Chapter 7: A Long Walk

Fawn's POV

"So erm, how long is this going to take?" I asked.

Sparrow looked at his map. "It looks like about six hours from the looks of it." he replied. Amusement glimmered the edge of his eyes.

"Argh, the agony!" I moaned as my legs trudged forward. "Don't you have a potion or something?"

He grinned guiltily. "Oh, you wanted one?"

"Well, what do you think?!" I yelled in exasperation.

Just as I said that, a twig snapped, and I pulled out my sword. Sparrow quickly pulled out a nasty red potion and held his diamond sword in his other hand.

"Come out!" I said. "Reveal yourself!"

Slowly, a girl appeared from behind the trees, and she held a modest smile. She gestured for someone else to come out, and two other girls appeared. One had white, angel-like wings, and I smiled as Cara walked out. Another person I remember as I saw her in Sparrow's treehouse.

"I thought you might need some backup." Kai said modestly as the mystery girl rushed to Sparrow.

"Sparrow!" she squealed.

"Hey little sis!" he said, putting his hand in her hair. "Oh sorry, umm Fawn. This is Daisy, my little sister."

"Hey, I'm 8! I'm old!" she replied angrily.

"Calm down, calm down." I said, and they both went quiet. "What are you doing here?"

Kai shrugged. "Apparently Vortex thought that it was fair enough for more people to go on your quest since it is a nearly impossible feat. I volunteered as well as Cara, and while we were walking here, Daisy said that her brother went off on a quest with a girl wearing a creeper hoodie toward the Nether Portal, and we knew that was you."

"Ya." Cara said, pulling twigs out of her feathers. "Couldn't you have found a more ideal spot to rest? I mean, look at my wings! They're a mess!"

"Well, given the fact that you are the only one with wings, I couldn't think of an easier spot for people without wings." I responded.

"Well, couldn't you have gotten to the mountain over there?" she muttered, pointing at the mountains far off in the distance.

"No." I said. "I am staying right here."

Before Cara could retort something else, Kai jumped in the middle of us. "You know, its not the best time to argue about this. You hear that?" Kai said, pointing toward the trees behind us. I listened closely, but only hear the steady cluck of chickens and the soft mooing of cows. Then I heard it.
