Ch.18 Awakening
The coldness pulled the sleeping princess out of her slumber of darkness. A voice pulled her out of the dizziness spreading everywhere inside her. The bright lights hit her eyes so hard Luna had to cover her eyes to see. The haziness was thick with iron while she blinked away to see her surroundings. It was huge room with baby blue walls with white tiny shapes like clouds everywhere. A wave of her auburn hair fell past her shoulders. Luna tried thinking how she got into his room in the first place.
She froze, completely in shock of trying to think how she wasn't dead. Panic filled her having adrenaline pushed her all the way up. The urge to puke took over her as she grabbed the pitch of water next to her, and started heaving into it. The door burst open to Siegfried running into the room with a couple of maids behind him.
"Luna!" He yelled while rushing to her side. "Are you alright? What happened?"
Never had Luna felt so cold before as she looked at Siegfried. "Am I dead...?"
Siegfried looked at her as if she had said something stupid. "Of course not. If you were dead you would be up in clouds and not heaving up puke."
She finished puking as the first maid took the pitch by the handle while the other maid wiped her forehead. "Mistress are you alright?"
"M-Mistress...? I'm a maid... just like you..."
Siegfried and the maid both looked at each other with uneasiness. The silence was killing Luna until Siegfried finally spoke to the maid. "Please leave us. I need to tell Luna the big news."
The maids smiled and dipped their skirts before leaving and closing the door so softly Luna hadn't heard it close. Siegfried coughed slightly and sat on the edge the huge bed. It looked just like the same size back in Siegfried's room. Then it clicked to her, she was inside one of the royal guests room if royalty ever visited here in Dakmight.
"W-why am I in a room for royalty...? Maybe I did die..."
A soft laugh came from Siegfried's lips as he gently took his hands into Luna's soft ones. Her heart skipped a beat at the warm feeling of another human being touching her. Luna wasn't used to someone touching her. Her own father didn't even hug her much unless it was her birthday, a day when she felt like her father really did care about her.
"You didn't die Luna." Siegfried said with a hint of amusement, "Or should I say, Princess Luna."
Luna looked at him in complete shock before she shook her head quickly. "I must be dead right now. I have to be."
Siegfried groaned at her and grabbed her chin gently enough to have her stare into his gray, stormy eyes. Anyone could get lost in them if they stared long enough. "You are not dead! You're the lost princess Luna!"
"I-I can't be..." Luna shook her head slowly, dread feeding inside of her soul. "I'm not a princess... I'm a daughter of a scientist father and an only child. My mother is dead... she died giving birth to me... that's what my father told me!"
"Luna... whoever told you this must be your kidnapper... the reason you didn't grow up with your real family..."
"He is my real family!" Luna snapped at whim with harshness so deep it felt like it could have broken her soul. "I lived on a farm! Don't think you high and mighty people think you can trick me and laugh at my stupidly you think we country folk seem to have!"
A low growl came Siegfried as he grabbed her wrist. "That's not true! What I'm saying Luna is the truth!"
"Science doesn't prove who my real family is!"
"Then why didn't the Emperor kill you?!"
Luna shut her mouth and thought about it. Why hadn't he kill her? She tried to assassinate him just before King Marx killed her, or so she thought before waking up and saying she was the lost princess! And everything was find and happy now that it's the so called truth to her!
"The Emperor stopped my father from killing you." Siegfried said and snapped her focus onto him. "I didn't understand it until he pulled back your hair showed you your birthmark."
Her hand flew to the spot where she hid the birthmark for all her life. She asked her father what it was, but he never did answer her. So she grew out her hair to hide the spot and avoided the question as best as she could whenever she put her hair into a bun or ponytail.
"No one but the royal family know this. We all have a mark on us to show are royalty." He rolled up his sleeve to show a blazing sun sending fire across his arm in different directions. "Mine is the high and mighty sun. I'm guessing Dakmight is the crescent moon. So, this is proof you are royalty."
Her breath caught in her lungs. Her father never had a birthmark or anything close to a mark anywhere on his body. Let alone have a picture of Luna's dead mother. She always though it was because they didn't like taking pictures because her father didn't like them. She was so wrong...
The door opened up to the Emperor and Empress themselves. Luna looked closely to the women who was her mother and found she looked almost like her. The world seemed too darkened and spin, everything Luna knew her whole life was a lie. Siegfried's yelled of her name was drowned out along with the other shouts from her parents as darkness took over her again. Hoping that this was all a dream...
