library's royal hideout! No one could have gotten through but the royal family!"
A dark chuckle came from the hooded man as he kicked the man in the stomach. The man gasped for air just as the stranger put the knife at his neck. "I have my ways and secrets, ones you don't need the answer too."
The man started chocking on his own blood as the hooded man ran the knife into the man's throat. Adam screamed in fear and looked away from the window. Luna's heart raced as the hooded man looked up and locked eye contact with Luna.
He cursed under his breath and took off. Luna growled as she grabbed her dagger and shook Adam gently to get his attention. "Stay here and wait until I get back. Don't let anyone else in this room."
Adam nodded as tears leaked from his eyes. Luna felt bad for the boy and wished she could help him but needed to stop the murderer. She climbed out of the window and ran on the tiles of the roofs of houses. She spotted the man not too far ahead and caught up to him while jumping down on the ground and when after him.
He turned his head to look back and muttered something under his breath, a wave of green energy came out as Luna dodged it in time. Luna growled and took out her dagger, glowing with a soft light. This was her only chance as she threw the dagger as it landed into the stranger's calf.
He screamed in pain and fell over and onto the ground. Luna panted for air as she caught up and put her foot on the dagger and twist is deeper into his calf as he screamed more.
"Alright I know your hiding something. You just committed murder in front of two people. Who are you and what do you have inside your cloak?"
Blood landed on her cheek as the stranger spitted at her. "I don't have to tell you bitch!"
Luna growled as she threw the hood off the strangers head to get a good look at his face.
He had a scar that ran across his left eye as his eyes shined bright red, almost like a demon color as his hair was pure white. Luna gasped and took the dagger out of his calf. He sighed in relief and sat himself upright by a wall.
"W-What are you? Your human yet a demon?!" Luna cried in horror, she had never seen anything like it.
The stranger coughed up blood as he looked up at her with tired eyes. "I am half demon and half human, demon hunter."
"H-How do you know I'm a demon hunter?"
"It was easy to tell. Your eye have the same spark every one of your kind has when they spot a demon."
"Fair enough. Give me those books and I'll let you live."
The stranger chuckled again as he held out a single white string as it connected to both their pinky fingers. "If you kill me you die with me. The green energy was a spell that one can't escape when dodged. It ties both the live of the master and the victim."
Luna's heart seemed to stop. This couldn't be happening to her. "F-fine... but you will tell me why you have the books and I'll let you live..."
"I also know who you are, princess. I need you for something too, so we both have a deal with each other."
"Tell me your name first and I'll hear about it."
He gave her a devilish smile as time seemed to stop around her. "I need you to help me steal the book I really needed in the royal family library under the plaza, and I'll let you use my power for anything. So how about it?"
"Deal." Luna said and took the dagger out of his calf calmly, when inside she was screaming at herself.
"Nice." The demon said, "My name is Vander."
